Q: What are the different types of plastic sheeting used in agriculture?
There are several types of plastic sheeting commonly used in agriculture, including high-density polyethylene (HDPE), low-density polyethylene (LDPE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA). These materials are used for various purposes such as mulching, greenhouse covers, silage bags, and soil fumigation. Each type of plastic sheeting offers different characteristics and benefits, catering to specific agricultural needs and requirements.
Q: For instance: maraijuana smell gets through a plastic bag. How does this work?
have you ever seen a balloon wrinkle and wither over time? this is because the air molecules move through the woven structure of the latex balloon and are released, the weave is extremely tight, and that's why it takes a long time for the balloon to loose air. the same hapens with a plastic bag.
Q: Can ground cover be used to create a sense of contrast in a garden?
Yes, ground cover can definitely be used to create a sense of contrast in a garden. By using different types of ground cover plants with varying textures, colors, and heights, you can create a visually striking contrast that adds depth and interest to your garden. Whether you opt for low-growing shrubs, flowering plants, or foliage plants, the use of ground cover can help create beautiful contrasts in your garden landscape.
Q: How do I with common household chemicals?
Well that is a tough one because most paint removers/thinners will end up damaging the plastic. but one method you can try is to use Rubbing Alcohol. First- gently scrape as much of the paint off as you can with a blade. Next, pour rubbing alcohol over what ever paint was left over from the previous step. I would suggest letting it sit for 5-10 minutes (you will need to put more alcohol on it regularly because alcohol evaporates fast) Then you will want to rub the area with paper towels to clear off the remaining paint. Finally give it a good wash with warm water and dish soap and one more quick scrubbing with a sponge (or my personal favorite a - Mr. Clean Magic Eraser) and that should give you a good result. If that fails try to use a Goo Gone or Goof Off. These are both found at mostly any hardware store and are actually quite effective. Well I hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck. - Adam -
Q: Can nursery trays be used for propagation?
Yes, nursery trays can be used for propagation. Nursery trays are specifically designed to provide a suitable environment for propagating plants from seeds, cuttings, or divisions. They typically have multiple compartments or cells to separate and support each individual plant, allowing for efficient and organized propagation. Additionally, nursery trays often have a bottom tray to collect excess water and maintain proper moisture levels for optimal root development.
Q: Can ground cover be used as a lawn alternative?
Yes, ground cover can be used as a lawn alternative. Ground cover plants like clover, creeping thyme, or moss can be low-maintenance, provide erosion control, suppress weed growth, and offer a more diverse and aesthetically pleasing alternative to traditional lawns.
Q: What is the UV resistance of nursery trays?
Nursery trays typically have good UV resistance, as they are designed to withstand prolonged exposure to sunlight without degrading or fading.
Q: What are the benefits of using plastic bird nettings for crop protection?
Plastic bird nettings offer several benefits for crop protection. Firstly, they act as a physical barrier, preventing birds from accessing crops and causing damage. This helps in reducing crop losses and increasing yield. Secondly, plastic nettings are lightweight and easy to install, making them a convenient option for farmers. Additionally, they are durable and weather-resistant, providing long-term protection against bird damage. Lastly, plastic nettings are cost-effective compared to other bird control methods, making them a practical choice for farmers. Overall, plastic bird nettings are an effective and efficient solution for protecting crops from bird-related threats.
Q: How do I control weeds in ground cover?
There are several ways to control weeds in ground cover. One effective method is to regularly pull out any visible weeds by hand, making sure to remove the roots as well. Another option is to apply a layer of organic mulch, such as wood chips or straw, which helps suppress weed growth by blocking sunlight and preventing weed seeds from germinating. Additionally, you can consider using weed barriers or landscape fabric to create a physical barrier that inhibits weed growth. Finally, using herbicides specifically formulated for ground cover weeds can be an option, but it is important to carefully follow the instructions and use them sparingly to avoid damaging the ground cover plants.
Q: Can ground cover plants withstand foot traffic?
Yes, ground cover plants can withstand foot traffic to some extent, but it depends on the specific type of ground cover and the amount of foot traffic they receive. Some ground covers, such as creeping thyme or clover, are more tolerant of foot traffic and can handle being stepped on occasionally. However, excessive foot traffic or heavy constant use can damage or even kill ground cover plants.
