Q:my old sink had a over flow hole in it and the new sink does not.can i still use the same drain pipe or is there a different type that i need to get?: Assuming you mean the pop up drain (chrome), I suggest you dry fit the old one into the new sink. Often, the pop ups for internal overflow sinks have a large opening allowing water from the overflow into them. It may not seal on the new sink depending on the thickness of the new sink. If it doesn't seal, not the end of the world. Visit a good local plumbing supply store and ask for a pop up drain for a sink with no overflow.

Q:I have gurgling noise in my bathroom sink. I have snaked up through the vent pipe-through the bathroom sink (and that will stop the gurgling for a few months but then it comes back). I don't beleive the snake goes all the way to the roof (but I'm sure it's close). Flushing with a garden hose will not cause any problems since the roof vent is merely an extension of the main waste pipe. If you live in an area where freezing occurs, do not put a flat screen over the vent pipe. Condensation will occur and the moisture will freeze and form a seal over the pipe, blocking it.

Q:how do you fix a hole and crack in a Porcelain bathroom sink?: I wouldnt recommend fixing a porcelain sink as there may be further hidden damages you cant detect. Thats why toilets are always replaced when a crack appears. Considering people usually exert some force on sinks and the constant temperature fluctuations from water, hidden damage may suddenly cause the sink to further crack or face a catastrophic failure (shatters or falls apart causing property or personal damage). Porcelain sinks are pretty affordable these days and would be worthwhile for you to invest in a new one to reduce your risk. Please note if you do change the sink, you will need to replace or transfer the taps to the new model, a new strainer/PO and potentially some minor changes in your drainage.

Worst case scenario is that your tank has been contaminated on purpose. Speak to your management company or health department and explain the problem, in the meantime use bottled water to brush your teeth and ask other residents if they have a similar problem
