Q:I have gurgling noise in my bathroom sink. I have snaked up through the vent pipe-through the bathroom sink (and that will stop the gurgling for a few months but then it comes back). I don't beleive the snake goes all the way to the roof (but I'm sure it's close). Any suggestions?Should I buy an extra extra long snake, and snake the pipe all the way to the roof?Should I climb on the roof and put a garden hose in the vent pipe and turn the water on?; if so what risks/problems should I be mindful of before putting water down the vent pipe via a garden hose?Thanks: Sounds like a vent problem. Flushing with a garden hose will not cause any problems since the roof vent is merely an extension of the main waste pipe. If you live in an area where freezing occurs, do not put a flat screen over the vent pipe. Condensation will occur and the moisture will freeze and form a seal over the pipe, blocking it.

Q:Does anyone else have this problem? My bathroom sink smells pretty bad...what can I do to make the smell go away? I clean it regularly but I think the smell is in the piping or something. Please help: It could be bacteria growing in the pipes, try dumping some bleach down the drain. I have to do that with our sinks every now and that seems to work for me. Q:So I live in an appartment, the upstairs of a house. Everytime I go to brush my teeth all I can smell is POO! I know this is disgusting and I don't know what to do about it???: If you live in the UK then bathrooms usually have water supplied by a tank hot from the tank in your airing cupboard which is mains fed, cold is usually supplied by a tank some times in the loft which can become contaminated although this is mains fed there is a loose lid which could become dislodged I have heard of dead birds in cold water tanks. Worst case scenario is that your tank has been contaminated on purpose. Speak to your management company or health department and explain the problem, in the meantime use bottled water to brush your teeth and ask other residents if they have a similar problem
