Q: What size of system would I need to get if I use on average 500 kilowatt hrs a month I would like to do a tie in grid system I live in the states south central area of States any info or links to sites would be wonderful I am interested in this type of energy soure thank you

Q: i am wanting to build a small tiny house running 3-4 2 volt 5 watt light bulbs for a lighting source and using a Koolatron Fun Kool 26 Quart 2V Portable Mini Fridge This cooler consumes 4.5 amps at 2 volts. The conversion is: 4.5 amps (X) times 2 volts (=) equals 54 watts. and i want a solar system that will have back up for 2 days with the lights on for probly 5-6 hours a day so theirs no room for error
you silly ! with Solar there is always room for error . you have to build it in to your numbers . solar is full of errors . So you should plan on producing at 3 times what you expect you will need . then you have enough .
Q: Can I add more solar panel let say up to 200 watt and adding two 2 volts battery using the same charges controller and power inverter?
If you put a black panel on the ground or on your house and don't connect it to anything, it will absorb solar energy (heat) during daylight and release it at night (radiation). Not exactly. Assuming the black panel establishes an equilibrium temperature, it's going to be losing exactly as much heat as it's receiving during the day. Some will radiate out into space, some will conduct or convect into the atmosphere. As a wild guess, maybe 50/50. If you hook up a solar panel in the same place but hook it up to batteries, charge the batteries during sunlight hours and using that energy to electrically heat the home at night. The panels will absorb solar energy during the day but will convert that to electrical energy in the batteries instead of radiating it back into space at night. The panels are only about 4% efficient, so it's the same situation as the pure black panel for 86% of the energy. The remaining 4% will get stored in the batteries and then converted to heat at night. That heat will eventually leak out of the house and warm up the Earth a tiny bit. I think it's much the same situation either way. With the black panel the energy gets radiated / conducted/convected right away. With the solar panel a small percentage is stored and not so much is radiated, mostly conducted and convected. You're partly right as a black panel is going to radiate more into space than a house. But you're taking about maybe some day about 4% of % of the differening radiation/convection/conduction fraction, of the Earth's surface area. Probably not significant.
Q: On how to connect a solar panel to a battery and then to a lightbulb, the project is offgrid..
Hi Igor, this is a very simplified version of the system I'm implementing in my shed. I used a guide found on an Answers! member's website, you may find what you're looking for there. Check out the sources section.
Q: Hi there. I live in Colorado, and we obviously get a ton of snow there. I im looking into a solar power system for my home, and I am wondering if the snow will accumulate on the panels, or if, because of the energy passing through, it will melt on contact? By the way we get about 20' of snow each year, and it comes on often. I will also be putting them on my roof. Thanks for your help.
If you have an electrical backup you could install something to melt the show where the solar panels are installed. You might try installing them near a fireplace chimney if you have one. My thinking tells me if you have a clear raised bubble or pyramid over the panels it might help.
Q: how efficient are flexible solar panels?
I don't have a number, but in general, no one uses a flexible panel unless they are compelled to. The efficiency is lower, and my experience is that they don't last. I had one a few years ago, and it lasted less than 2 years. My rigid panels came with a 25-year performance warranty, and are still working great after 7 years.
Q: I live in Los Angeles area, I see the ads that, they will install solar panel for $0. I would like to know what is the catch ?Thanks You.
Sh*t is expensive. I live in FL.....to solar a 500 sq foot house here ...even with the gov rebates and the discounts..etc..etc.. sts the home owner @ $24,000 dollars. They say you will recoup your $$$ in 0 years. 0 YEARS??? The gov should get behind this and make it cheaper...but that will not happen.
Q: Hi, I bought 50 6X6 inch solar cells, I also bought a 40 amp diode, I still need to buy a battery, and inverter and a voltage controller, could you tell answer me the following questions:) I would like t build a small panel at first, (may be 0 X 0 inch), with that I would like (or at least to try) to power my laptop for the hole day, so I wont receive a very high amperage, yet, all the inverters I saw at e-bay are rated over 400 amp, if I buy a 400 amp inverter, can I use it with such a small amperage?2) what about buying a small car inverter, will it work?3) suggestion about the battery and the voltage controller will be kindly appreciated. Thanks
I'm guessing that each of those solar cells is just 0.5 volt at max power, so if you make a 2-inch square panel, you will get 2 volts - not enough for the inverter. A car inverter is notoriously inefficient, but it would work if you connect it to a 2-volt battery. You cannot generally connect such an inverter to solar panels alone. The battery supplies the peak current that the inverter needs, and the panel charges the battery. To charge a 2-volt battery, you will want 36 cells, generally, which give you an 8-volt panel. You can buy an inexpensive charge controller somewhere. If your laptop will run off 2 volts directly, you can skip the inverter and be much more efficient. Or if the laptop runs of (say) 9 volts, you can use about 40 cells to get 20 volts, get the proper power plug from Radio Shack, and plug the panel directly into the laptop.
Q: How do solar panels affect the insurance premiums of a home?
Solar panels can have a positive impact on the home insurance premiums. While the installation of solar panels may increase the overall value of a home, it can also lower insurance premiums due to the reduced risk of fire damage and environmental factors associated with renewable energy. However, the actual effect on insurance premiums may vary depending on the insurance provider and specific policy terms.
Q: Does any one know how to make a solar panel or a type of Alternative energy maker. Best answer gets 0 points
