Even if there was one for under $150 I'm not sure you'd be happy with its performance if the power went out...

I don't have a specific brand to recommend, but rather a strategy. Be sure to buy an extended warranty on your vacuum. At Target or WalMart or Best Buy, for example, these warranties are super cheap and totally worth every penny. Also purchase the vacuum with a credit card. Preferably American Express if you have one. These cc companies will back you and not hold you responsible for the charge if you have a problem with the product and the retailer will not return. Good luck.

Q:How have machines been harmful AND helpful to our society?

Well they create more pollution and cause people to lose jobs sometimes. But they do make our lives easier. I'm glad I don't need to hand wash the clothing for example. Also they save lives like MRI machines, xrays, and so on.

I would learn how to skate with them, and advertise myself as the Dancing Clean-up Woman.

Q:difference between kenmore progressive 35922 and 35923 vacuum cleaners?

The only difference between the two vacuums is that the 35923 has an extra 5' of cord. Aside from that, there are NO differences between the two.

Q:Hi All,Could you recommend some vacuums cleaners which are best for hardwood and tile floors? The one I have now picks up the big stuff ok but leaves behind some pet hair and the smaller dirt/dust particles. I usually have to follow up my vacuuming with the Swiffer. Thanks for your suggestions!

A canister style vac is better as opposed to one of the upright vacs. Why? Because with a canister vac, the hose attachment has special attachments made espcially for hard floors. It is easy to manuever the long arm of the hose around too, where as an upright is large and bulky and won't go into tight corners. I have had a Sears cannister style vac for years with my hard floors and I love it. there is no susbstitute. There is a carpet attachment too, which makes it the most versatile vaccum out there.

Depending upon where you live they would be. Some states are having a tax free week-end that ends today (Sunday) Some states like (New Hampshire) a vacuum cleaner is tax free all the time.
