FAQ

I wanna put it on a 1999 toyota corrola what would be a good one?But i dont know which one and if i can even put one in
My friend has a dyno at his shop and we like to see the difference in peoples cars he/we dyno. Like in this case we have OH so many times looked for power gains with KN filters. We have never seen any proof on the screen that KN filters and many other aftermarket products that claim more power actually work. We have also dynoed with NO air filter and even that didn't add power. MYTH BUSTED! KN filters use an oil that is saturated in a cotton cloth held if form by wire mesh. ALL cars with a mass air flow meter for the last 10 years or so can't use a KN filter without problems down the road. The oil eventually makes it way up to the air flow meter and the oil coats little tiny sensitive sensors. Plus the dirt that is not captured by the filter also coats the sensors. When this happens all sorts of problems can happen, from poor gas mileage to a no run situation. KN filters LIE big time on the HP gains and MPG gains its all BOGUS. KN filters ONLY belong on carburated cars and cars with mechanical mass air flow sensors. Some people say this oil in the MAS problem is related to people putting to much oil on/in the filter ALSO a busted myth. Car companies are always looking to get a better MPH and hp and torque rating if KN filters worked and didn't cause problems ALL cars would have a KN filter or similar filter brands in every new car built.
cold air intake question???
Its not an actual cold air intake .It has no actual cold air box to capture cold air. but it will make you truck breath better. If you live in calif. You will have to take it of and put the stock one back on to get it smogged! Its not legal in calif.
does adding a cold air intake decrease or raise your gas mileage?
It depends on how you drive, a cold air intake raises engine efficacy. If the car is driven conservatively the MPG should improve. But if it is driven aggressively the performance will be better and I don't think any improvement in MPG will be noticed. So yes and no.
I‘m thinking buying cold air intake for a 93 GMC Jimmy. How much of an improvement would it be? and are there any other benefits besides better mpg, exhaust sound, and added Horsepower?
I have no idea what your mechanical abilities are, but are you sure it's stuck? The pads will always rest against the rotor. It's not like they will pull back into the caliper when you release the lever. I only ask because I knew a guy that thought they should retract and spent a lot of time working on something that wasn't broken.
i installed cold air intake on my jeep and now i have a bunch of hoses hanging that were connected to the old air filter box. what do i do with them? do i plug them some how or do i just pull them out?
the new intake should have spots for you to hook them into as those are important vacuum hoses your car will need to function correctly if there is no spots for them you may need to make them, but i would advise against this as any little mistake may not be correctable if it was a respected brand such as k and n or apexi or ingen it should have these already in it
i want a real cold air intake not a short ram intake
save your money, your car has a cold air intake on it from the factory, you will not get fifty horsepower from a sewer pipe with an air cleaner and it may lean out your motor which can cause an engine light to pop on, as the motor burns up. same deal with the chips, marketing gimmick at its worse, these companies make a lot of money, you will be able to hear your intake, but this does not make horsepower. you want good honest horsepower, drop an engine with a turbo in it and enjoy, otherwise keep your money in your pocket it will do more good there then some greedy executive good luck
Does the Air intake help with better gas mileage. If so what is a good brand to go with. I also want to keep the performance and still get better gas mileage.
It just eeks me when this subject is covered. Here is why. Like your mouth and nose, the air intake for your motor is ideal for all conditions and changing it never improves fuel economy - despite the ads and parts store promos for them. Will you run better if you enlarge you nose and mouth openings? No! Neither will your motor. Your motor runs ideally, at 18 parts gas to one million parts air. The computer is always adjusting fuel and timing to keep instantly close to that parameter. So, will opening the air intake up help change those controlled conditions? No, of course. You may have hidden problems internally causing power-robbing problems - which is normal as friction and sticky residues grow, lowering full power development. You may be pressing the gas pedal down more to feed more fuel to the motor to keep the speed going. Those negatives steal some of the power made trying to over coming friction and sticky moving parts. About 20% of normal power at any given speed is lost due to those wear-out factors. Maybe, you might try special additives that correct those problems like Mega Power, which is made to improve mileage by ending the wear problems that lower it. Would reducing the excessive amounts of friction and sticky residues deterring your power be your problem? After 7 years of age, it could well be. Read about this product and see. Maybe it is what you need, not a larger air intake. Hope this idea helps.
would any1 recommend this cold air intake?if yes/no, why?plz write a little review
Hello friend Yes this is a good intake If you fallow all of they instruction on install. So that you don't get the check ENG lite on. And use a good filter as well don't buy cheep as you will just be like the shade tree guy next door. As the air filter alone can add some seriously CFM about 15% to 20%. Also check to see if the unit has an active flood control air duct on it so if you get caught out in the rain you wont suck up water when you go in a dip. This will Hydrolock the ENG and stall you out. If that happens STOP don't try to push stat it as you will throgh a rod out the block. You will need to pull the spark-plugs and crank the water out and then blow it clean. It's a pain to deal with. Good Luck Rob442
