- Q: solar panel capacity, how do it work
- Calculating Your Solar Power Requirements There are three main things to consider in order to choose a Solar panel or create a Solar system. : How much energy can your battery store? 2 : How much energy will your appliance(s) use over a period of time? 3 : How much energy can a Solar panel generate over a period of time?
- Q: I thinking of buying a few solar panels, can anyone who had bought solar panels or sells them give me a price for them. I dot wanna over spend on them...
- Hello, Solar panels range from 200 to 400, depends on where you get them from. I got a good setup from iron edison which came delivered. I bought a 00 watt solar panel for $225, upon opening the delivered package, it was a high quality, clean cut panel that really obliged me to power it with a high quality battery. So I searched all over the place for HIGH quality solar batteries/asked many people, and came across VMAX solar batteries. These are top of the line, they have the best lifespan out of all the batteries I've tried and have been buying them from Bargainshore for years now. I recently bought more panels and used the the same setup, couldn't be happier! Goodluck!
- Q: A solar panel facing the sun at noon in mid-summer receives more intensity of the light than when it is at horizontal. However, it can receives more total solar energy when it is at horizontal than when it is tilted during a long summer day. Regradless if it is shaded by building or trees. why is that so?
- That okorder /... it shows a graph and explains it better.
- Q: The first panel is located in New England, the second is placed in the Sahara desert, the third is on the Earth side of the moon, and the last is on the far side of the moon. Which panel would absorb the most sunlight over a year's time and why ? All the panels are place in optimal places where they would get the most light available.
- probly the sahara desert since it there's not much rain there which would equal few clouds. you'd get plenty of direct sunlight. the moon is constantly orbiting earth and in different possisions with the sun which would equal less sun exposure.
- Q: I have a 500 watt inverter and battery but need solar panels to run my need. I want to have enough juice to run a computer and monitor and sometimes a 5w amp. I am not sure how much power is needed to run the computer (standard desktop with 5flat screen with an additional surround sound system) though on the side of the computer it says 5 amp but I know I used to run it and monitor and surround sound with a heating blanket on the same circuit which was rated at 20 amps. My question is that I would like to go and buy some panels (cheaply as I'm unemployed) from somewhere like Harbor Freight that would meet the need of the converter to supply enough amperage. So what size panel(s) or panels would I need to run this setup? If I am correct I think 500 watts is equal to 5 amps. Would this even work? Could I run a partial system where I could run some of the stuff to take a load off? I need to lower my electric bill somehow. Thanks!
- Solar okorder in their survival discussion in the archive, this exact project was discussed at length.
- Q: Is there a cheaper way on how to make your own solar panels ? Can someone share their real life experience ? Thank you.
- If okorder / . Beware of anyone who makes claims you can save tons of money by making your own panels. Those are scams. It's possible to save money with solar, but not with homemade panels.
- Q: The average solar panel produces 0% of the energy that is put into it. What is happening to the other 90%? Is it being reflected or is it being obsorbed by materials that are not a part of the solar cell? Is it possible to one day have near 00% efficient solar cell technology?
- Mainly due to reflection (micro-structuring of the surface helps here), incorrect wavelength of the light (the panel is only sensitive to a certain wavelength range) and heating of the panel (due to the incident light/thermal radiation). The remainder is either reflected or absorbed by the cell and re-emitted as heat. Absorption by e.g. the glass panel is slight (a few %), as is absorption/reflection by the necessary surface contacts (again, a few %). Higher efficiency is possible, but brings its own drawbacks (like higher cost). You could now go into two directions: - high efficiency cells/panels with (likely) higher cost and complexity for mounting (like lens or mirror based systems, aka concentrator systems, that increase the light level on the cells in order to increase efficiency) - low cost systems (cheap as dirt) that will allow you to cover every surface of a building, efficiency is less important if you can compensate by a much larger covered area As to the efficiency limit: there is a theoretical limit (from thermodynamics - don't ask me how or why) in the range of 30...40%, depending on which publication you want to believe in.
- Q: Okay, I think I understand what I'm doing, but I want to set up some solar panels on the roof of my garage, the building that gets the most sun, and I want to make sure all my math is correct in determining number of megawatts per year. However, my knowledge of electrical terms in quite n00bish, to say the least. Here is what I think I should be doing. The solar cells come at .75 Watts average power.I will install 4 panels of 64 cells each, with a total of 256 cells.
- For comparison, 36 of these make a normal 2V x 50W panel. Note they are not tabbed. This means you have to find a way to connect them yourself. The tabs are probably spot welded on by the suppliers. A supplier below has kits of these with tabs, as needed to connect them together. These are not suitable for grid connect, because the higher voltage needed makes do it yourself panels a dangerous and litigious thing to have on your roof. Maybe you could buy a smaller pack from the link below to compare tabbed and untabbed and work out what to do. Your power calculation is a bit incorrect because the sun is only present some of the time. The 36 cell module would produce 50W when square on to the full sun. The sun may be out for around 2h a day in some places and times of the year. However it is the equivalent of 5h full sun, because of the changing angle throughout the day. Look this up on the internet for your region. Temperate zones may be a lot less. One pack in your link is 36x3 = 08 cells. Thus 50W per pack x 5h a day gives 750Wh per day and 274KWh/y. In reality it will always be less because of regions, weather, clouds, dust, inefficiencies, aging of cells.
- Q: want to run 400 watt heater 8 hrs a day how many solar panels do i need and batteries
- well, you need to produce 3200 watt-hours per day with your solar panels how many you need depends on the type of panel and size and how much sun you get (the energy of the rays depends on your latitude and the time of year) the amount of batteries you need again depends on your requirements and your insolation if you only need to heat when the sun is shining then you don't need any batteries at all if you want to heat for 8 hours after the sun has quit shining then you obviously need batteries to hold 3200 watt-hrs of electricity to actually size a 3200+ watt-hr solar system you need a lot more information
- Q: How do solar panels affect the insurance premiums of a property?
- Solar panels can have both positive and negative effects on insurance premiums. On one hand, having solar panels installed on a property can increase its overall value, which may lead to higher replacement costs in case of damage or loss. This could potentially increase insurance premiums. However, many insurance companies also offer discounts for properties with solar panels, as they are considered a risk mitigation measure. The extent to which solar panels affect insurance premiums can vary depending on the specific policies and guidelines of the insurance provider.
