Q: I am an Environmental and Safety Manager major in college and would like to here some of your concerns. Thanks!!!
They are called lighting rods , so you are correct.
Q: A friend of mine gave me a used Mac Pro he found. Everything works fine except it has one of those annoying cable locks clamped on the back. He said he took bolt cutters to the cable to try and shorten it, but the lock part and a few inches of cable remain. I tried pulling on it and twisting it, but nothing works. I can't see a brand name on it, but its a combination type.
The Darcy equation is : Head loss fLV^2/ 2dg For fittings : head loss KV^2/2g If you have no friction , the head loss in pipe is negligible but it also depends on the type of flow , laminar or turbulent, turbulent flow will have more losses ! Then the only loss left out is fittings loss and that will be the major loss in the piping for example losses through valves, nozzles, tees, bends etc.
Q: I was cooking earlier and my smoke detectors went off. I live in an apartment complex and have three alarms (one in the hallway, and one in each bedroom). My husband had to take the one in the hall and one of the alarms in a bedroom off and unplug the alarm completely. The one in the other bedroom at that time was not going off so he left it up. Yet, that alarm is blinking rapidly a green light. An hour or so later we tried to plug in the other two alarms, yet they won't stop going off once attached by a/c power. I can't figure out what I need to do, I am so tired of listening to this alarm and I am worried to unplug the only remaining working alarm. (even though it is flashing rapidly a green light)Any help is appreciated, thanks!
I stayed in Redding when I made that trip. As you come South, it depends on which road you take. If you go to the 5 it is a fast trip and a stop at Harris Ranch is a must for a good steak dinner. If you take the 101 try a stop in Gilroy, Solvang or Pismo Beach. If you go through Fresno, a stop their is nice.
Q: Has anybody any problems with their Iridium shields flaking? It seems that the mirrored finish and color are starting to flake off around the bottom edge and the tab you use to flip the shield up with. Ive only had the shield for a few months and have only been really caught in the rain once. I use the Motosport Cleaner and Polish to clean it. Any ideas would be most welcome. Thanks
No, the glue won't work. Just go to Home Depot and get the PEX fittings. They will attach PEX to CPVC.
Q: Can someone translate this to english (from korean)?
Burst implies a domestic water pipe, hot or cold, so the answer will be based on that implication. Determine the size of the pipe. Likely it will be either 1/2 or 3/4, likely copper. Determine the extent of the burst. If from a freeze, likely it will be a split along the length of the pipe, anything from a few inches to (rarely) over a foot. Go to your local big-box store and purchase a length of PEX of the appropriate size that is at least six inches longer than the damaged area. PEX usually comes in short pre-cut lengths or in a 100' or 200' roll. A pre-cut length will do it in most case. Purchase two Shark-Bite couplings to match. If you do not have a pipe-cutter, for what you will save from calling a plumber, you can afford to buy one, and a good one at that. The PEX can be cut with a sharp kitchen knife. Cut out the bad section + a little bit from each end - 3 or so. Cut the PEX to match the gap, less about 1/2 on either side. Install the fittings - left end fitting to copper; PEX; right end fitting to PEX; fitting to copper. Be sure to bottom the fittings as you go. Less than $40 including a Ridgid pipe cutter. Less than $20 otherwise. It is not rocket science, all you need is patience and a little bit of hand-strength. Ask the person in the store to show you how to use the cutter, and even how to use the fittings. Once you learn, you will be prepared for the next time. NOTE: If you use a hack-saw to cut the pipe ILO a tubing cutter, be sure to cut slowly and not force the pipe out-of-round. Cut all the way through - don't be tempted to break off the last bit. Clean the rough edges with a file and get the marl (cutting waste) out as best you can. In either case, when you turn the water back on, run a hose or tub fixture for at least a minute to get any displaced particles out. Good luck with it.
Q: if I don't have a hunting licence, but my girlfriend does, can I be with her while she hunts?
Bubble Wrap was invented, by pleased accident, 50 years in the past. Two American engineers, Alfred Fielding and Swiss-born Marc Chavannes, had been seeking to invent a new form of effortless-to-clean, effortless-to-cling plastic wallpaper (this was 1957, take into account, when plastic and ease were considered to be the way forward for dwelling décor) when - pop! - they discovered that their unusual production made a splendid light-weight packaging fabric. Chavannes and Fielding situated the Sealed Air manufacturer in Saddle Brook, New Jersey, three years later, and ever on account that we have been wrapping gentle objects in their terrific invention, as good as popping the bubbles as a form of stress relief or conveniently considering the fact that we just like the sound. There are plenty of Bubble Wrap copies on hand on the sector market, but only a few are made so good or pop so satisfyingly. One of the few joys of moving condominium is the threat to consult with a DIY retailer as a way to purchase a significant roll of Bubble Wrap. The stuff looks good, works well and is a kind of rare designs - a easy, workaday product that could be a actual joy to use. Perpetual bubblewrap to pop for your computer see link
Q: I mean each MM is different shape, size and color. How do they individually print the letter M on each one without getting multiple m stamps on each one? Does each one stop in a little chute that stops them from moving then stamps the M, then drops it to continue on its journey to my stomach? I don't know. Skittles are shaped to match all other skittles, and so are the regular mm's. But the peanut MM's, thats a boggle to the mind.
There are Hubless fittings and parts for this that you may obtain from your local plumbing supply house - including slip fittings to make up unusual lengths. Rent a chain cutter to make nice square cuts and take it from there. Your supply house will cut you a new piece to-size if necessary and give you the exact fittings you need if you bring them a dimension and a piece of the old pipe. With the right tools and patience, this is no more than a couple of hours work on a bad day. Less than an hour on a good one. Do it right and DON'T try to weld it. That will cause almost immediate failure of the pipe around the weld due to compositional change from the heat.
Q: What are some good lab safety rules? Are the Physics rules any different from that of Biology or Chemistry?
I don't know that this is a vent pipe. We get this problem when we run hot water. The hot water makes the copper pipes expand. When our addition was built, the plumber should have used fittings that did not cause this problem. Unless you want to open up the walls, you're stuck with it. In our case, it makes as much noise in the summer as it does now.
Q: I have pretty reasonable mech knowledge but not with turbos, Ive been reading a little on draw thru and blow thru turbo setups, I have access to turbos piping and intercoolers and my engine is a rotary 13b carbi fed engine(Its a toy and I dont care if I wreck it in the process)Anyone done their own?any reccomendations or advice?bare in mind Im not after a drag-car setup just a stupid lil booster to mess around with on fridays after work
i'd go to the hardware and buy a double compression fitting cut the pipe as needed and put the fitting in. it will last forever. . these fixes are just that fixes what you want is to repair the problem. i've been seeing and getting info on these quick fixes for years like mike holmes says if you're gonna do it , do it right. your hardware clerk can tell you what to do, just make sure you know what size pipe diameter you have. a pin hole is going to keep getting bigger just like a cavity on your tooth will. and in comes murphy's law
Q: Hi, I'm trying to install a remote start system on my truck but I cant find the factory alarm system wires. I don't have a diagram for a 2011 because there isn't one available yet. I don't know if my truck even has an alarm system. On the key fob, there is a panic button.. would this be considered the alarm? If so, if anyone knows exactly where (in the kick panel) the factory alarm wires are, pleeease fill me in. (PS. If I lock the doors with the fob, and then try to open the door, or unlock it with the key, no alarm goes off)Thanks.
Uhm no, (I don't think a fire would be funny. Yeah it's nice to get out of class but not for something like a school to catch on fire) I usually jump because it's quiet in class sometimes and then you hear the fricken loud asss alarm, it scares me.
