Q:Im looking to wire the rear of my backpack with a few RGB Led's to turn on when braking on my motorcycle, or even flash when taking a turn. I have already bought an Adafruit FLORA to run this project, but I need a way to wirelessly activate these led's using the circuitry in my bike. I was thinking about using some sort of radio transmitter and receiver to turn on when the lights turn on / flash , etc. but im really not familiar with what I would need or the circuitry. Adafruit has done a similar project but it is all controlled by a remot control which I want to bypass completely. (assuming you are familiar with the products) Would it be possible to buy such a remote and wire is some sort of transistor to activate it using the 12V supply on the bike? Any suggestions are appreciated
hello 1-the leds are not far to use remote system 2-on driving you can not use a remote with your hand.. 3- working an strange light dance may distract back vehicles... if you are interested in adding some devices on your motorcycle... you may add RPM meter....Tank guage....motor temperature... good luck
Q:I‘m 29 and want to buy my 1st motorcycle I don‘t like Harley davidson or ninjas
I have a couple of suggestions. You can look at dual sport or standard motorcycles. Couple of examples Kawasaki KLR 650. Single cylinder dual sport that has been around for a couple of decades. Easy to ride, easy to maintain, after-market parts readily available, cheap to buy, cheap to insure, and a huge following. There have been several riders that have chosen the KLR to ride around the world. Lots of information on the Adventure Rider website/forum. Suzuki DL-650 V-Strom with ABS brakes. Twin cylinder standard that again is easy to ride due to a more upright seating and handlebar position. Gets your head up in the air to better evaluate the ever changing traffic and road conditions. This bike is equipped with a windshield and hard bags and trunk are available from the factory or from the after-market world. Note regarding windshield. The V-Stroms suffer from wind turbulence on the rider. Madstad brackets are available to help move the windshield to better route the wind and surprisingly different mirrors will have a huge impact on reducing turbulence. There are other standard bikes that are good for the beginner. One advantage that will help you is at least 12 years of driving experience. You understand what it takes to avoid all the brain dead and distracted drivers on the road these days. Lastly, sign up for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Beginning Rider Course. Course will help introduce you to motorcycle riding and getting your motorcycle endorsement for your driver's license. Good Luck
Q:having problem bleeding back brakes on my motorcycle
Fill reservoir Crack torque on caliper fitting with socket. (Just enough so you don't strip it with wrench.) Using wrench ensure fitting is closed (not tightened to torque spec.) Install drainage tube. Pump brake lever multiple times and hold Crack open bleeder. Allow air bubbles out and old fluid to drain. Close fitting Repeat last 3 until brake lever has desired feel. Sometimes I'll crack open the bleeder and just let it sit for a while. Hour or so. Pump the pedal a couple time during that period. Other times I'll crack the torque on the banjo bolt, as air might be trapped there. Tap on the pots and brake lines with the wrench to help dislodges bubbles. Maybe bleed it a little, just enough, then take it for a short spin. Get's everything hot and flowing. Rebleed. Reride. Rebleed. (Over the course of a week or something like that.) There's always the vac-u-jack at Harbour Freight, too. Mity Mite?
Q:I‘m wanting to find a old worn out motorcycle from a junk yard or something and fix up. Save my money up and buy new parts for it. I don‘t really know a lot about motorcycles, but I figured I could buy some books and learn. I‘m 16 and I figured it would be fun and new.
i am also 16 but i rebuilt a truck not a motorcycle, i think its a great project, go for it!!! Its tons of fun
Q:Can you get a special motorcycle street license for motorcycles 100ccs and under?
Ah You are in West Palm Beach, Florida. This is good. What age? Whatever. Law, from the State of Florida -- www.flhsmv /dmv/bulletins/200. Definitions: 320.01(27) Motorcycle means: any motor vehicle having a seat or saddle for the use of the rider and designed to travel on not more than three wheels in contact with the ground, but excluding a tractor or a moped. 320.01(28) Moped means … motor rated not in excess of 2 brake horsepower and not capable of propelling the vehicle at a speed greater than 30 miles per hour . not exceed 50 cubic centimeters. Anything over 50cc, or can go over 30 mph, requires the same motorcycle license as any other motorcycle. A moped requires any class of driver's license to be legal on the streets. If you do not have a driver's license, the most you can get is an E-Bike, a bicycle with pedals for human power, with an electric motor that can not do more than 20 mph. BUT only if you are 16 years of age or older. *AND* you will be required to prove you are 16 or older or a cop will impound your bike.
Q:I will be taking my motorcycle permit test tomorrow, just wondering what is expected and if i do fail the permit.
There is only one motorcycle permit/license. It authorizes you to ride any kind of 2-wheeled vehicle over 50cc. The written test for a M/C license, I have taken it, and it is more about safety and defensive riding, unlike the car test which is more about rules of the road. I actually flunked it last time because I wasn't expecting that kind of questions (then the lady looked at my record on the computer and said You don't have to take the test! You're a good driver!). So I hope you have looked at the booklet. The riding test I have not taken (I've had my license for a long time). It's supposed to be pretty hard. You have to ride around a circle between two lines without touching the lines or putting your feet down. It's easier on a smaller bike. But if you take the MSF beginner's course you don't have to take the riding test, and that's another good reason to take the course. Good luck! I hope you get it!
Q:when we are about to start and run a motorcycle should we start it by our both feet on the ground with front brake holding or just with left leg on the ground with the right foot on the rear brake??
I'm not saying James is wrong, but I beg to differ. The bigger and heavier the bike is or when you have a passenger, the more you need to keep both feet planted solidly on the ground. Use a couple of fingers on the brake lever to keep it from rolling. If you're setting there with your right foot on the brake and your passenger suddenly leans to the right (such as turning around to see what's behind you), you can lose your balance and you, the bike and your passenger end up on the ground.
Q:I want to ride a motorcycle. money is not a problem. the bike i want is a streetbike. my mother is aware that i am responsible, but she is just afraid that i will get hurt. I am aware of all of the consequences of driving a streetbike. I know that insurance will be a pain in the *** and i am ok with that. where i live you have to be 16 with a drivers license and parents permision to get a motorcycle license. or else you must be 18 without permission. Please help.
