Q: I just bought an 2009 4-Door Accord with dark grey polished metal color. Having the most difficult time deciding on which rims to get for my car. The following two links are the two I am considering. One is a 5-star and the other is a 7-spoke. Also, should I get a rim with the gun metal (dark Grey) finish, or polished aluminum? Q: What type of paint should I use to paint a metal door?: For the outside you should use exterior paint. I used American Tradition Duramax exterior Satin house paint in white. I found this to give excellent coverage and a very nice finish. For a nice finish use a foam brush or a small foam roller. Using a paint brush will cause brush marks. I bought this at Lowe's. It was expensive but worth since it gives a one coat coverage. Most metal doors come already primed white. If you should need to prime it first use a good interior/exterior primer so it can do both sides. Always use a foam brush or roller. This particular paint is so nice, I don't know why you couldn't use it for the interior. Ask about that at Lowe's and they will give you good advise if it can also be also used for interior. I used it on the interior wood work around the door and windows on my sunroom. Just so you know this particular paint can also have color added. Happy painting!

KBS Coatings makes a RustSeal in clear. It is a moisture-cured urethane that draws moisture out of the metal and atmosphere dries to a rock hard nonporous finish to completely stop rust. The Clear is UV sensitive and may yellow in time but not to the extreme of shellac or lacquer would. Clear can be topcoated with any opaque paint system to avoid this... or perhaps just choose Grey RustSeal. Bottom Line: If stopping rust is the priority, you need RustSeal on the bare metal to block its pores and seal it from moisture oxygen. The paint goes on in thin covering coats. An 8 oz. can will cover 12 sq.ft. with 2 coats.

There are 2 ways to do this. #1. Purchase a 1/4-20 tap and a # 7 high speed steel drill bit. Mark the location of your holes for the hasp on the steel door frame. Drill holes with the #7 bit. Run the 1/4-20 tap into the hole slowly and straight - back out the tap after every couple of turns to clean out the holes. Keep running the tap in and out until you are all the way through the steel. Now purchase some 1/4-20 hex head machine screws and install in the holes. #2. Purchase some self drilling screws hex head ( these screws have a drill point on the end of them). You do not need to pre-drill holes for these screws. Simply run them in the hasp holes. Use like a #8 or #10 self drill screw with a hex head probably 3/16 or 1/4 hex head. This is the easiest of the two methods.
