- Q: How many solar panels would it take to run an electric motor the needs 480 volts and pulls about 45 to 50 amps?
- Maybe you should call up a local solar installation company and ask them. They'll be able to give you the most accurate answers - I did that too, and it was the smartest thing. Just be sure that they're reliable and they know what their talking about it! This is the company I used -
- Q: Alright my family and i are buying a new home in Bradford,Ontario, we we thinking about solar panels and had a couple questions:. how much are they each?2. how many will we need to power a single family home(4 ppl)3. where can we find them in ontario?4.how much money do they really save you?5.what kind of energy do they providfe you withand other basic info or a website i can check out would be great!thanks in advance!
- the first person is absolutely wrong. A 200 watt panel is $000US. By the time you buy mounting systems, wire, inverters, electric panels, interconnects, labor and permits/inspections, the cost is about $7/watt. if you use 700 kw-hr (please look at the units, you use kw-hr NOT kw) per month that 24 kw-hr per day. in your area, a pv system will supply about 4 hours at peak production of the panels, so you will need 6kw in panels, that's about 30 panel or $42,000 in equipment.
- Q: I'm a student trying to design a mounting structure for solar panels. I'm reading about passive trackers so as to track the sun for optimal energy production; but I am not fully quot;seeinghow it works. Can someone please help explain it to me, or at least send me a link(s) that could help explain it well?THANKS IN ADVANCED!! [and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!]
- It appears to be relying upon a phase change of liquid to gas to liquid to balance the system and return it to the east in the morning.
- Q: Okay, I think I understand what I'm doing, but I want to set up some solar panels on the roof of my garage, the building that gets the most sun, and I want to make sure all my math is correct in determining number of megawatts per year. However, my knowledge of electrical terms in quite n00bish, to say the least. Here is what I think I should be doing. The solar cells come at .75 Watts average power.I will install 4 panels of 64 cells each, with a total of 256 cells.
- For comparison, 36 of these make a normal 2V x 50W panel. Note they are not tabbed. This means you have to find a way to connect them yourself. The tabs are probably spot welded on by the suppliers. A supplier below has kits of these with tabs, as needed to connect them together. These are not suitable for grid connect, because the higher voltage needed makes do it yourself panels a dangerous and litigious thing to have on your roof. Maybe you could buy a smaller pack from the link below to compare tabbed and untabbed and work out what to do. Your power calculation is a bit incorrect because the sun is only present some of the time. The 36 cell module would produce 50W when square on to the full sun. The sun may be out for around 2h a day in some places and times of the year. However it is the equivalent of 5h full sun, because of the changing angle throughout the day. Look this up on the internet for your region. Temperate zones may be a lot less. One pack in your link is 36x3 = 08 cells. Thus 50W per pack x 5h a day gives 750Wh per day and 274KWh/y. In reality it will always be less because of regions, weather, clouds, dust, inefficiencies, aging of cells.
- Q: How long does it take a 5 watt, 2 volt solar panel to charge a 2 volt R.V. battery?
- Most solar panels have something called a charge controller on them. This prevents electricity from going backwards from the battery to the panel. Solar panels are rated at 2V but they do put out a little more than that during full sun operation. You didn't specify the size of your battery but it really doesn't matter. It comes down to your consumption of power. If you are only charging the RV battery so it maintains a charge when you don't use it very much, a 5 watt panel is fine. It will charge the battery and keep the small drains on the battery from making it go dead ( the clock radio, the theft deterrent system, etc use power even when RV is off) But if you are using the battery to run things when you are parked, you probably don't have a big enough panel. If you use a 30watt fluorescent light and a 00 watt laptop, you need 30 watts of power saved up every hour in your battery and that's with no inefficiencies. So if your panel puts out 5 watts an hour and you are using 30 watts an hour, you need 30 watts/ 5 watts = 9 hours minimum of charge time to run your stuff for just one hour. You probably need a panel of around a 00 watts to get any meaningful use of your battery. Plus, you never want to run your battery to full drain because it ruins the plates inside the battery. Watts = volts x amps. If you have 2 volts panels, you would charge at 8 amps with a 00 watt panel. This is a good charge rate. Any more than this and you risk warping the plates with too much heat.
- Q: My family moved into a house that came with solar power panels but they are not connected and don't really understand how to even begin.
- You will need help with this. Panels may or may not be 24 volt. If you can find a name tag, you can find out from the manufacturer's web site. Some folks hook them all in parallel. Mine are in series, to create 480 volts. the reason for going to higher voltage is to reduce power loss in the wiring. Even then, I used a wire size larger than recommended. The frames want to be interconnected, and wired to ground. The live conductors connect through disconnect switches to an inverter. The inverter is sized to the output of the panels. Where the utility allows net metering, the inverters are connected through a disconnect switch to the grid, which of course also feeds the house. Assuming you are on the grid, you will not need batteries. If outages severely impact you, you can have batteries. Counting against them is that they are costly, and use part of the power you generate, just to keep them charged. If you have batteries, it is usually best to rewire circuits so noncritical circuits are disconnected during outages. Leaving perhaps minimal lighting, fridge, freezer and critical medical circuits. Learn all you can from the Internet (try solar panels), and from the green search box above. Be sure to see if your state has a rebate program, and the conditions which it requires.
- Q: I don't remember what number exactly but it's in the single digits. This number represents how efficient solar panels are at capturing the sun's rays and converting it into electricity. Why?
- The most important thing is for how much time the sun shines at your place. If you are living at a place where the sun shines just for to 2 hours then installing a solar panel will be of no use. But if sun shines at least 9-0 hours then solar panels will be in use.
- Q: hey, i am wanting to help our earth a little bit, and I was wondering how to do a solar panel connection for powering my home.... i just want to reduce my energy bill a little bit, Would these solar panels work?and how would i connect them?
- I okorder Hope this helps.
- Q: How do solar panels impact the environment?
- Solar panels have a positive impact on the environment as they generate clean, renewable energy without emitting harmful greenhouse gases or pollutants. They help reduce reliance on fossil fuels, decrease air and water pollution, and combat climate change, making them a sustainable and environmentally friendly choice for energy production.
- Q: I want to replace my electricity with solar and wind. I live just right outside the city, the roof about 000 square feet. How many windmills/solar panels would it take to get me off the power grid?
- I live in the Southwest where the sun shines almost every day. I got a quote for Solar system to produce about enough to cover my annual usage. My annual average electrical usage costs about $2300, or about $90/MO. The system costs around $30,000 but I can get rebates and some of your tax dollars in subsidies to bring my cost down to under $20,000. I can borrow $20,000 for 3 years at 7% and pay $95/MO, so in 3 years I will have the system paid for. As you can see, I don't start Saving any money for a long time. Maybe the rates will go up in later years which will help, but My friends that have solar systems tell me things like controllers go bad over time and they cost like $3000. Will it ever pay for itself? Maybe. Please note. This still does not get me off the grid. This system will not support things like an electric stove, air conditioning, Pool pump running, etc. so I still need the grid for when these operate and my usage peaks. If I installed a system that would totally support everything 24/7 the cost would be astronomical. If you live in the east, midwest, or NW where you have cloudy days, your economic calculations will be much less favorable I would think, unless your power costs are much higher than mine..
