Q: thanks
at my school we just had soil for them and when we changed it we had to look to see if there was ever any 'Babies' I left school before it happened though :( But my teacher loved all his animals so Im sure that is perfectly fine to just use what you got. Good Luck
Q: i was mixed up vermiculite with water in a bowl for gardening purposes now i find out that vermiculite might have abestos in it? should i throw the bowl out or would a good clean save the bowl?
Just okorder
Q: i recently bred my bearded dragons and need vermiculite to put the eggs in.
Most garden centers should have some vermiculite. I've bought it at different ones. Comes in small bags or very large bags.
Q: We have them in an aquarium but we have no idea what they eat, does anyone know and do they need water or do they subtract that from grass and leaves? What kind of bugs do they feast on or do they not eat them? They are HUGE grasshoppers like 3 inches long. Thanks
THERE is never problem if you put wider tires on a wheel than normal. There is a problem if you put smaller tires on a bigger wheel -a big one! PUT THOSE TIRES!
Q: I am planning on breeding leopard geckos, and many sites I've visited say either of these are good mediums to use. The only problem is that I can't seem to find a place that sells either. Anyone know where I can get some?
Hey! Dont quote me on this but vermiculite and asbestos are two different things! People still use vermiculite to this day! Asbestos is the baddy! So if you got vermiculite then don't sweat about it! Just clean it up!
Q: I have 2 african fat tailed geckos (1 male and 1 female) and they always lay eggs. I usually find them flat and dried up and i know it shouldent be like this because they never hatch. Does anyone know how ferile eggs are suppose to feel and look? I read in a book that african fat tailed geckos bury there eggs, so should i leave them where she buried them? What should i do whith them to keep them alive? Help!!
there became into no reason to supply up feeding her interior the 1st place.supply the adverse woman some foodstuff! confirm which you do airborne dirt and mud those crickets like loopy to get her calcium reserves back up.
Q: i am pretty sure one or both of our leos are pregnant and we do have a male, so i need to make a laying box, what substarte- other then soil or vermiclulite can i use? thanks also where can i get it?( i am soo excited)!
It probably doesn't matter too much, especially if you're using rooting hormone. If it were me, I would use a mixture of something porous, like large-grain sand, pumice, vermiculite, or perlite mixed with potting mix. This way, the medium will retain the right amount of moisture, not dry out too quickly, and contain some nutrients.
Q: How do make it more humid for my leopard gecko eggs can I spray the eggs with a little water? How often shOuld I spray my tank and if so the eggs alsowith water to increase humidity? And is spagnam moss an okay substrate for my leopard gecko eggs considering my local pets tore doesn't sell any vermiculite?
I'm guessing your trying the pf tek method. Try Lowes off of Stassney and I-35 for the vermiculite. central market for the brown rice flour. We also have an excellent hydroponic store here in Austin called Bright Ideas off of Congress and 71 for the Perlite and other needs. Good luck.
Q: i have no sign now, but i am worried about my lungs . how can i deal?
There are a variety of different forms of asbestos. Most of the forms are not particularly dangerous, but the dangerous forms are really bad. The worst form is vermiculite, which was sold as insulation for houses. This stuff looks like small pieces of popcorn made out of mica. So, unless you were exposed to vermiculite, chances are you will never have a problem. Also, it usually takes chronic exposure to asbestos over several years to cause lung problems (but there are rare exceptions). You can't undo what's been done, so all you can do at this point if you are concerned is to make an appointment with a pulmonary specialist and get a chest x-ray. The doc can recommend a schedule for monitoring your lungs - maybe chest x-rays every 7-10 years.
Q: I‘ve had my tarantula for about a year and a half. The first substrate I used was coconut fiber. The cage needed to be cleaned so recently I changed the substrate to peat and the tarantula did not like that much so after a few weeks with it keeping on its hide I changed it again, back to coconut fiber. It still stays on its hide and won‘t walk on the substrate, occasionally I see it on the water dish or on the glass on the side of the cage. It has been about a month since I put the coconut fiber in. It still eats the crickets if they wander on the hide. What should I do!? I don‘t know what else I can try.
Go for Peat, or Vermiculite instead. Many of the professional keepers swear by Peat as a substrate, however although peat hold moisture quite well, the following are common problems: Mould, mites, fungus and other unwanted growths. To counter this the substrate should be microwaved (only when it's dry, otherwise their is a possible fire risk!) This will kill any mould or fungus spores, and anything else, such as mites. Vermiculite doesn't tend to encourage mould, fungus or mites. Though some tarantulas, especially arboreal species don't like it as it tends to stick to their feet. You can wet the coconut fibre a little more to encourage burrowing. I use a product called Bed-A-Beast. This product comes in a 4 X 8 X 2 block and when placed in water it yields about 8 litres of bedding. One block fills my five - 10x24 tanks and a dozen small containers for spiderlings.
