Q: I have a 500 watt inverter and battery but need solar panels to run my need. I want to have enough juice to run a computer and monitor and sometimes a 5w amp. I am not sure how much power is needed to run the computer (standard desktop with 5flat screen with an additional surround sound system) though on the side of the computer it says 5 amp but I know I used to run it and monitor and surround sound with a heating blanket on the same circuit which was rated at 20 amps. My question is that I would like to go and buy some panels (cheaply as I'm unemployed) from somewhere like Harbor Freight that would meet the need of the converter to supply enough amperage. So what size panel(s) or panels would I need to run this setup? If I am correct I think 500 watts is equal to 5 amps. Would this even work? Could I run a partial system where I could run some of the stuff to take a load off? I need to lower my electric bill somehow. Thanks!

Q: looking for a solar panel to charge my laptop on the road, macbook is 60 watt 6.v 3.5a, what should i be looking for in a solar panel?
Well that's a good idea,,,here's what ya need..First you need an array that will overcome the drain effect created by the in use or sleeping laptop...that is best solved by averaging out the real use of the machine in terms of watt/minutes...If you check your transformer you'll see it has a capacity which you have cited however the true use of the computer is about 40-50 percent of that in watt/minutes..but only while your using it and when in the sleep mode the watt/minute value drops even more to about 5%.... So if your actual use consists of 2 hours of use per day at 50% and 2 hours at 5% percent the actual wattage draw is only averaged out at 34watts/minute. optimally your panel should supply all your power from its photovoltaic conversion ,but in the real world application the panel only recharges ,over a period of time, the used power. So if you had a 5 watt (@ 2vdc) panel working 480 minutes and used up 35 x2=700 and 9 x2=8 for a total of 78 watts you would have 5 x 480 = 7200 watts input and a parasitic load of 78 watts in the two hours...well within the recharge state required.. For a little safety I would permanently wire a cigarette lighter type plug to the end of the panel this will keep the polarity correct and serve as a quick disconnet means...Also add a fuse at .5 amp... a good place to get these are on the internet....some are very expensive some a very cheap --go for a middle of the roader...Have a good one from the E...
Q: Can solar panels be used in areas with high pollution?
Yes, solar panels can still be used in areas with high pollution. While pollution can reduce their efficiency to some extent, solar panels can still generate electricity even in polluted areas. However, it is important to note that excessive pollution may result in a decrease in their overall performance and require more frequent maintenance to keep them clean and functioning optimally.
Q: i have a 2v 2a solar panel that i want to use to charge a 2v battery .Have found out that i need a charge controller so i don't over charge the battery.I have found a cheep one its 2v but 7a will it still work ?All-so im planing on running a 2v water pump off the battery with a timer, its for watering my garden. Will the timer have to be 2v as well ?any help on this would be greatly appreciated thanks .
The charger will accept whatever current is necessary from the solar panel up to 7A. It's not like the solar panel will force 2amps into the charger/battery -- the charger will control the current going to the battery. I question whether or not the 2V panel will actually charge the battery, though, because in order to charge a standard lead-acid 2V battery you need to have about 4.5 volts applied to the terminals. Perhaps the charger has a boost circuit -- I don't know without looking at it or knowing the brand/model number, etc. The timer must be 2VDC, but, if you only have a timer that is rated for 20VAC, you can buy a small inverter that will take 2V and supply the necessary 20VAC. An inverter rated for 20 to 50 Watts should be sufficient. These usually cost under US$25. .
Q: i have 2 questions.. I have a 6v solar panel, if i wanted to charge batteries with that it what batteries could i charge? Could charge normal AA batteries with it our do i need special batteries.2. I have a 6v solar panel that produces watt. I want to light a bulb with it but whenever i hook it up the solar panel won't light it up. I think the current of the solar panel is too low. How can i increase the current of the solar panel
[] Use it to charge 4 pieces AA cell ( connect in series to make 5V battery pack ) for 0 to 4 hours. Good for cell rated 600mAH ,2000mAH,2500mAH. [2] Cannot increase current. Buy some more this panel and hook them together in parallel to increase current. You need at least ten pieces to make current reaches .6A to light up some 6V bulbs.
Q: Can solar panels be used to power streetlights or outdoor lighting?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power streetlights or outdoor lighting. Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity, which can be stored in batteries and used to power streetlights or outdoor lighting fixtures during nighttime. This helps to reduce reliance on traditional grid-based electricity and promotes more sustainable and environmentally friendly lighting solutions.
Q: Got a small project here in a remote location. There is to be a 2 volt deep cycle battery, the equipment to be powered from battery and solar panel to charge battery. The 2 volt battery puts out 55 AH. the max constant power draw from the equipment to be powered is 7.9 watts. Will a 30 watt panel at 2 volts be enough to run this system during sunlight and charge the battery for the equipment to run overnight? And, at 55 AH, how long can I keep a constant draw of 7.9 watts without a recharge? Thanks to all the input!
o work out the wattage correctly, the panel needs to be sized according to how much power you are going to use. (Later on you're going to need a bit of info on each electrical item you need to be solar powered).
Q: How do solar panels impact the environment?
Solar panels have a positive impact on the environment as they generate clean, renewable energy without emitting harmful greenhouse gases or pollutants. They help reduce reliance on fossil fuels, decrease air and water pollution, and combat climate change, making them a sustainable and environmentally friendly choice for energy production.
Q: Can solar panels be installed in extreme temperatures?
Yes, solar panels can be installed in extreme temperatures. However, extreme temperatures can affect the efficiency and performance of solar panels. High temperatures can cause a decrease in power production, while extremely low temperatures can make the panels less efficient. To mitigate these effects, solar panels are designed to withstand a wide range of temperatures and are often equipped with temperature management systems to regulate their temperature and optimize their performance.
Q: im doin a science experiment and i have a battery that is 3.6 volts , does it matter wut voltage the solar panel that im connecting it to is . Does it need to match , be less or does voltage have no effect . If so wut does matter when choosing the type of solar panel to power a bettery?
your solar panel has to be a bit higher in voltage than your battery to achieve charging. I.E . if your battery is 3.6 volts, your solar array voltage should be like 5.v. to make the charging take place. always a bit higher than your battery,. wattage is not so important, you can charge a whole slew of batteries with a .5 watt charger, it just takes a while. higher wattage will make it charge faster, tho. v. x a. =w.
