- Q: For people who know the history of Japan. Was there a time when there was wooden wash basins that were kept outside...and then used to take a bath?? Thanks.
- Yes, they were even used up until the 30s and 40s I believe as there are still some homes that have remnants of wooden wash basins that were used at that time. A friend of mine in Kyshu lives in such a house. They were located near a wood burning stove or hot spring and the hot water was poured directly into them through a pipe. I think you can even see them in museums.
- Q: Trying to install a wash basin in the basement and trying to find the least expensive, but effective option.
- yes you can use pvc and copper together. you need to install a threaded tee in the so you can connect the copper lin back, and to add a theaded end for the pvc pipe, then just use the recommended glue for the pvc, drains use pvc, water lines would be better using cpvc as they have a higher temperature and pressure rating. you can go to any hardware or building supply to get the materials. also, you may need to cut the pvc/cpvc to length from longer pieces so you should get a pvc cutter. for the larger diameters (above two inch) you can use a hack saw. just keep the cut as straight as possible. also, after making any cut, use either a knife blade, or sand paper to remove the sharp edges so the pieces join easier. make sure when you run the drain, you istall a p-trap and run the line slightly downhill from the sink end to the sewer or drain line where you tie it in. it helps prevent back-up and allows rthe water to drain completly and not sit in the line.
- Q: Can the washbasin be placed in a small living room?
- It is best not to put, but you have to put harmless. casual!
- Q: accidentally dropped hexene in to the wash basin in the science lab..what can i do.there is a strong smell .
- Wash it out with acetone (nail polish remover is primarily acetone)
- Q: It bugs me how people very quickly wash their hands after wiping their rear or don't do it at all. Seriously, you can quickly wash your hands after peeing because urine is just a liquid that gets washed away by the water. But poop is a physical substance that won't go away from quick contact with water or soap. Maybe you killed the bacteria but that's hardly the issue if there's still smelly crap on your hands.I also hate it when people say the tissue prevents poop from getting on your hand. If you wipe correctly, your pointer finger is covered by the tissue and your thumb will usually get feces on it. Also, it is common to rip the tisse a little with your finger nail. What do you guys think? It doesn't have to be a huge production but I think people need to really scrub away their hands after wiping instead of 1-2-3 "I'm done".
- i don't know how you wipe, but i have never gotten poop on my hand while wiping. i have when i've changed diapers... anyway, i can't remember the last time i washed my hands after going to the bathroom. and i have never had any serious illness. not the flu, nothing. so whatever i'm doing works. i don't see why some people are so paranoid about germs that they have to wash their hands after everything.
- Q: Okay my next question, I've recently hand-made some outfits, a mens formal wear vest and a mens formal wear jacket, they are both cotton/polyester blend. It took me soooo long to make the outfits and they are so valuable to me I refuse to machine wash them because I want to preserve their quality. I will only delicately wash them by hand, unless there is another way. Can someone experienced please tell me how I should do this? What should I use to clean it and how should I use it and explain why it will help prevent fading or wear or shrinkage. I want to cause the least amount of wear on the clothing items and protect their rich black color. I know I'm being over protective but they took so much work to make.
- There is no magic to hand washing. It does not produce a better result. Some fibres, such as wool, require hand washing because the agitation in the washing machine makes the wool felt or pill. I would not dream of hand washing a cotton/polyester blend. Life is too short.
