Q:Is it better to do the overhead press exercise with individual dumbbells or with a straight bar? What's the difference? Please provide a link if possible, thanx. I give every answer a 'thumbs-up' rating.
i would say straight bar for military press(Standing). i do a sitting military press or shoulder press with dumbbells.
Q:I had to press 5 different types of leaves from my yard for part of my science project. I put newspaper, then the leaves, then a little more newspaper, then my english textbook, a dictionary, and a gallon of water. I let it sit for a week. My results:Australian bottle tree, Australian willow, kumquat bush, and lemon tree leaves worked perfectly.But... the ficus leaf (still got flattened and everything) is BROWN!What happened?I need to know ASAP so I know if I should try the ficus again or do a different type of leaf. I only have time for one more round of pressing before the project is due! Thanks :)
Ficus plants are always a problem when pressing. The main reason is that they have latex in their tissues and many of them have relatively thick leaves. Not only do they turn brown (or even black) but the leaves usually drop off the stems. There are a few ways to make good Ficus specimens but the ones I've heard of require alcohol (enough to dip the plants in) and you'd need to be able to apply dry heat to your press for a few days at least. So, if you don't HAVE to have a Ficus, use something else (weed from your lawn would be easiest).
Q:How can you obtain press pass if you want to jump from amateur photography to professional, and what about the sports events like games of NBA, NHL, NFL etc.
Try putting a little sign in your hat that says Press. It works in the movies! Hey Jenna.... your Legal Briefs are on too tight.... this is a joke answer!
Q:I wanted to try flower pressing for an art project and after pressing for two weeks, most of them turned out great. Some of the thicker, bigger flowers are still damp though so I was wondering if there's a quick way to dry them out?
bolow dryer.
Q:Should the Press not report and not ask questions?
Mr Romney has been unfairly maligned just because he only released 1/2 of one selected years tax returns, has made it clear that he will not answer questions unless his advisors see the question first, has TWO off-shore accounts, while his wife Ann has SEVEN off-shore accounts, down from the 138 off-shore accounts Bain used to avoid taxes, uses Executive priviledge to avoid talking about Bain, can't count on Mass. to vote for him, was involved in Olympic corruption and refused to take responsibility or talk about it, is guilty of a felony by misrepresenting his residency in his run for Gov of Mass. shoved food into his kids faces and humiliated them, set up phony charities to take a MASSIVE one time tax deduction with NO TAXES paid on $millions$ of dollars profit on Dominos Pizza Stock, while the only Good Works the charity does is funnel 5% to his Church (if that is what it is) and the charity pays his family members expenses and salary to run it...... .....actually, when I look at him.......he is an abusive scum bag.......
Q:While at home today, I pressed my laptop screen. A small rippled area came around my finger where I pressed it. Why did this happen?
When you press on an LCD panel (liquid crystal display), you are flexing the panel, which distorts the liquid crystals, which in turn changes the way the light from the backlights behaves - the ripple effect on the screen. If you drop a stone into a pond, it produces ripples spreading out from where the stone hit the water - similar principle. Don't press hard on an LCD screen - the glass is very thin and breaks easily.
Q:I'm new at pressing my mac pigments. I recently bought a bunch of mac pigment samples. I have two of each color with eaxactly 1/4 tsp in each. I read that your supposed to press with 3/4. Is it okay to press with less than 3/4?
Hi! Yes, definitely. You don't have to have exactly 3/4 tsps for it to work. 3/4 tsp might be the measurement needed to fill an eyeshadow pan, if that's where you're pressing your pigments. But then again, it's up to you if you want to fill the pan or not. You don't actually have to be very scientific about pressing pigments. Basically, keep dropping a few drops of 91% alcohol, mix it, and once it gets to the point that it's the the mixture holds/clumps together (you don't want it to be runny, and you'd know if it's still dry). If you put too much alcohol, you shouldn't worry b/c it dries up anyway. It just makes it hard to shape and press it. That's why the key is to put a few drops of alcohol at a time. There's really no exacty # of drops to # of teaspoons of pigments. I've pressed a LOT of pigments myself, and I don't even measure how much I use. Just be sure that after pressing it (press it firmly!), leave it open to air dry :)
