FAQ

does the Dell Inspiron 15z have a backlit keyboard option? it would be the perfect laptop for me if it did. Does anyone have this laptop and is it good? Any problems? Please help me on the backlit keyboard! :) thankyou.
It doesn't, and I can tell you that after having a backlit keyboard on my MacBook Pro, I'd never buy a laptop that doesn't have a backlit keyboard.
Both U and D letters aren't working properly. If i just press the 'D' on the keyboard it doesn't answer, if i press Shift-'D' it will type D , If i want a d i press Caps Lock and Shift-'D', so i can actually write any character, but still something must be wrong.Same is for the 'U' key.
All of the keyboard decoding is done on the keyboard before the data leaves the keyboard. Try a different keyboard
I have a USB keyboard and mouse (combo thingy). I can not use the USB keyboard and mouse when trying to enter setup, boot menu, or anything like that becasue Windows needs to load the driver for it, which it can't do at that point. My motherboard does not support the old PS2 keyboard, so I'm pretty sure I can't use my old keyboard. What do I do? All I really need to do is enter Linux instead of Windows for a little bit (I am dual booting)
Unplug the usb keyboard from the computer, power the computer down completely and remove the power cord/switch the power switch on the power supply wait 30 seconds plug in power, usb, and try rebooting The usb keyboard should work now, if not, you'll need a different keyboard. USB ports sometimes stay active even when the computer is shut down, so you have to do a cold boot to get them to reactivate themselves on bootup to detect a keyboard. You could try another usb port too.
I was using my keyboard then suddenly it stopped working. At first I thought it was the batteries so I changed to fresh batteries, didn't work. Next I thoguht it was the port, so i took my spare keyboard and plugged it in the same port, the port works fine. So I know it is something with the keyboard now. Does anyone have ideas that could fix it.
You may need to reset it. Look on the bottom of the keyboard for a pin hole that is usually used for resetting the keyboard with the wireless receiver. You may need to do additional steps depending on the brand of keyboard so try to find the documentation for it.
According to the keyboard layout selection

I was just wondering if there was such thing as an alphabetical keyboard as opposed to a qwerty keyboard. I know the reason why the typical keyboard is places as qwerty, and so on. If so, how popular are they? Where could I get one? I'm not going to, just to look out of curiosity.
I've never seen one in the store but you can make one. All you need to do is re-map the keys on the keyboard, then pop off and rearrange the actual buttons (keys) to match the newly mapped keyboard. There are utilities in windows that will allow you to custom design your keyboard. Look in Control Panel - System - Hardware Manager
anti-logger sdk ate my keyboard driver, how do I get it back?
Sometimes your keyboard will come with a driver, or at least they used to. If it didn't, then your best bet is to go into control panel administrative tools computer management then navagate to hardware. Look for your keyboard, go to properties, and in there you should be able to uninstall the broken driver. Reboot, and it should work again.
I have a pretty good gaming PC, but I have a pretty crappy small keyboard which I can still play games with. But should I get a gaming keyboard.
What are you planning to do? Do you need extra keyboard macros in your game? then yes If you don't then you shouldn't need a gaming keyboard but just a standard one that will last you years to come
