- Q: Hello, I am shopping for solar panels for my home and there are so many to choose from. My house uses 40 Kw of power a day. If you had to choose from the output power of a solar panel from below, which one would you choose and why would you choose it? 2 Volts 4 Amps 48Watts2 Volts 8.5 Amps 02Watts6 Volts 7 Amps 2Watts24 Volts 4.2 Amps 00.8Watts24 Volts 8 Amps 95Watts
- the two may well be extra effective. while it particularly is cloudy and little solar (wintry climate) you have got a breeze. while it particularly is nonetheless and sunny, you have the solar. while the batteries are charged, extra potential from the windmill would nicely be shunted right into a resistance heater in a water tank, preheating important different and infants water, reducing that cost. draw back of windmills: there is a few noise. you do choose a tower of a few variety to get above treeline. it particularly is mechanical, so it particularly is going to choose periodic upkeep and would injury, or will placed on out, or be broken in a windstorm. Panels will final for some years, in simple terms would desire to be wiped sparkling of snow interior the wintry climate, and washed off, in case you reside in a dusty section. they are hard, however the glass would nicely be broken.
- Q: My house uses 500 kw a month, air conditioning is the main consumer, is it possible to install solar panels in my roof to produce this amount, and aproximate cost, thanks .
- Replace your compression driven airconditioner with a gas fired absorption cycle air conditioner (there'll be a government subsidy or grant for that due to the R22 being phased out), install vacuum tube solar thermal collectors at a tenth the price of solar photovoltaics and use the hot water for the absorption cycle heat source with the natural gas burners as a backup. This avoids all the energy losses involved in the various energy conversions and solar thermal uses all wavelengths of solar energy while many photo-voltaics uses only one wavelength (newer dye based, multi layer, and quantum dot photovoltaics are all about using more than one wavelength of light). Solar thermal will also give you hot water and residential heating which are the other two big energy uses in a home. If you are bent on spending ten times the money on photovoltaics instead of solar thermal then figure out how many hours you actually run your AC for, use the filter replacement counter on your programmable thermostat to give you how long your fan is running in days and multiply that by 24 then divide your 500 kw/hrs by this value and since the power company only buys power from you at half the price that they will sell it to you at and you will have to buy power back at night, multiply by a fudge factor of say .5, this gives you a rough estimate of how many watts of solar panels you'll need to install in kilowatts, multiply this by 0,000 and that's roughly how much it will cost you in dollars (assuming $0 per watt installed, solar cells can be as low as $ per watt to manufacture but those aren't available yet and you also need to have them assembled into panels and installed so $0 per watt is a reasonable figure, people usually use values from $4 per watt through $9 per watt). Then after you get over the sticker shock, reconsider solar thermal.
- Q: Are there government incentives for installing solar panels?
- Yes, many governments provide incentives for installing solar panels. These incentives can include tax credits, grants, rebates, and low-interest loans to encourage individuals and businesses to adopt solar energy.
- Q: What happens to solar panels during a power outage?
- During a power outage, solar panels are unable to generate electricity because they rely on the grid to function. This is because most solar panel systems are grid-tied and do not have a battery backup. Without power from the grid, solar panels are effectively rendered inactive until the power is restored. However, there are alternative solar panel systems with battery storage that can continue to provide electricity during an outage.
- Q: Can solar panels be used to power a farm?
- Yes, solar panels can be used to power a farm. They can generate electricity from sunlight, which can be utilized to operate various farming activities such as irrigation systems, lighting, and machinery. Solar power offers a sustainable and renewable energy solution for farms, reducing dependence on traditional fossil fuel-based electricity and potentially reducing operating costs.
- Q: I want to get a solar panel to run a fan (or two) for swamp coolers.I'm not looking to power 20box fans, just maybe some of those auto fans. What the heck kind of panel do I need? What is a power inverter and what does it do?Will I lose all my power if I use a 00' extension cord? How do I choose what I'm going to need?
- Any fan you find in a store is going to expect AC, not DC, which is what solar panels produce. An inverter changes DC to AC. You'll probably want a deep cycle car battery to smooth out overages and underages. Any fan will tell you how many watts it uses. Panels should (i haven't looked) tell you how many watts they produce. Just off hand, I'd guess you're looking at a 2'x4' panel. Considering how much you'll be paying for the rest of the stuff, a good 00' cord is appropriate,. Last, it's worth the experience, but you'll never recover the cost of everything that you'll have to buy. Have fun.
- Q: I found portable solar panels used for boats etc. and was wondering how I could effectly use them for my home instead. If you have used them in the past, please tell how they worked (good or bad).
- well i highly dout that solar panels ued for boats and rvs will work the same for your house, because your house requires more energy to run then a solar power can give.
- Q: I need to know how solar photovoltaic panels work. Anyone have a good explanation?
- Hey E Girl, photovoltiac panels are pretty simple. They start with a solid block of silicone, and shave thin layers off of them, called wafers. Once you have about 72 of them, you take half of them and dope them with boron, then the other half are doped with phosphorous. Once that's done, they take one each phosphorous and boron wafer, and glue them together with a special conductive epoxy glue, and attach a wire to each wafer. When the two glued wafers are exposed to the sun, a reaction occurs that forces free electrons from the silicone particles from one wafer onto the other, and a voltage is generated between them, about /2 volt to be exact. Once all 36 pairs are glued together, they are wired in series, connecting the phosphourous wafer from one to the boron wafer on the next, and so on. If you start with 72 wafers, you'll have 36 pairs glued together when you are done. At /2 volt each, that makes a 8 volt panel, which is used to charge a 2 volt battery. The charging source always has to have a few more volts than the battery. These 36 pairs of cells are then arranged on some kind of back board, glued down, covered with acrylic glass and mounted in a frame. There are some great websites you can go to for more info, I will list some below. Did you know that there are over 00,000 homes and businesses in the US alone that use some level of solar power to operate their electrical systems? That's good news. We actually live in one of those homes, it is powered by both the wind and sun and heated with solar and wood. I hope this answers your question, good luck, and take care, Rudydoo
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a building with historical significance?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a building with historical significance. Many historical buildings have successfully incorporated solar panels into their design without compromising their architectural integrity. This allows for the preservation of historical structures while also promoting sustainable energy practices.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on research facilities or laboratories?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on research facilities or laboratories. Solar panels are a viable and sustainable energy solution for these types of buildings, providing clean and renewable power. The installation of solar panels on research facilities or laboratories can help reduce their carbon footprint, lower energy costs, and contribute to a greener and more sustainable environment.
