Q: Can solar panels be installed on a restaurant or food establishment?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a restaurant or food establishment. In fact, many restaurants and food establishments have already embraced solar energy as a sustainable and cost-effective solution to power their operations. Installing solar panels can help reduce energy expenses, lower carbon footprint, and showcase the establishment's commitment to environmental responsibility.
Q: i check the diodes in the backside of solar panels it reads out to be 0.433 each give me the same result but i was amazed when i check out the last two one which on clamp meter screen give me ''0L'' what this means? is that diode have malfunctions??is this reasons that the output of solar has been decreased?
First of all, make sure that you are taking readings in the dark (with the solar panel indoors and covered). 0.433 is a reasonable forward voltage for a Schottky diode. Ideally, it diode should read open one way (possibly OL for your meter), and 0.4 the other way. If it's reading OL both ways, the diode is bad. You can either unsolder it or cut it out and verify that it is bad.
Q: I have made a 5v dc 52watt solar panel and I going to be trying to charger 4 2v dc 55ah batteries. I get about 6 hours of sun on my panel. Spec below, is that a big enough panel to charge the batteries???I have 30 3x6 solar cells wired together Cell Specifications: (Watts): .75 Wp (Amps): 3.5 Imax (Volts): 0.5 V max which is where I got my 5g 52watt max (if math is wrong plz tell me) The Battery type: 2Volt 55.0ah NB Sealed Lead Acid Battery. I am using a mppt solar charger.
Technically, any solar panel can charge any battery, but it would take quite a long time do do so if it is a large battery. If you are aware of the voltage and either amp or watt rating of the unit that is usually used to charge the battery, the solar panel should have a similar power output to that charger to work well. amps and watts are quite similar, and can be converted with this simple formula: W=watts; V=volts; A=amps; W/V=A; V*A=W; When charging batteries, it is always wise to use less amps than needed, and roughly the same voltage as the battery being charged. The less amps used to charge batteries means the battery will take longer to charge but will last a lot longer in the long-term. Your solar panel should be sufficient to charge the battery, but you should test charge it to see if it works well. I recommend using a multimeter to check the batteries voltage every couple of hours. Once the battery reaches 2v, it should be fully charged. You should also check the amps in case they are not at the expected value (take caution when checking amps with a multimeter, when i do it i always end up melting my multimeter leads). The battery should be fully charged from anywhere between 6-48 hours. if it is charging faster, the solar panel has too much power. if it doesn't charge in this time frame, the solar panel is not powerful enough.
Q: solar panels or light parts
They make lights that have solar panels built into them. Due to the solar cell, they can sense when it gets dark and thus switch on the light automatically. Look at Northern Tool or Harbor Freight web sites for ideas.
Q: I recently got into solar panels, I have little background in electronics but I have done a little electrical work in the past and just want to make a small 36 cell panel to power a 2v battery that would run my a small tv (9 inch) and PS3 for a few hours every night. I have been looking up on how to do it before I get in over my head and I have a few questions.... After you solder all of the cells together then what? Do you hook all of the rows of cells together somehow? Can you connect them straight to a battery? After you hook to the battery do you hook up a power inverter to get the 2 AC plugs that would be needed? Thanks in advance for any help....
You will have to wire them in such a way that provides the battery with the optimal voltage for it to charge, which on a car 2v battery is around 4v. You said you have some background in electronics so this shouldnt be too difficult. You can connect them straight to the battery yes. Like you said, I believe a power inverter from 2VDC to 0VAC would work just fine. PS3 pulls a lot lot lot of current though so it probably wouldnt last too long. Look up the specs for PS3 and see how many amps it is pulling and purchase your inverter based off of that. I remember trying to run an xbox in my car one time and the inverter I had didnt work because of that. Be careful working with batteries, I had one explode in my face about a month ago.. scariest moment of my life! Good luck!
Q: How much candle lights is required to operate a 205 watt solar panel?
That's hard to tell. A solar panel produces somewhere between 7 and 0W per square foot under sunlight exposure. You should calculate the light intensity of sunlight, and then calculate the light intensity of a candle (You'll have to look that up in some physics book or the internet) and then just multiply the number of candles until you match the intensity of sunlight. Realistically, you would need so many candles that you wouldn't be able to fit them in front of the solar panels, assuming you don't end up with a huge fireball.
Q: How Much energy does Solar Panel Produce, and How long can Solar Panels go without maintenance.
Solar panels come in many kinds, using a variety of technologies and sizes, but the most common is still the crystalline silicon type. The power produced is variable, but the better ones you can buy approach 20% efficiency, and the peak energy from the sun is 200W/m^2 (Watts per square meter). This only occurs when the panel is lined up with the sun on a clear day with the sun high in the sky. The efficiency is also affected by how the electrical energy is taken from the panel, and the temperature of the panel. In the full sun the temperature approaches 60C, so the voltage drops. The links below provide a lot of information about such matters. A BP panel 50mm x 674mm gives a peak power of 20W. This is .07 square meters. As you can see this is very close to 20%. (The third link). However this is less in practice because the sun may not be full sun and may not be perpendicular to the panel. The output drops as the cosine of the angle to the sun, more or less. Even with peak sun this would produce only about 00W charging a 2V battery directly, unless an electronic Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) charge control is used.
Q: By best I mean safest places. If I were to install them on my roof am I risking due to damage from weathering? Such as rain or snow. I don't get very high winds around here, nor any natural disasters such as hurricanes or tornadoes. Does anyone have solar panels that have been durable for a long time? Is it worth the investment?
Solar panels have to be installed so that they face the equator, so they would have to point south in the U.S.. There are panels designed for exterior mounting and panels designed to go behind glass walls, I've even seen some that are made to replace roof shingles. You'll have to determine if they are worth it or not. Most companies that manufacture the panels rate the output based on the area in which you live. If you live in the north, payback is usually over 20 years, closer to the equator the payoff is quicker, but still a while. The question of worth is relative: are you trying to save money or help save the world? Any alternative to hydro carbon is great for the environment, but most are still very expensive.
Q: Can solar panels be used for powering security systems?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power security systems. Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity, providing a sustainable and reliable source of power for various applications, including security systems. By harnessing solar energy, security systems can operate efficiently and independently without relying on traditional electrical grids.
Q: How much would it cost to make an average size house be able to depend on solar panels for all of its power? How many solar panels would you need and wear would you put them? Would the roof be large enough to support the panels needed?Do solar panels work well in higher latitudes like northern USA or southern Canada? Can you power your house for the whole year if you live in these environments? What kind of maintenance do solar panels require?
I can begin to point you in the right direction. It is a very complicated thing you are asking about. Solar panels produce direct current, in order to store that power for use at night, and on cloudy days, you need a lot of batteries. Those batteries store direct current. In order to use that direct current to power your refrigerator, you need to put it through a thing called an inverter. The inverter produces AC from DC. You may have seen one for sale to plug into the lighter in a car so you can use things that require AC in your car. The inverter looses power doing the conversion. Over time, you can purchase direct current appliances, and make the system more efficient. Years ago, a decision was made to go with AC because of transmission issues (you can move AC across a wire a long distance, and DC is more difficult to move). Many appliances convert AC to DC internally to do their work, but such appliances are expensive. Have I answered your question? Not really. You should understand your question better though.
