Q:How much V headlight voltage is best?: General 12v cart 24v

Q:Today my engine started making a hum - it sounds like one of the belts. Shortly after the check engine light came on. I ran a check and it says system running lean. I checked the gas cap and it was hardly on. I reset the system so the light is now off - it has not come back on. The sound from the engine continues. Do you think the sound from what presumably could be a belt and the system running lean code are related or coincidences? I have a 2006 Volvo S40.: well no since the code has not come up again.

Q:My ABS light is on constantly and the emergency brake light comes on every so often but does not stay on constantly. I scanned the code at Advanced Auto which came up as C1276 left front release valve solenoid malfunction. Does anyone have any clue what may be causing this? Thanks!: I doubt any Advance Auto store has a clue when it comes to the ABS brake system. They all just have OBD II code readers where I live. If they do have a $2,500 scan tool where you live that code means you need to replace the ABS control unit that has the pump and solenoids in it. Probably a $1200 repair. I'd go to the dealer first before going any farther. At least you'll have a real mechanic diagnose it instead of a sales clerk!! By the way it is not dangerous, you'll just need to pump the brakes to slow down if skidding in the snow since the ABS brakes don't work.

Q:how would we be able to change our transportation system? could we possibly go to a model like walt disney?: That's strictly a toy, I'm afraid, however attractive. Auto-steering cars will come eventually but for safety reasons, not so much for economy or congestion ones. 100 dead a day on American roads. A twin towers casualty list each and every month. But for transportation improvement, the attack will have to come on several fronts: More people working from home: internet/ VR More people working closer to where they live / living closer to where they work. Residential areas patchworked with business and industrial ones. Cleaner and more efficient transport: rapid transit light rail systems as well as cars getting 50+ miles to the gallon. (I've got one in mind, when my old car packs up. over 50 mpg out of town, 40 in town, and it's not a diesel or a hybrid.)

Q:Went and got a stereo installed everything worked fine b4 now my clock dome light and trunk lights do not work I drove my car to my mechanic and they checked my fuses they are fine they said to go back and ask the people who installed my stereo system if they would pay for iti paid $430 for this system and all it was, was a new cd/mp3 player and sub/ampi already had to go back because the sub they gave me had a patchthey replaced it .btw when they were done with it my SRS light was on i sat and waited 2 hours for them to finally turn it off and i waited for them to try and fix the clock for them to tell me its probably not even worth fixing after i told them it worked before I‘m pretty angryso my question is am I stuck with the bill or should I ask them to help pay it or all?: Take it back and tell them, don't ask, tell them, to fix your clock, dome light and trunk light. If they can't or won't, tell them to remove the stereo they installed, put everything back like it was, and refund your $430. If they refuse to do that, go speak to an attorney about it and let the attorney speak for you with those people.

Q:The car left the house fine, with no indicator lights. After I got back in after leaving the bank, both the Brake and Battery light came on. I parked it back at the house and the fluid level is fine, the oil level is fine, and the belts are intact (as far as I can tell). I went back later to start the car and it sounded like it turned over, although it apparently did not as the RPMs were 0, it was super quiet, and when put into gear, it would not budge or rev. The brake jammed up too but I was able to get it back in park. then the check engine and oil pressure lights came on! The air was blowing hot and the radio was still playing. I turned it back off and it revved and the air was cool again, although the original two lights were still one (the others turned off). I didn‘t put it into gear so I can‘t speak on it this time around. The car has had a recent alternator and battery change (last year) and a wreck sometime long ago, before my dad got it.WHAT IS UP?: Multiable warning lights sounds like another alternator issue. Better have the charging system and battery tested. If you can hook up a battery charger and a auto parts store is near by drive it over or call dad to check to test and replace the alternator. Q:a Ford mechanic said that i could have ran into a lightning burst near my car and it affected my electrical system. by the way, i am changing my alarm system since then. is this possible? does it also affect my HID headlights?: Purchase a relay harness and make sure you have AC ballasts and not DC ballasts. If you have DC ballasts it could cause your HID lights to malfunction. Purchase some AC ballasts online. Should fix your problem.

Q:The service engine light on my 2006 Nissain recently came on. We took it to our trusted mechanic and he was puzzled as to why it came on (the code was for a transmission problem that is very rare, especially on a car with less than 30,000 miles). He reset it, and told us that if it comes back, to take it to the dealership as it may be covered by the warranty. It came back so we went to the nissain dealership. It was $120 to check out the problem. They told us that nothing was wrong, and reprogrammed the service engine light. I repeatedly asked WHY the light came on. The dealership thought I should be happy that nothing was wrong with the car. To me, having a light randomnly pop off that requires a $120 fix is a complete and utter scam. If it‘s scheduled maintanence, then they should explain that.instead of simply charging me money and telling me I should be happy. Are these lights scams?: 2 possibility can happen, 1 is you got a faulty sensor or sensor acting up. When your trusted mechanic fixed it trouble return. Then dealership mechanic need to reprogram to correct problem, so is the sensor only. They charge you $120 for this job, and told you should be happy, this is the reason why. Your warranty is over, if not the $120 will be waived anyway, a transmission job will cost few thousands without warranty cover.

The dealer wants $130 just to find where the problem is and then repair is extra on top of that.: I doubt that the OBD II scanners at Auto Zone are capable of reading codes for the SRS AirBag system. You need a Nissan dealers Consult II scanner to diagnose that system. Wiring diagrams are no help, SRS problems are usually air bags with intermittent open circuits or the steering wheel clock spring. Don't use a VOM on the SRS system or you will set off the air bags and end up with $2,000 or more in replacement costs.
