- Add 1/2 cup of bleach for unbleachables to your carpet detergent. Add fleecy to the rinse water, it helps repel dirt. The bleach adds a boost to the detergent. If you don't want to pay as much for the detergent, ammonia (non-sudsy) works pretty good. If you are buying a shampooer the bissel canister is the one that was recommended to me. I find it pretty good.

I slopped latex paint on my carpet. After it dried, I took thin shears and got just behind the dried paint and cut it away. Although nail polish is not a latex, I still think this is the best way to go. If you must try to use remover, try to get the dry polish off as much as you can first. Then with the remover, stay limited to just the area of the spill, so as not to spread it.

- I would buy one of those non slip backers so your nice hardwood floors wont get scratched.

- You mark and cut the rug from the backside. Use a razor-knifem or drywall knife which is razor sharp. It won't fray if the rug is fitted tight against the wall. You can just cut it and leave it or you can put a glue on it like carpenters white glue and let it dry out. It dries clear. Make sure all your cuts are complete, including the pink carpet material.
