Q: Do nursery trays come with pre-drilled holes for easy transplanting?
Yes, nursery trays typically come with pre-drilled holes for easy transplanting.
Q: Can ground cover be used to create a natural-looking border around a pond or water feature?
Yes, ground cover can be used effectively to create a natural-looking border around a pond or water feature. Ground cover plants such as creeping juniper, sedum, or creeping thyme can be planted around the edges of the water feature to provide a soft and seamless transition between the water and surrounding landscape. These plants not only add visual appeal but also help to prevent erosion and keep the soil in place. Additionally, ground cover plants can attract beneficial insects and wildlife, enhancing the overall natural ambiance of the pond or water feature.

Q: This question asks about the methods farmers use to protect their crops from damage caused by agricultural plastic mulch.

Farmers employ several strategies to prevent damage to their crops from agricultural plastic mulch. They carefully select mulch materials that are compatible with their crops and soil conditions. Proper installation techniques are crucial, ensuring the mulch is laid evenly without damaging the plants. Farmers also monitor the temperature under the mulch to prevent overheating, which can harm crops. Additionally, they may use biodegradable mulches to minimize environmental impact and reduce the risk of crop damage. Regular inspections and prompt removal of the mulch at the appropriate time are also part of effective crop protection.

Q: What are some reasons why we need to conserve plastic bags?
We shouldn't use them at all. We have some great other choices. We can use hemp bags, organic cotton, or even paper (I know trees have to make these but we can plant a tree, it is better than plastic) You can save some of the ones you have and use them as doggie poo bags, that is what I do, at least the bag has been used twice and I don't need to buy more plastic bags for the doggie. I can only figure that making the plastic bag is toxic and so if we reduce the number we use not as many bags will be made and that will reduce the amount of toxic chemicals in the air.
Q: Just bought an old house, 1 1/2 story. Gonna try to quot;flipquot; it. Built in 1919. I guess the electrical AND plumbing needs completely updated. Lot's of different opinion out there regarding Copper vs Plastic PVC or alternative plastic pipes. Which is the better way to go? HELP! I know nothing on the subject.
plastics are easier to put in, but I prefer copper pipe any day. but if you do go for plastics, there are some fittings, that once connected, you cant take then apart again, other than cutting them. and some you can,and if buying for hot water pipes, check they are suitable for the job so check this out before buying
Q: I am wondering what the issue about having microwave safe plastics. Will cooking food in non micro-microwave safe plastics cause me to become ill or have any other harmful effects. Also are plastic butter tubs or yogurt containers microwave safe?
Well I think that the larger issue here is.. will you be able to eat the food that comes from the containers that are not microwaveable. Many food grade plastics are meant for storage and not reheating. Chances are if you select any old plastic tub it could melt before your food even gets hot! As far as I know butter tubs and yogurt containers are NOT microwave safe. Obviously, plastics vary in their chemical composition. What they have in common is that they are formed by chemical reaction. If used with food in a microwave, they must not further react, they must not decompose into the food and they must not leach out components into the food. Using a yogurt container can melt it and therefore leach harmful chemicals into your food as well. Microwave plastic wraps, wax paper, cooking bags, parchment paper, and white microwave-safe paper towels should be safe to use. Never use thin plastic storage bags, brown paper or plastic grocery bags, or aluminum foil in the microwave. In summary, odds are if it doesn't say microwave safe.......... it probably isn't.
Q: My horse is scared of plastic. What should I do?
Okay, i have helped other people with this problem... you need to spend a lot of time with your horse in a arena or round pen....you need to to get a lung line or a 12 foot to 16 foot lead rope. i would use the 12-16 foot lead rope for shorter control. now after you spend about 15 min lunging your horse. bring a empty water bottle and slowly set it on the dirt. take your horse near the water bottle but not too close and just stand there. then walk your horse around the water bottle. make sure the horse can see it. walk in different directions. occasionly getting closer to the water bottle. praise your horse for good behavior. if your horse starts to freek out turn your horse so his butt is facing the water bottle. calm your horse. after he has calmed repeat the process again. prasing your horse when he is doing a great job. After you can safley move your horse around the water bottle, pick up the water bottle and hold it in your hand that you are not leading your horse with. let your horse smell the water bottle. as soon as he smells it pull it away. do this a couple times then act as though the water bottle is your hand. pet your horse with the water bottle and praise him! now all horses are different...you may have to keep going over these steps...but eventually your horse will get over his phobia....with time and patients and presistance you will acomplish your goals with your great horse!
