Q: is this fact true? - its a limitation to solar panels during summer when it's in extremly hot countrie. I've heard it from my science teacher .. please give detail if you have any and any more benefits/limitations is welcomed .. Thank you :) !
i couldn't see any evidence of that on the internet, but i only searched for a little while for ya. all i can say is in Australia 40 - 50 degrees celcious is about our hottest, and i have never heard of it being a problem. im sure that being the sunburnt country we would know as general knowledge if the solar systems didn't go well if it was too hot.
Q: Where can I find updated info about solar panels for home?
It depends on what type of solar panels you are looking for. PV panels for electricity or heating panels for hot water. For more info about hot water heating panels, check out my source.
Q: i am trying to figure out how many solar panels can be placed on one acre of land and how much they cost to install
HOW MANY PANELS FIT IN THE ACRE FIELD? acre = 43560ft? First of all you can not fill the whole acre field with solar panels. There must be space between them so you can walk amongst them and so they don't shade each other. So let's say you can maximally cover 50% of the area. 43560ft?/2= 2780ft? a medium efficient, medium priced polycrystalline solar panel of 200w covers 6ft?. So how many can we fit in your field: 2780ft?/6ft?= 36pcs of 200W solar panels can fit on the field 36pcs*200w= 272200W =272kW of total power harvesting capacity per full sunny hour. HOW MUCH WILL THE PANELS COST? Since you will build such a large solar farm you will want to get the cheapest panels possible. the price per watt on solar panels today is as low as $,5. that will mount up to: 272200W in total *$,5 cost per watt = $408300 for all the solar panels HOW MUCH WILL THE EVERYTHING COST? The whole shebang will be much more expensive since you are going to need inverters, wiring, fuse boxes, handy men to install it all and so on. A 5kW total solar system costs about $0000 if bought from a solar company. that would mean $0 000 * 272200W/5000W= $544 400 for the whole shebang But I strongly believe since you are buying such large quantities you will be able to get better deals then the rest of us mortals. And then you will have a power plant making you free electricity for the next 25- 40 years to come. And you don't necessarily need to set it up in a particularly sunny place for it to be cost effective. Just look at this gorgeous solar Farm from France
Q: I've been looking into solar panels. They are fairly expensive ($35k or so). My state has some rebates and grants available. Is anyone aware of any federal grants and rebates other than the federal tax credit? We are subject to AMT tax and can't take the credit. (Which is ridiculous, is the federal government committed to conservation or aren't they??????)
I run my entire home off of solar . I'm really handy when it comes to building things from junk and buy broken cells off OKorder . I glue and solder them to make 2x2 cells so my panels are 6x6 foot each normal size is allot smaller and getting plenty of power dirt cheap but the gov doesn't give me crap and i really don't give a crap because what i have into mine payed for them self in a years time of paying the power company . Now if i was to buy the system i built there's no way it would be worth the wile . The only way the government is interested is if they can tax you that's not just conservation that's everything. I do get a kick out of the rich blood sucking power company when all the lights go out in the neighborhood and there knocking on my door trying to figure out why my house is lit up like a Christmas tree
Q: I need a solar panel for my laptop as i am going camping in the desert, and i need my laptop. There are two choices of solar panels, One is 0 watts and 2 V and maximum power current 0.56 amps. The other one is 2 watts, 2 V and no mention of current. My laptop plug says input 00-240V and .5A and then output 5V-5A. Which one should i get for my laptop. If there are other choices please tell me ill look them up on OKorder. Thanks
I'm afraid neither of these panels will do much for charging or running your laptop. If the power brick is supposed to emit 5 volts at 5 amps, that's 75 watts. Neither of those panels provides enough voltage and the power output is obviously far too small. The capabilities of solar power are vastly overestimated for small panels. Sunlight is limited to about kilowatt per square meter under ideal conditions (summer time, clear blue sky, for a few hours around noon in the US southwest). But consumer panels top out at about 5% efficiency, so your limit is 50 watts per square meter - in other words you would need about half a square meter, or about six square feet, of panel to provide 75 watts. And even under ideal conditions you will only get that much for a few hours each day. Also, the panel's voltage output is not regulated, so even if you find a panel that emits 5 volts (this would actually have to be made up of groups of 30 cells in series, as they emit half a volt each at most) you can't just connect the panel output into your laptop's DC in. You'd need a regulated DC-to-DC supply, and since that is not 00% efficient it will cost a bit of the power... now you need even more panel area. All in all, not really a practical thing to carry along on a camping trip.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on a parking lot or carport?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a parking lot or carport. In fact, these locations are ideal for solar panel installations as they provide ample space and can generate clean energy while also providing shade and protection for vehicles. This dual-purpose approach helps maximize the benefits of solar energy and optimizes land usage.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on senior living facilities?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on senior living facilities. Installing solar panels on senior living facilities can help reduce energy costs, promote sustainability, and provide clean and renewable energy for the facility. It can be a beneficial and cost-effective solution for senior living facilities to meet their energy needs while also contributing to a greener environment.
Q: How do solar panels affect insurance rates?
Solar panels can potentially affect insurance rates in two ways. First, installing solar panels can increase the value of a property, consequently leading to higher insurance premiums to ensure adequate coverage for the increased value. Secondly, solar panels can be considered an additional risk factor due to potential damage or liability concerns associated with their installation or operation, which may also result in higher insurance rates. However, the extent of these impacts may vary depending on the insurance provider and specific circumstances.
Q: Can solar panels work in cloudy weather?
Yes, solar panels can still work in cloudy weather, although their energy production may be reduced. Cloud cover reduces the amount of sunlight reaching the panels, resulting in a lower output. However, modern solar panels are designed to generate electricity even in low-light conditions, making them still effective in producing energy during cloudy days.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on agricultural or farming operations?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on agricultural or farming operations. In fact, many farmers have been adopting solar energy as a sustainable and cost-effective solution to power their operations. Solar panels can be mounted on rooftops, open fields, or even integrated into structures like barns or greenhouses. By generating clean energy, farmers can reduce their reliance on traditional energy sources, lower operational costs, and contribute to a greener future.
