Q:I was amazon shopping for new bike rims and i came across one review that said it weighed 3lbs (being pretty heavy). I live in a place with a lot of hills and I read that wheel weight contributes to acceleration uphills. Q:Ok I know that longboard wheels go up to about 76mm the smallest are somewhere around 60mm. But does it really matter what size you get for your board???: Larger wheels are more mass, thus will roll over objects easier. Larger wheels also have more mass, thus will hold speed longer and will have a higher max speed. Larger wheels can also cause wheelbite (the wheel hits the board and stops), which maybe cause you to fly off the board if your board was not designed to fit large wheels. Smaller wheels will accelerate faster, but may not be able to roll over as many objects. Smaller wheels have less mass so they will not hold our their speed as long. Smaller wheels will be able to fit on more boards without getting wheelbite though.

Q:What is a strong bmx wheel (front wheel) thats not a peice of **** and wont break easily. i have a DK siklon 2010. i dont want to buy a 300 $ wheel that is probably shittier than regular i just need a strong wheel: i raced bmx for over 25 years the last set of wheels i had built where sun bfr with stainless spokes and suzee hubs, never tweaked these rims they are tough. Q:Wheel Spacers.SAFE OR NOT?I have an Infiniti g35 coupe with Brembo brakes.Just bought new rims and the Brakes calipers are coming in the way.Someone told me about spacers, specifically 20mm bolt on ones.My question: ARE THEY SAFE?: Sure, wheel spacers are safe, if you take the wheels off once a week and re-tighten them. If you don't re-tighten them once a week you will die! They also wear out wheel bearings/hubs 5 times faster then with out them. So now that you purchased some after market POS wheels that will probably never balance out you want to F-up the wheel bearings. What's next? Ruining the ride with lowering kits that will only chew up tires and make the car ride like a tank?

Q:My front wheel has gone out of “true” or maybe I should say was bent about three times. Each time was due to a pot hole in the road or a bump I did not get over correctly but never where I could not continue to ride on it. I went to the bike store and they did fix it but said that if it happens again it might be a good idea to get a new wheel because of something called a “hop” in the wheel. Is this true? Should I replace the wheel if it goes out once more? Or are there just so many times a wheel can be readjusted before it has to be replaced?: The hop in the wheel is a reference to the wheel being out of round. If the wheel is of decent quality and not damaged beyond repair, a competent shop or wheelbuilder should be able to give it a good radial truing. The fact that your wheel has gone out of true several times leads me to believe that the wheels were machine built (possibly of low quality) and the tension in the spokes is all over the place. Any Bozo can laterally true a wheel, which may be what your shop did. It might be worth having the wheel properly trued (both laterally and radially) and all of the spokes retensioned. This full fix, if done to a quality wheel, isn't super cheap but should almost eliminate further issues,,,if the bike is ridden with reasonable care. If you have doubts about your shop's work, go elsewhere. Or at least ask them why they can't do a radial truing to eliminate the hop.
