- lol wow 1366x768 resolution on a desktop? thats horrid... Yes with that you can definitely play on high/ultra settings just fine for any game lol. Id suggest getting like a 1600x900 res monitor atleast. At 1600x900 the 6850 should be able to play any game at high settings decently.

- if your gonna be using programs that take advantage of multiple cores than speed is of lesser importance and the 1055 or 1090 should be fine - good multi-tasking cpu's. The 980 is the fastest, most efficient processor you can buy, but alot of animators are doing just fine on cpu's like the 860 or less. i like the the 1055t as you cannot beat it for the price - you may be more interested in a ram upgrade witht the extra dough you save - depending on how much you have now.

- Under normal conditions fire breaks (bulldozed areas) work pretty well. We have actually seen a lot of evidence of this here in the San Diego County area even under bad conditions. Unfortunately, the strong Santa Ana winds (that blow from the east out to the west) can carry the fire (through burning embers) a long ways- we saw this back in 2003 when the fire jumped a ten lane freeway. The winds also swirl into a funnel that carry the fire unpredictably- even if you have a fire retardant roof the embers can get into the eaves and insulation of a structure. This time of the year in So. California you have very hot and dry conditions combined with unpredictable strong winds- the elements for a perfect firestorm.

- Were did ya hear this? I haven't heard an announcement of its availability anywhere yet! much less pre ordering the 990FX chip set is for the bulldozer however its suppose to be good in any AM3+ socket which includes the 880G, 890FX, 970, 990X, 990FX chip set. The only FX chip for the bulldozer is the 890FX and 990FX. Since its Official announcement date has been rolled back (from 2 weeks ago) to as late as December or earliest, next month, pre ordering is premature!

- First off, bulldozer isn't coming out until at least September now, just so you know. Also, the prices already have come down quite a bit. They were around $300 a year ago. PSU: It's just barely going to cut it when it's brand new and they're less efficient at full capacity. I would pick a new one with some room for capacitor aging and potential upgrades - something like 750 watts. Also consider modular power supplies, they're much easier to deal with. Case: I like Cooler Master. Motherboard: Asus is good. AM3+ is forwards compatible. Good. GPU: Great. RAM: That's overclocker's RAM. You could get 1333 or even 1066 and not lose a single fps. If you do some research and carefully overclock, you would still only need 1600 unless you wanted to do an extreme overclock. Only the geekiest of the geeks should bother with extreme overclocks since they don't help performance very much more than a normal overclock will and they're more dangerous and shorten the life of your processor. Also, AMD chipsets benefit more from low CL more than they do from high mhz. CPU: For gaming you only need 4 cores, but an extra couple of cores won't hurt anything, they just cost a little more.
