- Q:Can someone tell me the average savings you get PER solar panel installed? I do not have the money to invest in a bunch of them at once, so I am forced to buy one at a time, when I have the money. So how much can I expect to save after I buy the first one?
- I am afraid you are in for some disapointment. A typical solar panel might put out something over 00 watts, and cost a pretty big bundle. Then, what would you do with the power? It will be low voltage DC. You could charge a battery, or run a DC appliance. You would get less than ten cents worth of electricity per day. If you wanted to use it for household appliances, you would need an inverter. More big bucks. Type solar panels in the green search box at the top of this page, and read previous Q A. Also do the same on the Internet. Sorry to be a wet blanket.
- Q:How much does it cost to replace a solar panel?
- The cost to replace a solar panel can vary depending on factors such as the type, size, and quality of the panel, as well as any additional installation costs. On average, the cost can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars per panel. It is recommended to consult with a professional solar installer or company for an accurate estimate based on your specific needs.
- Q:Can solar panels be used in conjunction with a backup generator?
- Yes, solar panels can be used in conjunction with a backup generator. This setup is known as a hybrid solar power system and it allows for continuous power supply even during periods of low sunlight or when the solar panels are not generating enough electricity.
- Q:How do solar panels connect to the electrical grid?
- Solar panels connect to the electrical grid through an inverter, which converts the direct current (DC) electricity produced by the panels into alternating current (AC) electricity that is compatible with the grid. This AC electricity is then sent to the main electrical service panel in a home or building, where it can be used to power appliances and devices. Any excess electricity generated by the solar panels can be fed back into the grid, often through a net metering arrangement, allowing the owner to receive credits or compensation for the excess energy produced.
- Q:If a solar panel is a .5kW system, what length of time is it putting out that much power? Every hour?
- Power = work done/time taken In other words, Watts=Joules/second. In this respect, power is a little like speed (m/s). Your question is looking at a car with a 50mph top speed, and asking how long is it going that fast? The solar panel will produce .5KW for as long as you require it. Enough to boil a kettle, run a modest electric heater etc,
- Q:Composition and function of solar panels
- Among them, for the electronic grade polysilicon accounted for about 55%, solar grade polysilicon accounted for 45%, with the rapid development of photovoltaic industry, solar cell demand for polysilicon growth rate higher than the development of semiconductor polysilicon, is expected to 2008 solar polysilicon
- Q:Rated in kilowatts, what is the maximum output of one 8 by 0 solar panel? Assume this solar panel is located at the equator for maximum sunlight.

- Q:I want to add solar panels to my home. I was looking online and it seems there are so many different kinds! How does it hook up to the electrical grid? How much do I need for a 2000 sf home?
- This is still not a trivial project, although it is getting easier. The usual way to do this is to contact professional installers for free quotes. In the process of getting the quote, you'll learn what considerations go into sizing a solar system. They'll look at your energy usage, and also whether your house has a good, clear, south-facing roof that doesn't get shaded during the day. They'll also look at your electrical panel to see whether they can hook right up, or additional work is needed. There are rumors of companies like Akeena planning to sell panel kits in Home Depot (in areas that Akeena does not directly serve). The idea would be that a pro installer would pick up the kit there, but a highly skilled homeowner might be able to make it work. A permit will probably be required by your jurisdiction, but that's no different than applying for any other construction. And you'll have to inform your power utility in advance, which may or may not be routine, depending on how often people connect solar in your area. If you want to see how we connected our system, a link is below. I did not really save money by doing it myself. That's because pro's can get better prices on the panels, which makes up for the labor cost.
- Q:how fast does a 25watt solar panel generate power to a battery? trying to figure out a conversion factor here to get a rough estimate of how many i would need to power my house, please help?
- To figure our how many you need, take a look at your power bill. It will tell you how many kilowatt/hours you used during the month. My bill says I use about 2000 kilowatt/hours per month, or about 2000 kwh /30 days=67 kw/h hours per day. That is 67,000 watt hours. To supply that with solar panels, you have to generate at least 67,000 watt hours, but you don't have a full day to do it, since you have to do it while the sun is up. So you put the energy into batteries during the day, so you can use it at night. A 25 watt panel generates about 25 watts when fully illuminated by the sun. If you fully illuminate it for an hour, you get 25 watt hours. If you get 2 hours of sunlight a day, that would seem to imply that I need 67000 watt hours/25 watts /2 hours=45 panels. But for most of the day, the sun isn't hitting the panel fully, so it isn't going to generate the full 25 watts. When the sun is 45 degrees to the side, you only get about 70%. When the sun is 60 deg to the side, you only get 50%. And what do you do on cloudy days? And the shorter days in the winter? To make up for this, you have to increase the number of panels to make up for the loss. So in reality, I might need double this number of panels, for realiable solar power throughout the year. That works out to about 90 panels, or ,250 watts worth for my house.
- Q:Can solar panels be used to power streetlights or outdoor lighting?
- Yes, solar panels can be used to power streetlights or outdoor lighting. Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity, which can be stored in batteries and used to power streetlights or outdoor lighting fixtures during nighttime. This helps to reduce reliance on traditional grid-based electricity and promotes more sustainable and environmentally friendly lighting solutions.
