Q:The bike was running fine last night, I checked the kill switch, and no noticable damage to any wires. I press the start button and nothing happens as if the kill switch is on the off position. It‘s probably simple but Im stumped.
My bike also has a switch in the the clutch lever, if its not activating then the bike wont start. Sounds to me like a grounded kill switch though.
Q:I just bought new brake pads for my front disc brakes. The pads are made for my bike. 1985 GS450L. I also replaced the back brakes which are fine. I pushed the piston back in as much as i could. unscrewed the top where you put the brake fluid in so the piston could get back in. I put my new pads on, and the piston is all the way back inside. I can not spin the wheel freely without it stopping right away. And when riding all the brake does is squeal and squeak. Is there a way to loosen these pads anymore?
check the return port in the master cylinder for clogging. When you look into the reservoir you will see 2 holes at the bottom. The smaller is the return port. You may be able to clear it with a bit of copper wire.
Q:how does disc brake works for motorcycles?
hard thing. look using a search engine. this can help!
Q:do custom built motorcycles in ohio require front brakes?
It does not seem so. This is what I found: (2) Every motorcycle, when operated upon a highway shall be equipped with at least one adequate brake, which may be operated by hand or by foot. This is the source: codes.ohio /orc/4513.20 It was found by following a link from: bmv.ohio / The question was does he need a front brake, I have thumbed down every answer of opinion that didn't answer the question.
Q:Hi guysI have a 1983 honda xl 185 and i am DESPERATELY trying to get it street legal, here is the list of issues/info-new battery and new signal relay-horn only beeps loudly when engine is revving ??-taillight dims when the turn signals are on (opposite to when the signals flash)-when applying either brake the turn signal (that is on) goes solid and the relay stops ticking-after messing around with it turning the flashers on etc for about 30 minutes (without motor running) the turn signals barely light up but the taillight stays on fairly strong - bad battery?-when revving all the lights are much brighterAny idea as to what is happening, i am going to check all grounds but am having trouble locating the frame grounds, any help is appreciated!
I'd say test your Voltage Regulator/Rectifier. It sends 12v exactly to your bikes components. Sounds like your stator/alternator is working great and is sending that extra 1v to the regulator and batt to recharge. But, that 1v is also goin to your lights etc. I think a new regulator will help a lot of your bikes symptoms. Don't get a used one. Sometimes that's the reason people part out their bikes in the first place. Hope it helps.
Q:i haven‘t been able to get the front brake working right. The caliper won‘t release all the way which causes the brake to drag. So far I have put a new caliper on and changed the brake fluid and bleed it but that still didn‘t solve the problem. If you could give me any input at all I would really appreciate it.
If a brand new caliper didn’t solve it then the problem is more than likely with the disc or the mounting on the fork legs. Seems an expensive way of going about it though, a full strip and service of the old caliper, replacing the o-rings, bleed nipple and a thorough flush with new clean brake fluid would probably give the same result as a new one.
Q:im going to get a motorcycle in like 6-7 months but i want to learn all about them first, it will be a yamaha r6about the shifting i know that like down is first half up is N and up is 2nd and so on...what abiout braking though? clutch then brake but do i downshift at all while doing this or just downshift when stopped or what?also when do you downshift?
Firstly... If you have very little idea on how to ride a bike.. You shouldn't even be riding a 600cc Motorcycle.. Its one sure way to crash it and waste all that money you spent to buy it... Let alone cause injury to yourself Motorcycles for beginners should be 250cc or less! But to answer your question.. Whilst braking yes you may downshift while slowing down.. that way you can be in the correct gear when your ready to go again.. You may also downshift whilst stopped its no problem.. But Id say shifting while moving is better.. That way your the gears inside your gearbox are rotating as this makes it easier for the gears to 'engage' With regard to the clutch.. Depends how much you need to slow down... If you only need to slow down a little bit then no need to pull in the clutch... If you need to slow down a great deal and you can feel the engine 'struggling' then its time to definitely pull the clutch in and drop it down a gear if available.. Or if you need to stop for traffic or a red light.. you may as well pull it in because your going to stop anyway.. If you drive a manual car... riding a motorcycle is not much different... You will be able to understand the concept of braking, throttle clutch and gears much eaiser..
Q:its a used 2004 Kawasaki ninja 250 and it looks like its in great shape. i have heard that is a great starter bike and the only reason i am buying it is to go to school and back. my wife takes the car to work so i need something cheap that will only take me to school. i am 20 years old. in Texas its required to take the class before getting your motorcycle license so im going to take it soon. can yall give me advice on the easiest and best ways to get better? i have very little experience. i am going to avoid highways for awhile till i get some experience.
Learning to ride a motorcycle is not that hard. The training course doesn't teach you to ride, you learn to ride by riding. The course teaches you some important safety habits to keep you safe while you learn on your own. Basically you want to ride around a quiet residential neighborhood (or uncrowded country lanes) until you have all the controls 'memorized'. So you don't have to take a second or two to think 'Hmm, now which of these doodads is the brake?' The slower you go, the more time you have to make decisions and react to situations, so keep it down around 20 mph at first, like 2nd gear. Have the controls 'automatic' before you venture out into traffic. Actually the highway is not as dangerous as you might think. Everyone's going in the same direction at about the same speed, each in his own lane (most of the time). Nobody is backing out of driveways without looking or trying to exit from the center lane. Accidents at a higher speed have more serious consequences, of course, but they are less likely than on city streets.
Q:Want to buy a motorcycle, do not know how to see? What is the main configuration? That is what kind of configuration performance is good, in detail
Need the highest configuration, I personally think that in the motorcycle industry which is not the standard. The key to see how the manufacturers match, matching a good product fuel consumption relative to the end of some.
Q:Why is the motorcycle brake stuck?
This phenomenon occurred in the drum brake system ... ... the other should not have such a situation ... ... brake shoes have been useless ... ... for the brake assembly can be resolved ... ...
