Q: i recently just bought a new gaming computer from ibuypower. it isnt supposed to come untill january, and as i was looking over the order sheet, i realized i bought an amd fx 8150 CPU 3.60 GHz. after looking online and doing some research, i found that ALOT of people are saying that the amd bulldozer is an epic fail. BUT i do have a high end graphics card. (amd radeon hd 6970) will i be able to run games at a good fps with this CPU/ GPU combination? please no intel or amd fanboy comments, im only looking for facts, not opinions. thanks in advance.: Sadly, yes. The bulldozer series was a pretty big flop. However, they overclock VERY well(overclocked mine a whole 1 Ghz with multipliers alone, and it runs very cooly), so that should definitely help with performance. You do have a pretty good GPU, so that should definitely make up the difference. The only reason people say that they are terrible though is because of the price to value ratio. The fx-4100, which is what I have, performs really well, especially for its price. It's just not the best on the market. PLus, if you look at the benchmarks, it falls behind intel by just a bit, but its low price makes up for it. So overall, you could have gotten a better CPU for the price, but since it has an AM3+ socket, you probably got a motherboard that supports that, and that type of socket is more future proof.

Anyone see the iorny in this?: I completely see what you mean. Just like someone said, with Jeff suspensions and firings, they still push him because all the young fans scream when he appears. One thing that really gets to me is between Jeff and Matt. Not to mention Jeff went to TNA and they didn't want much to do with him after a year either. While Matt has stayed with WWE even though he must have known people inside the company knew about the Edge/Lita affair before he did. And at least Matt can talk on the mic, unlike Jeff who has said about half a dozen words in just as many years. Thanks for any input.: First off, bulldozer isn't coming out until at least September now, just so you know. Also, the prices already have come down quite a bit. They were around $300 a year ago. PSU: It's just barely going to cut it when it's brand new and they're less efficient at full capacity. I would pick a new one with some room for capacitor aging and potential upgrades - something like 750 watts. Also consider modular power supplies, they're much easier to deal with. Case: I like Cooler Master. Motherboard: Asus is good. AM3+ is forwards compatible. Good. GPU: Great. RAM: That's overclocker's RAM. You could get 1333 or even 1066 and not lose a single fps. If you do some research and carefully overclock, you would still only need 1600 unless you wanted to do an extreme overclock. Only the geekiest of the geeks should bother with extreme overclocks since they don't help performance very much more than a normal overclock will and they're more dangerous and shorten the life of your processor. Also, AMD chipsets benefit more from low CL more than they do from high mhz. CPU: For gaming you only need 4 cores, but an extra couple of cores won't hurt anything, they just cost a little more.
