It's software on a chip on the motherboard. Settings can be changed, but If it's fried, your computer becomes unusable and needs to be trashed. Bootstrap loader and the other problems you are describing sound more like operating system problems. This kind of problem can usually be solved by backing up files (remove the hard drive and put it into another computer as a slave or external drive if necessary for backup). Then put it back into your computer and reformat and reinstall OS and all updates. If this doesn't make sense to you, try to get someone with a little experience to help you. It's not rocket science, but it can get a little tricky.

Q: I have a top loader Maytag washing machine that is approximately 6 years old. In the past week, it has been making an extremely loud noise while agitating, it almost sounds like something or someone is inside the machine banging on a drum. Could a coin have gotten in the agitator? Q: My maytage washer is making alot of noise when running why ? Its when its on the spin cycle: Maytags are pieces of sh!t, if you get my drift. That noise is the contact between the moving magnetic end of the spinning drum and the static assembly which holds the outer magnets. You best need to contact whom ever you bought it from and prey that you are either still in warranty or not. As I said maytags are the WORST MACHINES THAT YOU CAN BUY. Why do you think that their commercials always picture a really bored repairman. It's because you need a winch to get them out of their f/ing beds.
