Q: The problem: I have a metal(I think) crawl space door thats broken the heads of the nails used to secure it to the concrete off, thus leaving the door on the ground. I can't seem to get the broken nails out of the foundation so, my other option is to drill new holes into the door and the foundation. How do I do this?1. Are crawlspace doors typically metal? (I have a crawlspace door and I'm assuming it's metal)2. What kind of drillbit do I need to drill into it?3. Does anyone have any other ideas?
The reason the metal is sliding around is that the drill bit is too small to keep the hole saw stationary. There are several solutions; A- Buy an appropriate size knockout punch at an electric supply store. B- Clamp the piece you are trying to cut the hole in, to a scrap piece of metal or a piece of 3/4 plywood underneath. That will provide a center hole for the drill bit. If you can't clamp it, stick it down to the plywood with double sided tape. C- Put a wheel collar on the bit. I think that will work. The existing hole is about the same size as a 1/4 wheel collar.
Q: Stainless steel door and aluminum alloy which is good?
Each have their own advantages
Q: Is there a paint that easy paints over metal garage door hardware? Ive seen many commercials about the paint that goes over plastic and all kinds of stuff. I should probably take a trip down to the Home Depot, but I was hoping you guys would have some suggestions! :)
There are paints for every application!! They even have spray paint chalkboards (there a hit with my kids)! You'll have no problem finding what you need. Rustoleum (sp?) is a good brand. Since it's spray paint it allows for easy application just ensure that it's for metals and has weather protectant. I've painted lamppost and other metals and haven't needed to prime it first and it's still holding up fine, no rust in sight.

Q: Aluminum alloy doors and windows of the aluminum wall thickness is better?
1.4 thickness on it
Q: My dog bent off this hard -tile like strong metal-vinyl which is my door. So Now a piece is sticking out and insulation beads are falling out. Where do I buy these metal/vinyl doors? I looked on Home depot but I only saw wood doors or metal screen doors. If it is going to be expensive($300) then I will just leave it like that and let them take my deposit because my dog messed up the carpet. (the door is a white door with rectangle imprints.Thanks
Home Depot carries them,You may have to get a pre-hung rather than a slab. You will be better off going to a door store as it is not as simple as popping a door off and popping a new one on. You have to mortise for the hinges and bore out the door for the lock set and deadbolt. You may find an exact fit,but the chances are slim. And no It wont be really cheap.
Q: What is this material and material?
Aluminum alloy is not the so-called A material and B material of the points, purely nonsense; Aluminum alloy does have good or bad points: the aluminum raw material checks, you can not control the; then you can do is the aluminum wall thickness; Under normal circumstances: aluminum alloy wall thickness --- GB is 2.0 mm wall thickness; aluminum window wall thickness - GB is 1.4 mm wall thickness; These are the standard of engineering; if you are home to their own equipment, that is, retail, are generally non-standard aluminum, wall thickness will be thin; recommendations: the door to 1.5 or more; window in 1.2 or more; ;
Q: The door is structually fine. It has some rust and I would like to change the color. A new door will cost $200+ for same quality. Is it going to be better/cheaper to replace the door or have a painter repaint it? I assume a professional will prime, etc.. Can they actually be repainted to look good?

Q: Our last home had a wooden garage door, so this is new territory for me. The paint on our metal garage door peeled off from the string of hurricanes we had a few years back (Im in east FL). Its now gotten to the point where every time it rains, a little bit more paint peels off. Ive been trying to do some research online, but Ive really only found bits and pieces of info that dont really help me. I was told that I dont need to prep the door because the paint will stick to the original door finish... but my door has exposed metal where there is no finish. What kind of prep work do I need to do? Does the door need to be stripped completely and sanded? How about primer and paint, what should I be looking for? HELP ME.
