- Q: I am building a solar panel I have wired in series 36 .5 volt solar cells to produce 8 volts I have another panel that has 34 .5 volt solar cells to produce 7 volts. Any issues with wiring these 2 arrays in Parallel? I.E. would the smaller array take usable power away from the larger array?
- Hmmm (8v -7v)/ 0 ohms .... shakes head....
- Q: How does the snow cover get removed from the panels?
- Green energy magically makes the snow transparent. The more I learn about solar and wind, particularly selling excess power back to the utility, the less sense it makes. You'll have noticed, perhaps, that there was no way to store the power from the panels for when it's really needed.
- Q: Am using 800watts sukam inverter and have 55watts panel. What controller can i use to connect my solar system to have a max power . Already i have 200 Amp/hr battery
- If that 55-watt panel has an open circuit voltage of 7-8 volts, you may get more efficiency by omitting the charge controller completely, and connecting the panel straight to the battery. 55 watts is marginally too small for a 200 AH battery at 2 volts, by the way.
- Q: If my school uses 88240kWh of electricity per month and I have 000 50W solar panels running for 6 hours a day, does it mean it will take 88240kWh / {{[(50W x 3600s)*000]/000}kWh x 6} number of hours to generate that much electricity (88240kWh)?
- running six hours a day doesn't mean much. You need to look at the solar insulation charts for your school's geographical location to come up with a better factor. The easiest number for you to use is sun hours. For example, Washington DC averages 4.23 hours. Do a Yahoo search for sun hours and you should find lots of charts. Solar panels rated at 50W give this output at full sun near noon at full brightness (no clouds). The sun hour factor makes it easy to find the equivalent number of full brightness hours. So, using Washington DC as an example you have: 000 panels * 50W * 4.23 sunhours/day = 634kWh a day on average. You state your school uses 88240kWh/month which is 6274kWh a day. This would mean you need ten times more solar panels since there is no way to get more daylight. Be careful to put in all the units in your formula and cancel them out to make sure you don't end up with a nonsense result. The title of the question would be answered as followed: 50W/000 * 4.23 sunhours/day = 0.63kWh/day or 9kWh per month or 228kWh a year. These are annual averages. If you wanted a specific month, you would need the sun hours for that month. Hope this helps.
- Q: Hi, I am very interested in solar panels and would like to know more. Can someone please give me a basic explanation of how solar panels work?Thank you
- A solar panel is made up of many small solar cells. Each solar cell uses light to make electricity. The solar cell uses light to make electrons move. The cell is made up of two different layers that are stuck together. The first layer is loaded with electrons, so the electrons are ready to jump from this layer to the second layer. That second layer has some electrons taken away. It is ready to take in more electrons. When the light hits an electron in the first layer, the electron jumps to the second layer. That electron makes another electron move, which makes another electron move, and so on. So the light started a flow of electrons, or electricity.
- Q: Are you a Solar Panel Specialist/Genius/Enthusiast?
- No, just an amateur. I guess that could be called an Enthusiast. I think most people find the topic somewhat interesting, some more than others. Why do you ask?
- Q: I want to know that, is there any thing likehow much charge we can get per square feet. in a solar panel.let me know.also, I will appreciate if reference are given.

- Q: what is solar panel? full description needed?
- Solar energy begins with the sun. Solar panels (also known as PV panels) are used to convert light from the sun, which is composed of particles of energy called photons, into electricity that can be used to power electrical loads. Solar panels can be used for a wide variety of applications including remote power systems for cabins, telecommunications equipment, remote sensing, and of course for the production of electricity by residential and commercial solar electric systems. On this page, we will discuss the history, technology, and benefits of solar panels. We will learn how solar panels work, how they are made, how they create electricity, and where you can buy solar panels.
- Q: if i was to put a solar panel (sp) just outside of the earths atmosphere ans another solar panel (sp2) 0km away towards the sun. which one would generate more power (sp or sp2)? and how much more? is there a ratio to work out the power output and distance from the sun? would the 0km distance between the panels make a large difference in power output?many thanks in advance

- Q: I live in the UK, I have no savings (so would have to take out a loan of about ?8000), I don't know how long I plan to stay in my house, I might want to move in a year or two to take advantage of a better job so I want to keep the option open of being able to sell my house without having to pay off the cost of having the panels fitted (which I probably won't get back on the increased value they add to my house). What are the main advantages of having solar panels? What are the pitfalls the ever so eager cold callers with quotas to fill don't tell you about?Basically is it worth having them?Thankyou.
- In 2007, the cost of solar photoelectric power was 38 cents US per kwh while the cost of coal power was 0.6 cents per kwh but consumer costs for power were 2 cents per kwh as additional coal power plants are not being built so wind and natural gas are being built. Without government incentives, solar power are not economic. However, the UK has extensive subsidies for solar, I would suggest that you learn how to perform Internal Rate of Return ( IRR ) calculations and Net Present Value ( NPV ) calculations to evaluate your financial decision, excel has an excellent =XIRR() function to do this with. Most people talk about payback periods but that's due to the poor level of financial education in the population and payback periods don't give you an appropriate evaluation of the time value of money. With solar power, it's a razor thin line of economics so you have to get the calculations right to know what's in your best interest, the laymen hearsay isn't going to do it.
