Hi we are going on holiday to Brazil and staying at the Super Club Breezes Hotel in Costa De Sauipe where they have 220 v AC but while we are in Brazil we are planning on also visiting Rio and Iguassu Falls where we understand they have 110 v AC. What exactly will we have to buy and take with us so that we can use UK hair dryers, phone chargers and other assorted electrics. Thanks AJ
All you need is an adapter, but the hotel you are staying at will provide one for you, upon request.
hey yahoos , i just graduated this december on the 22nd with a degree in Electrical and Computer engineering . Apart from the fact that i graduated with a decent gpa ( not that great ) i have no idea why i chose that major or what kind of a job i should be looking for . I didn't have an internship , because of the pressure i was getting from my family which cooked my brain , and i'd rather Not do anything due to pressure than do Anything on my own. I have lost 75% of my motivation already and currently my only motivation is to buy some nice Gadgets, other than that , i don't know :( . , i was wondering if anyone could just advice me anything as if to what kind of a job should i be looking for in this field. What does it even mean by the term junior engineer. , Does anyone know if it's any good to learn 80% of electrical stuff and 20% of computer stuff. Is there a job market for that ? i am looking for a job in new york city itself . i don't have any more characters .:-(

If one of the two metal things on a electrical cord is larger than the other, but the holes in the outlet are the same size so it won't fit, is it okay to force it in?
If the holes in he receptacle are the same size, there are two possible reasons. 1. This is a very old receptacle, which I doubt. 2. This is a receptacle polarized for another voltage. The different configurations of the receptacles and plugs are by design, to keep people from connecting electrical devices to the wrong voltage supply. There is equipment with plugs having the same receptacle blade width, but this equipment is double insulated and code does not require the plugs for this equipment to be polarized. TexMav.
i am in college and my friend tried to explain his major in electrical engineering but i am not completely sure what an electrical engineer does.
Involved with generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, use of electrical equipment like furnaces, motors etc. Repair of machines, Design of electrical equipment etc.
If this is maintained, but voltage changed from 480V to 240V, by what ratio will supply line losses change?
Power voltage x current Therefore current power/voltage. Thus, if power is constant at 2000kW current at 480 volts will be: I 2000,000/480 4166.67amps At 240 volts: I 2000,000/240 8333.33 amps However, line losses are current (squared) x resistance Thus the ratio will be 4166.67 (squared) / 8333.33 (squared), resistance remaining constant of course. I make that 0.25 (or 4, if you are thinking that way up!) That help?
i am attending college in the fall, actually school starts on the 21st, and my major will be in electrical engineering, i was just fishing around and wondered if anyone could give me, in a nutshell, the basics of this field. since i have already chosen this as my major I do know a little, enough to choose it as my major. i just wanted to know what I might not already know. Give the names of specific jobs that would be of interest after graduation also, if you know any. Thanks!
Galactic man already gave it all but I just wanted to wish you good luck in your studies. I just became a junior and I'm majoring in EE as well. I wouldn't suggest keeping a certain EE job in mind since you're just starting out. You really won't find what you like until you actually start taking the classes and doing some co-op/internships (if your school has a program like that).
At hwy 5 and 380 there is a bunch of large trailers, cars, and production equipment. What is being filmed there?
