Q: How are plastic bird spikes used for bird control in agriculture?
Plastic bird spikes are commonly used in agriculture to deter birds from landing or nesting on structures such as fences, rooftops, and ledges. These spikes feature thin, pointed rods made of durable plastic material, which make it uncomfortable for birds to perch or roost. When installed strategically, the spikes create a physical barrier that prevents birds from accessing these areas, thus reducing damage to crops, sheds, and other agricultural facilities caused by bird activities.
Q: What are the advantages of using plastic seedling tubes in forestry?
Plastic seedling tubes offer several advantages in forestry. Firstly, they provide protection to young seedlings against weather conditions, pests, and browsing animals, increasing their survival rate. Secondly, these tubes create a microclimate that promotes faster growth and development of seedlings, leading to earlier establishment in the field. Additionally, plastic tubes allow for easier handling and transportation of seedlings, reducing the risk of damage during planting. Moreover, the transparent nature of the tubes enables easy monitoring and evaluation of seedling growth, facilitating better management practices. Overall, plastic seedling tubes offer a cost-effective and efficient solution for promoting successful reforestation efforts.
Q: Do I have remove the labels? Do I have to removed the colored plastic cap? What if they are different shapes and sizes? Can I put them all together? Can I put the clear plastics (like for soda) with unclear plastics (like for punch) together? Can I take it to the little stations outside of supermarkets to recycle? I know they recycle cans.
They recycle by the grade of the plastic. All your water and soda bottles are a #1 plastic (look on the bottom of container and there is a # 1-7 inside a triangle. Most places will not pay you for your milk jugs. Bring all materials to recycler and he/she will help you. Once or twice and you'll be a pro!! Oh, you dont have to remove labels or caps.
Q: I need to find metallic paint for both metal and plastic surfaces, but it CANNOT be spray on. (the fixtures I'm painting can't be removed) Any suggestions?
Most paints are good for both metal and plastic. - but you have to prepare the surfaces - sanding the surfaces is pretty good. Paint stores sell a de-glosser that will prepare them to be painted. --- You don't want to use spray paint - but walmart sells a spray paint especially made for slick surfaces (plastic and metal) -- maybe a paint store would sell paint in a can that is also made for slick surfaces (metal and plastic that has not been sanded) edit: only a light sanding is needed to prepare the surface.
Q: Can nursery trays be used for growing water lilies?
Yes, nursery trays can be used for growing water lilies. These trays provide a suitable environment for water lilies to grow, as they allow for proper water retention and root development. However, it is important to ensure that the trays are large enough to accommodate the size of the water lily plant and that they can hold enough water for the plant's needs. Additionally, proper care and maintenance should be provided to the trays and water lilies to ensure healthy growth.
Q: How do you prune and trim ground cover plants?
Pruning and trimming ground cover plants involves removing any dead or diseased branches, as well as cutting back overgrown or straggly growth. The best approach is to use sharp, clean pruning shears or hedge trimmers to make precise cuts. It's important to ensure that at least one-third of the plant remains after pruning to maintain its health and vigor. Regularly monitoring and trimming ground cover plants will help promote dense growth and keep them looking neat and well-maintained.
Q: Can ground cover be used to create a vegetable garden?
Yes, ground cover can be used to create a vegetable garden. Ground cover plants, such as clover or low-growing herbs, can help suppress weeds, retain moisture, and improve soil health. They also provide a natural mulch layer, preventing soil erosion and regulating temperature. However, it's important to choose the right ground cover plants that won't compete with the vegetables for nutrients or space, and to ensure proper spacing and maintenance to allow the vegetables to grow successfully.
Q: How do plastic bottles hurt the environment?I know that the way they make certain kinds of plastics pollute the environment, but how does a plastic bottle on the side of the road harm the environment?...possibly something about PVC's?Please help. It's urgent.Thank you.
Plastic bottles can harm the environment in several ways: 1. Animals can either eat them and choke, or smaller ones get stuck in them 2. As time goes by they degrade and thus leave in the soil nitrites which are pure poison. 3. They are not aesthetic
Q: Can nursery trays be used for starting a herb garden?
Yes, nursery trays can be used for starting a herb garden. They provide a convenient and organized way to germinate herb seeds or propagate herb cuttings. Q: i had a lot of hamster and they are keep on dying. i got one yesterday and it was keep on biting the plastic once i let it out. is it the plastic that is killing it.
Well, if it's a TINY LITTLE BIT of plastic, he'll be okay. My hamster bites on her cage bars every night, and she bites the white paint off so now the bars are gray-and-white-stained, and she's fine. Hamsters poop out tiny little bits of things. But if it's a LOT of plastic, your hamster's intestines will be blocked-up, and he will probably die. Sorry. :( I suggest that you get him a wire/metal-bar cage. That's what my hamster has, and there are absolutely NO problems!!! :) Plus, my old hamster used to bite the plastic, too, and it would get all frayed and stuff, and she would escape. :( So, yeah. I recommend a metal cage. Your hamster won't have the chance to eat plastic, and.... voila!!! :) He'll be okay!!! :)
