i ve worked on a 440kw engine as a general rule the exhaust temperatures are never let to go in excess of 400 degrees. normal exhaust temperature at 300 kw was 350 deg celsius.

Check the facts on bio diesel. It is very close to the original fuel Diesel used to run his engine. People think diesel is bad for the environment, but the facts are that it is a cleaner fuel than gas with the exceptions of the particle emissions, ie soot. Diesel is the scum fuel or the first processing of crude oil to usable oil. There are many diesel electric cars in Europe, which has tougher standards for most countries that in the US. It boils down to political. Big oil does not want you using a cheaper fuel so they can continue to make massive profits. Bio on a train would be very useful, as well as bio for most of the big rigs. Better fuel economy, power, and emissions. But that means planting more for fuel than food, and that also is political as we sell to and feed most of the 3rd world. Sorry its a big political sham, that's why I am going bio this year and converting waste vegi oil.

Q:Can any anyone help me with this. The generator is a brushless, air-cooled diesel generator without AVR. It is kinda old and it's made from Japan. The manufacturer is Yanmar.
All you need is a transformer to boost the low AC voltage up to 110 or 120 volts (for USA and Canada) or 220-240 for other countries. You need to know what voltage and current the generator does produce, and if it isn't specified on a plate on the generator, you will need a multimeter. You could probably get an inexpensive one at a hardware store. Then you need to hunt for a suitable transformer. It not only has to have the right input and output voltage ratings, but also the current rating that the generator can put out. Keep in mind that V1xA1 V2xA2. So, for example, if the generator puts out 60 volts at 10 amps, you would get 120 volts at 5 amps with a 1:2 coil ratio. Both input and output coils have to be rated for at least the amps in the equation, but the rating can be higher.

Q:I want to know if someone put gasoline instead of diesel in my generator. I'm use to seeing dark yellow fuel in it and now the muffler is red hot
I think you maybe right. The Muffler should not be that hot. Don`t chace futher damage, drain the tank and start over. Diesel cools and lubes the engine and Gas will destroy a diesel engine quick.

The oil will oxidize and be contaminated with dirt and carbon left over from diesel combustion. The engine oil will start to break down immediately after it is first heated when the engine starts. All paper type fuel, oil, and coolant filters should be changed at 100 hours operating time or once per year, whichever comes first. I record the date and operating hours on the filters with black marker at each change. This makes it easy to determine when the next change is required. Check the coolant conductivity as well as its boiling and freezing temperatures. Change it if either reading is unacceptable.
Q:I have put together a 4 cylinder peugeot diesel and an 8 kw alternator.At first it was direct coupled to run at 1500 rpm but didn't have enough grunt when i struck an arc with my mig welder. I then put in a lay shaft the engine runs at 2275rpm alternator at 1500rpm. same problem engine allmost stalls under heavy load. At this speed the engine is producing max torque 70 lb ft the alt should only need 33 lb ft. pls help
The alt is what RPM you will set the engine atMost 120-240 volt are 50 HRX and run at 1800or 3600 so if it's the 3600 back end your using the wrong engineUnless you use a pulley and belt to get the correct RPMMY 8K Diesel marine ONAN direct drive 3cyc runs at 1800 Rpm If your over loading the genset than no engine will workwhat is the load your pulling as 8K is 80 amps Max single 240V or 40 amp double 120V
Q:here's the thing.Imagine that I have a generator that uses diesel as the fuel. then consider following two cases.Case 1 - using one 1kW bulb for one hourCase 2 - using ten 100W bulbs for one hourI know both cases consume a same amount of power that is 1kWH.but I THINK the demand (which is measured in kVA or just kW) is higher in the second case. (is it??)so my question is that, does the generator burn a same amount of fuel at both the cases regardless of higher demand in second case?? and I'd much obliged if you can say how??
