You also don't say what type or weight of gloves so let me guess; they are 6oz MMA gloves or whats even worse MMA training gloves that are only 4 oz. Fighters generally don't spare with a 6 oz MMA glove unless its with control and when they want hard contact they are sparring with a 14-16 oz boxing glove.
