- Q: So, I've seen cheap solar panel kits for sale from Harbor Freight, and regardless of whether or not I were to buy a set from them or someone else, I was wondering what the process of implementing a small-scale solar system into your household electrical system would be.I've read articles that started out too in-depth or were speaking of systems on a much larger scale. Can it be as easy as buying the panels and inverter, and plugging it into a socket, or is there more to it?Some of the articles I was reading had mentioned having to contract with your electrical supplier, having to have an electrician tie it all in in some special/ necessary way, using a battery pack (would this be necessary for a tied-in system?), or using the system to only power single items, like a water heater, or plugging items into a connected battery-pack, all of which I'm not sure is necessary or needed for what my goals/ means are/ would be.
- Take okorder /... This unit produces 45W for $90. Inverter is extra. Let's say this unit produces that amount of power for a full 2 hours a day, that's 45W * 2h = 540 Wh or 0.54kWh. If I save that from my electrical company, I would pay about 5 cents. $90 then takes 3800 days or 0 years. At that point, you haven't actually made any money, you've simply recovered what you paid out to buy the unit 0 years ago. Yes, electrical power prices will be going up over the long term but the output of this unit is also not going to be 45W over its lifetime (if it even lasts 0 years) so I really question the economics.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a military vehicle or equipment?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on military vehicles or equipment. In fact, several military forces around the world have already started incorporating solar panels onto their vehicles and equipment as a means of reducing reliance on traditional fuel sources and enhancing energy efficiency. This not only helps reduce carbon emissions but also provides a sustainable and reliable source of power for various operations and equipment on the field.
- Q: Hi there. I live in Colorado, and we obviously get a ton of snow there. I im looking into a solar power system for my home, and I am wondering if the snow will accumulate on the panels, or if, because of the energy passing through, it will melt on contact? By the way we get about 20' of snow each year, and it comes on often. I will also be putting them on my roof. Thanks for your help.
- Solar panels to almost 90 degrees. Clean off snow and spray with MINERAL SPIRITS. I just figgered this out during a snow storm today here at 8000 feet in So. Colorado during a wet and sticky snow. Panels are clean. Sealants used on panels are impervious to MS. Jesus loves us all.
- Q: Solar Panels not working very well, they have faded. Is there any paint or anything else I can do to restore them? Thanks Eileen
- Unfortunately Eileen the panels are bound to fade as its par for the course. Over time much like everything else (from an AC condenser to your knees and hips) everything starts to go south. When did you purchase and install your panels? If this was done within the past few years then something is definitely wrong, and you should have the manufacturer and installer come back and replace the panels....on their dime of course. Is the warranty on your panels still in effect? If so then its definitely something that they have to come back and take care of. There is a company I know of called Sun Electronics that has a 20 year warranty on their products, so if its worth anything you might want to buy your new panels/system from them. The panels around today are more efficient than those of years past, and with the cost coming down due to economies of scale and the tax incentives you might want to consider getting a new system. Sorry to let you down though Eileen!
- Q: i really love the idea of solar and want to start out small, so i'm new to this.I plan on getting an 85w panel to charge my laptop. what other equipment is needed to accomplish this?would i need to get a battery or does the solar panel hook directly to the laptop. Does one end just lead to a conventional outlet similar to a wall outlet?could someone please give me a detailed explanation with options about this? i would greatly appreciate it.
- humm..... .need HUGE solar panel (alot) 2. wires 3. aligato clips . put the panels on the roof 2. use the aligator clip to clip the wire from the panel to the bars of the pluger of the comp. charger 3.tada mark me best:)
- Q: i have a 50 watt 2 Volt solar panel..Will it can switch on directly a car head light on a sunny day??? How much head lights it can support on a bright sunny day??? if its cloudy then can it run a single Head light???? i have no batteries just want to connect a car Head light directly to solar panel.
- Indestructible okorder /
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a boat or RV?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on both boats and RVs. In fact, they are a popular and efficient option for generating electricity in these mobile settings. Solar panels can provide a sustainable and renewable energy source, reducing the reliance on traditional power sources while providing power for various appliances and systems on board.
- Q: are there solar panel that work without the sun?
- Unfortunately, okorder
- Q: Can solar panels be used to power a water pump?
- Yes, solar panels can be used to power a water pump. Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity, which can then be used to power a water pump. This allows for a sustainable and renewable energy source to operate the pump without relying on conventional electricity grids or fossil fuels.
- Q: Can you connect a solar panel to speakers that use a wall outlet plug, by cutting the plug off and connect copper wire between the solar panel and cord?Confusing i know. I'm trying to connect a solar panel to speakers for a science project.
- Solar panels produce direct current, the wall plug is alternating. You cannot without an inverter. However, electrical devices smooth out this alternating current using those big power adapters and such. If you find how much voltage your speaker requires you should be able to power the amplifier directly with the solar panel, and have the input from the normal source..
