Q:Beginning in the 1300s, Europeans overturned many of the structures and idea of the Middle Ages. How did the printing press contribute to this revolution?
Several copies of any printed material could be distributed quickly and this led to a wider and wider audience . As the reading public increased, education increased, and the people began to question some of the long held tenets of the ruling class.People wanted to know why, then they wanted to know why not?
Q:check out this home made bench pressI currently don't have a job, so I can't buy weights, and I don't live anywhere near a gym. I have been using a box filled with flour packs (5lb. each) as a bench press weight.Do you think this would give a person almost the same results as a bench press? be honest
Just be VERY careful that the box doesn't break. You don't want five pound bags of flour hitting you in the wrong places.
Q:I currently attend the gym but cannot always get there. I have just started doing press ups each day that I miss, and I was wondering if press ups every morning was a more productive way of working out than going to the gym 3 days a week. Thanks for the help!
I'm not familiar with press-ups are they pushups, or a form of them? Anyway, whatever they are...they are more than likely only targeting one muscle group. To be productive you shouldn't ignore the rest of your body. Think total body workouts. Also don't forget about cardio. Muscular training provides cardio to some degree...but not enough as actually doing cardio would. Cardio is the key to losing weight...and if that's not your goal, it keeps your heart and lungs healthy. Push-ups are an excellent upper body exercises that engages the chest, biceps, traps, and shoulders. But like I said, don't ignore the rest of the body. Do core exercises (planks, vertical leg crunches, russian twists, etc) and lower body exercises like squats and lunges and variations of them. Don't worry about getting to the gym all the time. All the exercises mentioned require just your own bodyweight (and maybe a dumbbell for the Russian Twist). Also unlike the machines in the gym, they are targeting more than one muscle at a time. Example (A russian twist engages the abs, and the obliques, not to mention the arms, and allow spinal mobility) or you can do three different machines to do the same thing. When you do go to the gym, try incorporating more use of freeweights/stabilty balls/resistances bands/medicine balls instead of just machines. Also doing muscle exercises EVERYDAY is not productive. Allow your muscles at least 24-48 hours to recover. Failure to do so could result in overtraining and injury. Best of luck!
Q:Will doing pushups hinder bench press gains?
No. While you are focusing on the pecs and secondarily triceps, they also recruit different muscles. For example, if you can bench press 400lbs, that doesn't mean you can do a push-up if you added weight to your back in order to get added weight + your weight to 400lbs. The converse is also true: just because you can push your body up doesn't also mean that you can bench your body weight. The two are separate things. Another factor is that push-ups are typically done in long sets, or at least that's what you end up striving for. Bench press, and most other lifting, is done with reps anywhere from 1-15 per set (depending on your goals). Do both, as they complement each other.
Q:Now, is it me, or is this workout vaguely effective? Is this truly a genuine chest workout? I have always done flat bench dumbell presses and incline bench presses, and have just introduced the Decline into my workout. Despite this being a new workout for my body, I do not get sore, nor do I feel exhausted. Also, I can Decline about 15 pounds more than I can flat bench and Incline, despite having little experience with the workout. So tell me your opinion; is this a good workout? Is it a true chest exercise? How is it different than Incline/flat? Thanks guys,
I really don't think it's very affective. Really, push ups would more of a chest work out.
Q:yesturday i just got a hard press instead of a relaxer and i spiral wrapped it and this morning my hair came out puffywhat can i do tomorrow to make my hair go straight down
Well a hard press just temporarily straightens your hair where as a relaxer permanently straightens it. So since you only got your hair press, your hair is likely to absorb moisture and puff up. So try to avoid water, rain, sweating, humidity(hot weather) and steam from the shower (you have to tie your hair up). But those are all preventative measures and it seems like the damage has already been done. You probably need to run through it again with a flat iron.
Q:What are some of the Strategies used to restrict freedom of the press or bias when reporting on global issues?Examples would be awesome!
Your website is a good example of America covering up the truth. Feel there is a lot of world leaders that have fell by the wayside and replaced with worse ones thank's to the CIA.
Q:Im making meringue for a back sale and dont want to use a frosting bag. I know i can make meringue with a frosting press but its more expensive than a cookie press. And im more in need of a cookie press considering i have frosting bags and tips. Can i use it and have them still turn out great?
Frosting press? Cookie press? For meringue? No. Not necessary. Take really big glops of meringue out of the bowl with a spatula, and set it on your pie in 3 or four sections, and carefully redistribute the meringue until smooth. Take a tablespoon and make the peaks with the back of it, or swirl with your spatula. Meringue is very delicate, being mostly air if you press it out, you will lose the air.
Q:Is pressed powder only for setting foundation or can you wear the powder alone without any foundation? Some people say that wearing pressed powder alone will give you acne, is that true?
I wear covergirl fresh complexion pocket powder as my foundation. It's pressed powder and gives me light coverage that I love. I wouldn't wear it over foundation that would just be too much. It didn't give me acne. It's lightweight and easy to apply! Love it!
Q:I'm in Girls weights and I can barely bench the 45 pound bar. I can do like 3 reps and then my arms give out. (we do a total of 5.) I can squat 95, incline press 35 and hang clean 35. I really need to be able to bench the 45 pound bar. Thats like the minimum weight for my class. Any tips on building up the muscle fast or something?
Just lie on your stomach and press up as many reps as you can, arching your back. Do this several times a day. It's a very healthy exercise for your back as well as building up for pushups or bench press. You'll surprise yourself how quickly you build strength - 45 pounds is very light, so part of your problem is that your muscles simply aren't used to being worked at all. My guess is you'll be well past 45 pounds before you know it.
