- Q: I just bought an 2009 4-Door Accord with dark grey polished metal color. Having the most difficult time deciding on which rims to get for my car. The following two links are the two I am considering. One is a 5-star and the other is a 7-spoke. Also, should I get a rim with the gun metal (dark Grey) finish, or polished aluminum? I don't like black or shiny Chrome rims---think they look stupid.
- If it was me I'd stick with the stock rims and save my money.
- Q: What type of paint should I use to paint a metal door?
- For the outside you should use exterior paint. I used American Tradition Duramax exterior Satin house paint in white. I found this to give excellent coverage and a very nice finish. For a nice finish use a foam brush or a small foam roller. Using a paint brush will cause brush marks. I bought this at Lowe's. It was expensive but worth since it gives a one coat coverage. Most metal doors come already primed white. If you should need to prime it first use a good interior/exterior primer so it can do both sides. Always use a foam brush or roller. This particular paint is so nice, I don't know why you couldn't use it for the interior. Ask about that at Lowe's and they will give you good advise if it can also be also used for interior. I used it on the interior wood work around the door and windows on my sunroom. Just so you know this particular paint can also have color added. Happy painting!
- Q: we have stripped a metal door frame so that the metal of the frame is bare. what CLEAR coat material can i use that will not turn the metal yellow (as a shellac or laquer would). what product can i use that is NOT waterbased...which would cause the steel to rust?
- Indoor or Outdoor? KBS Coatings makes a RustSeal in clear. It is a moisture-cured urethane that draws moisture out of the metal and atmosphere dries to a rock hard nonporous finish to completely stop rust. The Clear is UV sensitive and may yellow in time but not to the extreme of shellac or lacquer would. Clear can be topcoated with any opaque paint system to avoid this... or perhaps just choose Grey RustSeal. Bottom Line: If stopping rust is the priority, you need RustSeal on the bare metal to block its pores and seal it from moisture oxygen. The paint goes on in thin covering coats. An 8 oz. can will cover 12 sq.ft. with 2 coats.
- Q: Steel doors and windows and broken aluminum doors and windows which is better
- Or with aluminum alloy bars in the foreign steel has long been forced to phase out the long time to have a long hidden safety performance of the basic are almost on the cost of aluminum alloy at that time to your point but a long time non-ferrous metals can increase the value of long plastic has been aging on a text Not worth the reason for the rationality of the two or the high point of the aluminum alloy life is three times the steel is three times the solid level is also much higher, but you still give points or else else will say you mean
- Q: The door is wooden, but the door frame is metal (I found out when the screw wouldn't go in no matter how I hammered it). Is there a way to install a hasp to put padlock on? (Are there screw drivers for metal surfaces?) Or is there any other way to have the door locked without having to installing a cylinder lock?
- The metal door frame is heavy gauge steel. There are 2 ways to do this. #1. Purchase a 1/4-20 tap and a # 7 high speed steel drill bit. Mark the location of your holes for the hasp on the steel door frame. Drill holes with the #7 bit. Run the 1/4-20 tap into the hole slowly and straight - back out the tap after every couple of turns to clean out the holes. Keep running the tap in and out until you are all the way through the steel. Now purchase some 1/4-20 hex head machine screws and install in the holes. #2. Purchase some self drilling screws hex head ( these screws have a drill point on the end of them). You do not need to pre-drill holes for these screws. Simply run them in the hasp holes. Use like a #8 or #10 self drill screw with a hex head probably 3/16 or 1/4 hex head. This is the easiest of the two methods.
- Q: We put a metal storm door up about a year ago and took it off to replace the back door. We left it leaning on our house for some time before putting back up due to painting the trim. Either weather was too hot or too cold so it leaned up against the house for about 9 months. We got all the painting done so we were able to put the storm door back on and now it isnt flush anymore. Its fine at the top but the bottom doesnt quite meet. Did it warp due to being off for so long? And if so, is this fixable? Its not terrible but here in the Dallas area it is so humid that if I leave the back door open, you can feel the mugginess coming in the house. Will it eventually straighten back out?
- Most likely not. I would hold something that is straight against to determine where the bend is. Than I would lay a board over that area and tap the board with a heavy hammer. The board will disperse the hammer blow along the door so it doesn't get dented. Check for straightness, hit it again... etc. At some point it will become straight.
- Q: Titanium Magnesium Alloy Door, Steel Wooden Door Which is more suitable as a bedroom door?
- Steel doors should be better on sound insulation.
- Q: what type of primer is used for metal doors?
- are they steel or aluminum doors and have they been previously painted? if they have been previously painted then all you have to do is give them a light sand and wash them , allow to dry. then apply 2 - 3 coats of an alkyd semi gloss a alkyd porch and floor enamel works very well also. if they are unpainted galvanized steel then give them a light sand and wash with some white vinegar, rinse off and allow to dry. you can use a red oxide primer but it is not needed just apply 1 - 2 coats of an alkyd primer under coater. then apply 1 - 2 coats of an alkyd semi gloss. again you can use a porch and floor enamel. i like to use a 4 inch fabric roller when i do them. make sure to wash the roller well and dry it before using to get rid of any small loose hairs. always give a light sand between coats and make sure you dust them off before painting. use a top quality paint and please don't let them talk you into using a water base paint at the paint store it will not stand up as well as an alkyd paint. if you are able lie your doors flat on some saw horses they will be alot easier to work on that way.
- Q: Aluminum alloy doors and windows installed when the box to be buried in the ground 1CM?
- Alloy doors and windows. According to find the rules to install aluminum doors and windows, and in time to straighten the flat, in its installation position is correct, with wooden wedge temporary fixed. 6, with the expansion of the screw to the iron feet and hole connection fixed. Iron feet to the door and window angle of not more than 180mm, iron feet spacing less than 600mm; aluminum doors and windows into the hole flat horizontal vertical, frame and hole elastic connection firmly, not the doors and windows frame directly buried in the wall. Horizontal and vertical combination, to take sets, lap to form a curved combination, lap length should be 10mm, and sealed with a sealant. 7, the installation of sealant left when the expansion and contraction, generally 20-30mm longer than the doors and windows of the assembly side, at the corner of the ramp open, and paste with adhesive glue firmly, so as not to produce shrink joints; doors and windows for the open screw connection Doors and windows of the same color sealing material will be buried sealed, the lower part of the door to be buried in the ground depth 30-150mm; doors and windows frame with the wall can be removed after the wooden wedge. 8, aluminum doors and windows installed and fixed, the timely processing of doors and windows frame and the wall gap, the use of mineral wool or glass wool mats layered packing gap, the outer surface left 5-8mm deep slotted ointment. - Q: Aluminum alloy doors and windows profiles how to do deformation
- If only the framework of the variant, not inside the glass variant of the good, you can make their own, or called repair workers repair. Aluminum profile of the silicon, magnesium content determines the hardness and toughness of the profile itself does not have time to store the seal must be sealed to avoid oxidation, insulation may also have deformation. Aluminum doors and windows, refers to the use of aluminum extrusion profiles for the box, the tiles, fan production doors and windows known as aluminum doors and windows, referred to as aluminum doors and windows. Aluminum doors and windows, including aluminum alloy for the force of the rod (bear and transfer weight and load the rod) substrate and wood, plastic composite doors and windows, referred to as aluminum composite doors and windows, aluminum composite doors and windows.
