Q: What do I need to use this as a battery charger
I hope this will help you choose your charge controller / battery charger more effectively. Good luck!
Q: im aware i dont fully understand. but with what i do. if P = iv, and current changes with voltage, whats the point of changing either. if in any cicumstance, you end up with the same wattage, how does changing either effect a solar setup. (2v panel vs 24v)thanks in advance. explain in laymans if you can.
The choice of solar panel voltage comes down more to what the panels will be connected to. You're right that power can remain the same at the different voltages. Higher input (panel) voltages are sometimes used in inverter systems to reduce the effect of voltage draw-down. 2v panels (about 20v open circuit) work well for charging 2v batteries, connected in parallel, through a charge controller. For use of a grid-tie inverter, higher input voltages are sometimes used to reduce the effects of draw-down. You want to select and wire (parallel vs. series) your panels based on the input voltage requirement of the load, whatever it may be.
Q: Can solar panels be installed in rural areas?
Yes, solar panels can be installed in rural areas. In fact, rural areas often have more space and sunlight, making them ideal for solar energy generation. Installing solar panels in rural areas can provide access to clean and renewable energy, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and bring electricity to remote communities that are not connected to the grid.
Q: Can solar panels be used for powering a farm or agricultural operation?
Yes, solar panels can definitely be used to power a farm or agricultural operation. Solar energy can be harnessed and converted into electricity to meet various energy needs in the agricultural sector, such as powering irrigation systems, pumps, lighting, and other machinery. By utilizing solar panels, farmers can reduce their reliance on fossil fuels, lower energy costs, and contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly operation.
Q: Green issues aside, are solar panels worth it, monetarily speaking?I don't mean that my house might be worth more or any of that. All I am asking is this: if I invest in a set of solar panels, will the cost be paid back to me over time? If so, how long will it takegt;Take into account the following:. Currently I pay the electric company around $00 per month2. I use around 400 kilowats of energy per monthI realize that exact numbers are hard to come by, but any opinions are welcome.
There are several factors to consider when looking into solar power for your house. If you want to replace your use of utility electricity with solar power for say a 500 - 2000 square foot home then the system will cost you at least $30000 - $50000 to install. You will also have the maintenance issue of your storage batteries, panels, and inverter which will eventually wear out over time. So lets say we have an optimistic price of $30000 for a whole house system (this would be really cheap), dividing this by your yearly consumption would give you the amount of years it would take for the expenditure to pay for itself (not counting maintenance which could be costly). The payoff would be about 25 years, so all things remaining equal, I would say that it is a bad investment. Solar panels as they are manufactured today do not have a very long life span. They will greatly decrease in efficiency after several years and will most likely need to be replaced in 0 years. The panels themselves are the greatest expense. You could problably find better ways to make/save more money by investing $30000 - $50000 somewhere else IMHO. Solar technology is still not at the point where it is profitable in the sense you are thinking about. Unless of course, there are huge tax incentives for you or large rebate programs through your local utility, but you would have to do the math on that as well. If you are thinking small as in a couple panels to supplement your utility electric, the above still applies as well. In fact will it take longer to recoup the cost of a smaller setup. Hope this helps!
Q: I'm going to this camp and the instructors asked us to be prepared tomorrow to build a sun tracker for a solar panel. Does any one have any ideas, tips, or advice?
Since the sun moves in the sky on a very predicatable course you don't need a closed loop control system to track it. All you need is a clock-drive motor and the proper gearing for your latitude. The clock drive motor will move at a constant rotational velocity based on time, and when it is geared down properly the angle of the shaft will follow the sun. Make sure the clock motor is powerful enough to move the solar panel, etc. That's a start, anyway. .
Q: Can solar panels be installed on boats or RVs?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on boats or RVs. In fact, they are increasingly popular as a renewable energy solution for these mobile vehicles. Solar panels on boats and RVs can help generate electricity for various applications, such as powering appliances, lighting, or charging batteries. They provide a sustainable and cost-effective way to harness solar energy while on the move.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on a commercial building?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a commercial building. In fact, many businesses and organizations are increasingly adopting solar energy to reduce their carbon footprint and save on energy costs. Installing solar panels on commercial buildings can help generate clean, renewable energy and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on drones?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on drones.
Q: I am doing a school project and we need to find the cost of solar panels for our school. The problem is i don't know what size the system needs to be. Is it 000 watts or 000000 watts? Also can you find the cost of the system? Thanks
