WIRING
To ensure proper system operation to maintain your warranty, observe the correct cable connection polarity(Figures 1&2) when connecting the modules to a battery or to other modules. If not connected correctly, the bypass diode could be destroyed.
PV modules can be wired in series to increase voltage. Connect wires from the positive terminal of one module to the negative of the next module. Figure shows modules connected in series .
WORK PRINCIPLE
GROUDING
All PV models must be grounded by electrical connection of the module frames to ground. Please be careful in arranging the system ground so that the removal of one module from the circuit will not interrupt the grounding of any other modules.
The modules should be grounded to the same electrical point as described below.
Each PV module has a hole on the side frame of either a bolt, nut and washer grounding the module to the frame, a ground lug fastened by bolt or screw, or appropriate screw(hardware not provided). An example of acceptable ground connection using a bolt, nut and washer retaining a ground lug is shown in figure 3,in a connection of this type, the hardware(such as a toothed locked washer/star washer) must score the frame surface to make positive electrical contact with the frame. The ground wire must be considered within the requirement of local and regulation at the site of installation.

- Q: I need to power a series of meraki wireless repeaters that plug into a standerd wall outlet. consuming 5v or .08 amps However I need this in a remote location (like out in the middle of nowhere) Using A solar panel as power supply and a battery to store the energy but, how and what do I use to convert the energy coming from the solar panel to the battery and the batteries power supply to match the needs of the meraki wireless repeater? How do I make this as compact as possible? Do I need a ac/dc converter? or dc/ac converter? Any suggestions or solutions would be great !
- First things first. 5 Volts @ .08 amps would be .2 Watts. therefore you would need at least the same amount from a solar panel to replenish the batteries. But what puzzles me is the notion that plugging it in a wall outlet ? If you use 20 V @ 0.08 then the power consumption is 9.6 Watts And what is a meraki wireless repeater? I never heard of one. I'm a FCC licensed Ham and have some idea what is available. If you need 5 volts DC, you could use twelve Ni-cads in series and just keep them trickle charged with the solar panel That would make it compact. If you were to use an automotive battery (or motorcycle), then you would need a DC/DC converter.
- Q: this solar panel i saw was for 500 dollars(i get a 25% discount)and i was curious will they produce electricity? or just heat?what do they do?is it a good investment?here is a link to the one i would like, no reviews but it looks new to the site.
- Solar panels produce electricity. This one isn't very good. $500 for only 80W with such a large panel? It doesn't even come with a battery (car battery) If you're thinking of something to try and run your house off of, you'll need somewhere between 2 to 24 of these panels, plus a voltage converter and other equipment to connect it into the electrical system in your house. If you want something to help charge a cellphone, I guess this would work - if you could get the electrical connections set up properly - but it's still awfully expensive and won't give you a return on investment for somewhere between 5 to 20 years - by which time the panel will need to be replaced, and we'll (hopefully!) have more efficient panels available.
- Q: Does anyone know how I would go about hooking up the air conditioners in my house to solar panels? I would want just the air conditioners to be powered by solar energy. How could I hook it up where the panels can absorb energy from the sun during the day, and save and store the energy so I can run the air conditioners at night? I really feel that in the long run, this would save a lot of money with the energy bill. It's the use of the air conditioners that drive up the bill. Is this idea feasible? Is it also possible to have some sort of hybrid system where I can switch from solar to my regular local energy source when I want to?
- There's no need to connect only the A/C to solar, nor is there a need to use batteries. Both of those problems are solved with grid-tied solar. The solar electricity system works alongside your regular, and the A/C just plugs in normally. You never need to worry about switching. During the day, if the A/C is drawing power, the solar goes into that, reducing your draw from the electric company. If the solar generates more than the A/C needs, the meter is driven backwards. At night, the meter runs forward again. For example, the meter may read 5000 in the morning. By evening, maybe it reads 4975. At night, it creeps back up to 5005. When the meter reader comes, you would be billed for only 5 kWh. That's the general idea. Also, consider whether you can insulate your home more, and whether you might want to change out your air conditioners for new, DC inverter mini-split units. Those can use a fraction of the electricity per BTU of regular air conditioners.
- Q: Are there any aesthetic considerations when installing solar panels?
- Yes, there are aesthetic considerations when installing solar panels. The appearance of solar panels on a property can be a concern for some individuals, especially if they prefer a specific architectural style or want to maintain a certain visual appeal. However, advancements in solar panel design have made them more visually appealing and adaptable to different settings. Additionally, options like integrated solar panels, which blend seamlessly with roofing materials, can help minimize any visual impact. Ultimately, choosing the right solar panel design and placement can ensure a balance between functionality and aesthetic appeal.
- Q: Can solar panels power an entire home?
- Yes, solar panels can indeed power an entire home. With advancements in technology and improved efficiency of solar panels, it is possible to generate enough electricity to meet the energy demands of a typical household. Additionally, by installing a battery storage system, excess energy generated during the day can be stored and used during nighttime or cloudy periods, ensuring uninterrupted power supply.
- Q: How efficient are solar panels when it comes to turning light into energy? If it's not 00%, why? Can it be improved? Also, how do solar panels work, exactly.

- Q: thinking of getting a portable solar panel laptop charger...may be a stupid question but may be a very intelligent one as well ;)
- First of all solar panels increase the mass of the plane and afeect its aerodynamicity. U cant use them at night. U cant use them when the whether is cloudy or its raining. To obtain the power required lift a plane it would need lots of solar panels which would make the flight more expensive. Why would people go on a more expensive ride when they can get a cheaper one.
- Q: How do solar panels affect the energy independence of a building?
- Solar panels can significantly enhance the energy independence of a building by harnessing renewable energy from the sun. By generating electricity onsite, solar panels reduce the building's reliance on the traditional power grid, thereby decreasing the need for fossil fuel-based energy sources. This increased self-sufficiency empowers the building to meet a portion or even the entirety of its energy demands, reducing costs and environmental impact while promoting sustainability.
- Q: I just connected my 5 Watt 2V solar panel directly to my 300 Watt 2 inverter. It worked for about 2 minutes then it popped (sparks, smoke etc)! What the hell did I do wrong? I thought the solar panel was 2 volts? Can someone with experience with these things help me out?
- Those tiny inverters that plug into cigarette lighters are horrendously inefficient, as they assume you have the car's battery and alternator at their disposal. It's possible that the inverter itself needs 50 watts without even attaching a load at the output. Second, many 5-watt amorphous panels are too optimistically rated, and may only deliver 5 watts in the best sun. Given that, the inverter probably failed from undervoltage at the input. This is why there is always a battery connected. The idea is that the battery is charged over a long period of time by the panel, then discharged quickly by the inverter. The panel is probably fine. You can short the outputs, and generally nothing is harmed.
- Q: im trying to experiment with solar panels. so i dont want to buy a huge expensive solar panel if i dont need one.
- Oh, i could hate that!! i'm continually having to locate a marvelous sufficient spot to apply my photograph voltaic calculator, very stressful. Dimly lit would not keep it going. i could somewhat have a reliable, rechargeable battery. Now, photograph voltaic backup may be high quality. you will desire to touch Nokia and tell them approximately it. possibly they're going to call the telephone once you!
