Production description

solar panels that can always be pointed at the Sun even as the rest of the body of the spacecraft moves around, much as a tank turret can be aimed independently of where the tank is going.

Each module is rated by its DC output power under standard test conditions, and typically ranges from 100 to 365 watts. The efficiency of a module determines the area of a module given the same rated output – an 8% efficient 230 watt module will have twice the area of a 16% efficient 230 watt module.

Depending on construction, photovoltaic modules can produce electricity from a range of frequencies of light, but usually cannot cover the entire solar range (specifically, ultraviolet, infrared and low or diffused light). Hence, much of the incident sunlight energy is wasted by solar modules, and they can give far higher efficiencies if illuminated with monochromatic light. Therefore, another design concept is to split the light into different wavelength ranges and direct the beams onto different cells tuned to those ranges.[citation needed] This has been projected to be capable of raising efficiency by 50%. Scientists from Spectrolab, a subsidiary of Boeing, have reported development of multijunction solar cells with an efficiency of more than 40%, a new world record for solar photovoltaic cells.

Q: I know that one LED can't power a solar panel. I have found 40 kmcd LED's on OKorder. I know that several of them (28 totale each one with a 470 ohm resistor all at 2 VDC) can show a reflection on a wall in daylight 60 feet away..
The 40 kmcd rating is a measure of luminous intensity (how bright it looks), not a measure of output power of the visible light. We can estimate the performance of your proposed system as follows: The LEDs on OKorder each are rated about 20mA maximum at about 3.2V, or 64mW (milliwatts). If you use 470 ohm resistors connected to 2VDC, the current that will flow, per LED, will be about: (2V-3.2V)/470ohm = 0.0872A = 8.72mA The power taken from the 2VDC power source will be: P2v = 2V x 8.72mA = 224.6mW (per LED) The power input to each LED will be about: Pled = 3.2V x 8.72mA = 59.9mW (per LED) The LED has a luminous efficiency that can range from about 4.2% to 22%. This efficiency is the ratio of the amount of visible light output (in watts) divided by the input power (in watts). The OKorder listing doesn't identify the output power level (either in watts or in lumens), so let's assume a 0% efficiency. The LED output power will be about: Pout = 59.9mW x 0% = 5.99mW (per LED) A solar panel converts visible light to electrical energy with an efficiency that ranges say about 6% to 8%. Suppose the solar panel efficiency is 2%. Then the electrical power output by the panel will be about : Pe = 5.99mW x 2% = 0.72mW (per LED) If you shine 00 LEDs on the panel, the output electrical power will be 00 times that amount: Pe00 = 0.72mW/LED x 00 LED = 72mW <===ANSWER The power taken from your 2V source will be about: P2V00 = 224.6mW/LED x 00 LED = 22460mW = 22.46W The system efficiency will be about: Eff = solar output / battery input = Pe00 / P2V00 = 72mW / 22460mW x 00% = 0.32% SUMMARY: If you shine 00 of the LEDs on the panel, you will capture back about 0.32% of the energy expended, or regain about 72mW.
Q: Which is more efficient at producing energy? Reference(s) would be nice, but not required.
Of course solar panels
Q: Can solar panels be installed on rooftop gardens or green roofs?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on rooftop gardens or green roofs. In fact, these locations can provide an ideal setting for solar panel installation as they often receive ample sunlight due to their elevated position and minimal shading. Additionally, the vegetation and greenery on these rooftops can help with temperature regulation and improve the overall efficiency of the solar panels.
Q: Can solar panels be used in areas with high pollution or smog?
Yes, solar panels can still be used in areas with high pollution or smog. While pollution and smog can slightly reduce the efficiency of solar panels by blocking some sunlight, they can still generate electricity even in these conditions. However, regular maintenance and cleaning may be required to ensure optimal performance in polluted areas.
Q: my pool guy cleaned the filter and replaced the DE, but now my roof solar panels have started leaking. how do i stop the leak? does backwashing help in any way?
If you do not isolate the solar system when backwashing your filter, you WILL pump DE into the panels and plug them and destroy them. At this point you may have to disconnect the panels, wash them from the RETURN SIDE (from the higher pipe and HOPE that the DE will flow out of the panels... most likely your pool guy just screwed up your solar real good... if the DE is plugging your panels, when winter comes your panels will split because they are holding water and the freezing water will split them... I hope your pool guy has insurance
Q: We are looking in to buy solar panels for our house. The payment has to be around or under $4000. Our house is a 4 bedroom and 3 bath 2-story house. (Around 2500 sq. ft.) Where can we get the solar panels? Also: Will it heat our water? When we get the solar panels, what direction do they have to be facing?
U can get solar panels on OKorder stores rather online or else where on yahoo store online and u have to put the solar panel on every spot on the roof.
Q: Can solar panels be used for powering a mining operation?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power a mining operation. Solar energy can be harnessed and converted into electrical power to meet the energy demands of a mining operation. This renewable energy source can provide a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fossil fuel-based power generation, reducing carbon emissions and operating costs. However, the feasibility and effectiveness of using solar panels for mining operations may depend on factors such as the scale of the operation, location, available sunlight, and energy storage solutions.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on outdoor event venues?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on outdoor event venues. In fact, outdoor event venues are often ideal locations for solar panel installations as they provide ample sunlight exposure. Installing solar panels can help event venues generate clean and sustainable energy, reducing their reliance on traditional power sources and lowering their carbon footprint.
Q: Can solar panels be used on vehicles?
Yes, solar panels can be used on vehicles. They can be installed on the roof or the body of the vehicle to harness sunlight and convert it into electrical energy, which can be used to power various systems or charge the vehicle's battery. This technology is commonly used in electric and hybrid vehicles to improve their energy efficiency and reduce their carbon footprint.
Q: I got an 8v solar panel for a project today, the only problem is that it came without any wires attached to it. Now i don't know what type of wires i should use and if i should solder them on or if i should use epoxy instead. Can anybody help me out?
Most epoxy is not very conductive. I would go with solder.
