Q:I‘ve been looking into getting one. I also looked up the rules for scooters/mopeds in Florida, but it was a little confusing and I think the scooter I want surpassed some of the maximum requirements for being classified as a scooter/moped.
Information, from the State of Florida: www.flhsmv /dmv/bulletins/2003. A Honda Metropolitan is NOT a 316.003(77) Moped . not in excess of 2 brake horsepower and not capable of grater (sic) than 30 miles per hour on level ground. A Honda Metropolitan IS a 316.003(22) Motorcycle . a seat or saddle for the use of the rider. not more than three wheels. excluding a tractor or a moped. Hence, a Honda Metropolitan titled and registered as a motorcycle. However, Definitions for Driver Licenses: 322.01(25) Motorcycle means a motor vehicle powered by a motor with a displacement of more than 50 cubic centimeters. Hence, while you do need a driver's license, you do not need a motorcycle driver's license. The Honda CHF50 Metropolitan is a motorcycle capable of 40 mph. The Honda CHF50P Metropolitan-II is a moped not capable of over 30 mph.
Q:A motorcycle is moving at 30 m/s when the rider applies the brakes, giving the motorcycle a constant deceleration. During the 3.0 s interval immediately after braking begins, the speed decreases to 15 m/s. What distance does the motorcycle travel from the instant braking begins until the motorcycle stops?
The motorcycle takes three seconds to decelerate to half speed. Its deceleration is constant, So it should take 6 seconds to stop. The Deceleration is a change of 30 m/s in 6s, so 30/6 5 m/s/s. Because it is decelerating, the acceleration is -5m/s/s. Use the motion formula S(U*T)+(0.5*A*T^2) (S Equals U times T Plus Half Times A Times T Squared) Where: S Distance Traveled (The answer we're looking for) U Original Velocity (30m/s) T Time (6s) A Acceleration (-5m/s/s) Put in values and solve: SUT+0.5AT^2 S(30*6)+(0.5*-5*6^2) S180+(-2.5*36) S180+-90 S180-90 S90 Meters The Answer is 90 Meters
Q:What is the most common problem you can incur when braking a motorcycle?
Front wheel locking up , throwing the bike in a front slide. Too much brake on the rear throwing it sideways. 70% front, 30% rear. Take a certified MC Riders course for correct ways to handle a bike
Q:I have an 09 Hyosung GT-250R. I was riding to school one day and my brakes locked up. I'm not sure if it's my front or rear brake, but I cant seem to roll my bike when its in Neutral or when it's in gear with the clutch engaged. What's even more annoying is that at the time, my battery had decided to get a dead cell and killed my bike. I don't know if these two things are related. I've since replaced my battery and my bike will run, but the brakes will still lock. HELP??!Hopefully, it's something i can replace on my own because I'm a broke college student -_-
when it's in gear with the clutch engaged - this is normal I'm not sure if it's my front or rear brake - if your bike doesn't have a center stand put it up on a milk crate to find out if the prob is frt or r brake. result? U don't mention any noises before this happened, but I'd suspect something became loose or broken/worn and is binding.
Q:I‘m about to learn how to ride a motorcycle so I can get my motorcycle license in the spring. Any tips for a nervous 19 year old???
Some good advice so far. Be sure you can sit on the bike with both feet flat on the ground. I only mention this 'cos you're a girl and they tend to be shorter. But on the other hand girls are much safer so that's good. If you can ride a bicycle and drive a car with a clutch, it will be easy to learn to ride a motorcycle. If you haven't dealt with clutches and gearshifts, you will have to learn that. Don't worry, you can do it. Ride around a quiet neighborhood first, ride slow, like 20-25 mph. Get the feel of the controls, and sort out the controls in your mind, so you don't have to think fast 'Which one of these is the brake? Which one is the headlights?' That has to be automatic. Once you think you have it, then venture out into traffic. Ride slower than you think you need to. This gives you more time to react. I think this is one place where girls are safer than boys, boys just wanna go fast. Finally, as others have pointed out, the most dangerous thing for bikers, by far, is the idiots in the cars. They don't see you. They'll pull into your lane, back out of driveways in front of you, they'll make left turns right in front of you. So you learn to be paranoid. Someone sitting in a driveway up ahead? EXPECT him to pull out at the worst moment. Don't drive beside a car on the freeway for long periods of time, stay out of his blind spot. Be aware of what's going on around you. Motorcycling is a lot of fun! I'm sure you'll have a blast. Congratulations, and good luck.
Q:What are things you can do about motorcycle disc brake pads scrubbing the disc?
brake pads ride the brake disc. So, they are designed to 'scrub' it. If you got oil in the pads, then replace the pads and wipe down the disc with a good degreaser before putting the new pads on. Acetone works pretty well, just keep it off paint and your skin. It they are just packed with road grime or dirt, just wash the bike and pay particular attention to the brake area.
Q:i needs to know who invented the first hydraulic brake for a motorcycle and in what year ? please help me i have searched all over the net!!!! thanks diana
the answer is both UNLESS your stopping in a hurry. in an emergency stop the front brake is 100% of your stopping power which is why newer bikes can stand on the front wheel great brakes good tyres the rear isn't even touching the road so its not stopping you you should practice grabbing a handful of front brake so you know how much will stop you quickest the ability to do this in a hurry will save your life
Q:I am looking to buy a motorcycle soon and ive heard that a bike being dropped is bad, but that is all i know. I was wondering what could happen if the bike is dropped.
grab the front brake while the handle bars are turned at slow speed, and u'll instantly drop it. been there, done that. wont cause any damage if u have an engine guard on it, and it helps picking it back up also. anything over 10 mph could do some damage if the bike goes down. depends on if it hit something for 1, and how hard it hit itif u go down at high speed, it's gonna get royally trashed.
Q:Why is the motorcycle brake discs better than the drums
Disc brakes heat better! But the brakes do not drum up!
