Q: What are the different applications for solar panels for residential use? How many should I purchase if the avg panel produces 80 watts .
Solar okorder
Q: How many solar panels would it take to run an electric motor the needs 480 volts and pulls about 45 to 50 amps?
Quite a bit to run 480 volts @ 50 amps. Ohms law will give you the basic level your looking for but also you need to consider power storage ... Conversions .... Start up power vs running power levels ... it can be done but this is a bigger system then what I need so I cant just give you an number your panels will be rated in wattage and amperage you then take that power and put it in storage (battery) to inverter system (mine is 20 volt) you will need to have a 480 inverter for your power level. good luck hope I was of some help.
Q: Alright my family and i are buying a new home in Bradford,Ontario, we we thinking about solar panels and had a couple questions:. how much are they each?2. how many will we need to power a single family home(4 ppl)3. where can we find them in ontario?4.how much money do they really save you?5.what kind of energy do they providfe you withand other basic info or a website i can check out would be great!thanks in advance!
I have a system that was installed last year. I have 20 panels which provide me with about 75% of my electricity. I do use less electricity than the average home. I use an average of 45 kwh in the summer, my neighbor uses more than double that. I paid $26K for the system, but I got a $0K rebate from my utility and the US gives a fed. tax credit. I am saving about $2K per year, so it will take just over 6 years to break even. I also have what I think is called net metering, my utility allows my meter to run backwards when I generate more energy than I use, so pretty much the entire time the sun is out in the summer. Having energy efficient appliances, reducing standby energy and using conservative climate control really helps keep my usage down. Weather striping, insulation and clean well maintained systems all help as well.
Q: Can solar panels be installed in areas with high winds?
Yes, solar panels can be installed in areas with high winds. However, it is important to design and install the solar panel system with wind load considerations. Proper anchoring and structural support should be implemented to ensure the panels can withstand strong winds without causing any damage.
Q: Can solar panels work in the shade?
The okorder / All solar panels sold by Energy Matters have bypass diodes, which send output from the remaining cells around that dead cell. However, you have lost the output of that cell, so the total panel voltage will drop by about 0.48 volts per cell. Most panels are in the 6 to 8 volt range, and most batteries need at least 3.5 volts to charge completely. So, if 2 or more cells are shaded, the output voltage of the panel may drop too low to charge the battery.
Q: Are solar panels recyclable?
Yes, solar panels are recyclable. The majority of their components, such as glass, aluminum, and silicon, can be recycled and reused in the manufacturing of new solar panels.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on a small scale?
Yes, solar panels can definitely be installed on a small scale. In fact, they are highly versatile and can be installed on rooftops, balconies, or even in small yards. The size and capacity of the solar panel system can be tailored according to the available space and energy requirements of the user. This makes solar panels a feasible and practical option for both residential and commercial settings, enabling individuals to generate their own clean and renewable energy.
Q: How much roof space is needed for solar panels?
The amount of roof space needed for solar panels varies depending on various factors such as the size and efficiency of the panels, the energy requirements of the building, and the geographical location. However, on average, a typical residential solar panel system requires approximately 100 to 400 square feet of roof space.
Q: Can you connect a solar panel to speakers that use a wall outlet plug, by cutting the plug off and connect copper wire between the solar panel and cord?Confusing i know. I'm trying to connect a solar panel to speakers for a science project.
If you mean powered computer speakers, I think you have a chance. They're low power, and often low voltage. What you want is a parent or your science teacher to give you advice. You will want to find the kind of speaker that has a power adapter that plugs into the wall. The power adapter will put out, say, 6 volts at 200 mA. That's what you want to replace with the solar panel, not wire to the part that plugs into the wall.
Q: i really need to know howbecause im building a solar powered car for science fair :]thank you!
Hehe, if you want to build your own solar panel that looks like what you see on buildings, etc, you will probably need to be a multi-millionaire. Here is a quote from the first link in my sources list: The high-efficiency solar cells you can buy at Radio Shack and other stores are made from highly processed silicon, and require huge factories, high temperatures, vacuum equipment, and lots of money. But fortunately for you, there is a cheap way to make a solar panel yourself (see first link). I love the scitoys website, but I am not quite familiar with this particular experiment. It looks like a science fair project in itself! It also doesn't appear to put out nearly enough power to run even a small solar car. What I would recommend is buying a compact solar panel from Radio Shack or some other electronics store that you may know of. Type in solar in to the Radio Shack search box. The first item on the list may be useful to you (the solar panel battery combo). I am just guessing, though, since I don't know any of your requirements (voltage output, power output, size, etc). Also, buyer beware. This particular product has a pretty bad customer review... but then again, I find that people are more inclined to leave a bad review than a good one. Good luck... -Ubi
