Q: I have a cabin that is way out in the middle of no where, it would cost 000's of dollars to get power to it. If I have a 8,000 BTU air conditioner that runs on 25 volts and 5 amps (or 875 watts)How many solar panels will I need to run this during the day, plus charge the batteries to run it all night? How many batteries would I need
You would need 6 300 watt solar panels, US price around $300 per, And a minimum of 4 batteries. You are going to have major problems only having 5 hours of sun though.I am not sure you could get it to work with only that much sunlight. Along with an inverter and some other controller units. If you live in an area that has some wind, a wind generator would knock it down to where you would only need 2 solar panels and a small 500 watt wind generator. The problem you are going to have is trying to run it all the time. I had an AC that size in my camping van, it took about 20 minute to run two batteries down so low that the inverter started to sound the low battery alert. If I left it running it did ok, and I had an over-sized alternator for it. I had a 50 amp heavy truck alternator. A swamp cooler would be a lot less energy, you could easily recycle about 95% of the water. I know this is the 2st century and this may sound a little nuts, but with only 5 hours of daylight, if you have some trees you could use for burning you could build an outdoor steam engine cheaper and it would charge a lot more batteries in a lot less time. Plus you could run off the steam engines generator for as long as you had a fire day or night. Even a small 55 gallon water tank would give you plenty of head for the steam. You could easily run a 6000 watt generator off of it and have plenty of electricity while it was running. Just a thought, I had to resort to some extreme measures when I bought some Montana land in 2000, it was 6 miles to the nearest utility pole.

I don't have direct experience with the Harbor Freight panels, but have heard that they are agressively rated - i.e., the three 5-watt panels are really 5-watt panels. The 80-watt panel is likely to be a serious panel, rated according to standard test conditions. It will also be more durable, and probably have a warranty of 20 years or more. There's really no comparison. If your goal is to experiment with solar electricity, then get the kit from Harbor Freight (or Northern Tool, or any of a handful of other places). If your goal is to save money, generally you will need a larger scale than 80 watts - several thousand watts being the norm. And the payback time will be measured in years.
Q: my solar panel is 5v 50 mA, and im making iphone USB charger so i need to connect + with 00 ohm resister and to data - and + so what resister will be okay..?
Just connect the 5 volts out of the panel directly to the iphone via an USB connector. BUT, is the panel output always 5 volts, ±0.25 volts? Because that is the USB specification, and anything outside of those values could damage your iphone. And solar panels are known for their wide swings in voltage. Bottom line, resistor not needed, and you need to be positive you supply the correct voltage to the iphone. Best way to do that is to start with a solar panel that puts out at least 7 volts and use a LM7805 regulator. The only resistors needed are those to tie the data lines into a certain combination of resistance and voltage so that the iphone is fooled into thinking that a proper USB is connected. That would NOT involve a 00 ohm resistor. Search online for the proper values and connections. edit: are you repeating your same inane question with a different account? That is totally against the rules and could get you suspended.

i think that they are effective, even tho they cost heaps to get installed, i think that they are worth it. They dont require any effort to operate and use natural sunlight that turns into energy that people use everyday. they may be an eye sore but think of how much they are helping the earth and they are a great alternitave to fossil fuels (which are running out anyway), the only problem that i think they would have would be in winter when there isnt much sun on a few days. but other than that they are great

If you are just looking for hot water, you can build your own water pre-heater with copper tubing, mirrors, black engine paint, wood for an enclosure, and glass to cover the enclosure. I have seen plans online but cannot recall just now where. I've included some links below that you might want to check out. Also, you may want to check on tax rebates in your area for using solar. In some areas you can get rebates to pay nearly 00% of the cost. Or search for how to build a solar water heater for a LOT of online sites. One caution, do NOT use water directly from a solar water heater as it can be hot enough to burn your skin.
