Q:I was offered a job in the same general posistion for a YOUNG company that has offered me 15.00 more a hour, lead position, training in a differnt brand of the same product I work on and, basicly the freedom to choose my own hours (avg. 40-55 hrs). Or do I stay where I am at were I have some stabability, lead position, unstable hours (avg. 40-65 hrs plus nights away from home/family), possabilities of advancment and, a since of loyalty to bosses. Q:A new facility is having a problem with getting power supply, is it safe to run the entire facility (including AC/Ref systems) using a diesel generator? is the power quality guaranteed (considering good quality generator) since that suppliers of AC/Ref systems claimed that this facility would lose the warranty in case of using a generator. Thanks in advance.: When talking about an electric generator you have to include the quality of the driver as well as well as the control system. If the generator/driver is large enough and the controls are of sufficient quality to maintain the voltage and frequency then it doesn't matter what the power is used for.It will be more than adequate to safely supply AC units or just about any other equipment.

Q:I have a 3 phase 30k 60hz generator what would I need to do to use this to power my home ?: You need a Transfer switch, either manual $350.00 or automatic over a $1,000.00 The switch will stop the possibility of back feeding power either from the utility to the generator or from the generator to the utility.

Q:I have a van and wish to kit it out with generator, welder and power tools. The genrator needs to cope with a 180amp rated welder plus 110v power tools (grinder, drill etc) being used at the same time. The generator needs to be diesel powered not petrol. The ones i've looked at are rated in Kva's. Not too sure how to work out how many Kva's i will require. Help please.: It will probably take something like 6.6 KVA's to run it. Similar one's take a 220 VAC, 30 amp circuit. The Model 180 MIG welds up to 1/4 steel. 6 heat settings and infinitely adjustable wire speed control welds a wider range. Max. output 160 amps with 30% duty cycle. Requires 220 Volts 60 cycle 30-amp circuit.

Q:HI FROM NEW ZEALAND.I HAVE A LISTER-PETTER 16 KVA DIESEL 3 PHASE GENSET WITH SINGLE PHASE SOCKET @ 240 VAC. WITH A ITALIAN ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSTICS CONTROL PANEL WITH BREAKERS ETC.WHEN RUNNING A ESAB CADDY PROFESSIONAL 140 INVERTER WELDER @130 AMPS USING 4 MM HARDFACING RODS, ON FIRST STRIKE THE GENSET CUTS OUT AND DIE.WHEN USING A COPPER WOUND TRANFORMER WELDER THE THING RUNS WELL BUT WILL NOT STOP WHEN I HIT THE KEY TO TURN OFF OR EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON.NOTE; THIS IS A STANDBY GENSET IN THAT I JUST PLUGGED IN A WELDER, THE GENSET IS NOT A DEDICATED WELDING GENERATOR.I USED OTHER DIESEL GENSETS PRIOR WITHOUT ANY PROBS.WILL ANY1 HAVE ANY CLUES? REGARDING THIS.THANKS IN ADVANCE.CHEERS CARL GIN: Does the Esab welder have high frequency? If so the high freq. is feeding back into the generator and frying the electronics. You may need to have the generators repaired. The only way to prevent damage is to turn the high freq. off, or drive an earth ground as close to the welder as possible and you have to run a wire to your grounding clamp to this ground and the machine ground needs to go to this also. You have to get the high freq. out of the circuit as quick as possible. (I have a Hobart Champion Fabshop that is notorious for this.)

Diesel-electric tries to combine the advantages of a (diesel) combustion engine with those of an electric engine. You get the low RPM torque of an electric engine without the need for a gearbox and the range of a diesel without the need for a lot of heavy batteries. In addition, you can run the diesel continously with good efficiency. Disadvantage: you have to carry both the diesel and the electric parts around. For large installations, this can make sense since you save the weight of the gearbox.
