- Q: I have a solar panel, charge regulator, inverter....is that all I need to tie it into my grid? Do I just plug the solar panel into the charge regulator into the inverter into any 0v outlet? I feel like im missing something....
- No don't do that unless you want a fire or worse electricution . DO NOT PLUG INTO THE WALL . st solar panel 2nd regulator 3rd 2 volt battery 4th inverter . The inverter should have 0 volt terminals that look like the plug on the wall . You would plug your TV or light into that the inverter . You would need an electrition to hook into your home electrical system . They will hook up a device made to tie into the grid or your meter that will make it run backwards but it takes alot of solar panels too do that . Please do not plug into wall .
- Q: I have tried researching on the internet and just cant find any real answer. I know that the amount of electricity produced when taking in the suns rays depends on the placement of the solar panels but I am just looking for ball park figures. Thanks
- Ultimately it depends on your utility and the country you're in. In countries like Germany, Spain and the UK, the utilities will pay a higher price for the power you produce then what they sell it to you at. Otherwise, in countries that don't have such arrangements, net metering is best where what you produce is discounted from the amount you buy per month therefore so long as you produce less than you use, you get the full retail rate, otherwise you may get only half the retail rate with some utilities. Obviously, the solar panels are rated and won't produce much more than the rated power, a 4 foot by 2 foot panel would usually be rated at 00 watts but in most situations will produce about 80 watts and would probably cost about $500 US installed. If you assume 8 hours of usable sunshine a day, 70% sunny days, a 25 year service life, monthly billing and 0 cents a kilo watt hour retail rate, you can expect at most a -.67% per annum return on your investment, that's a negative sign out front. Basically without any subsidies, you will lose money on the panel, sure you're get some money every month, about $.34 per month for that 00 watt panel but it won't make back it's money at at a rate of 0.0 per kwh. With subsidies it might be a good investment but it's still not a good deal without subsidies.
- Q: Just wondering if it is possible to recycle solar panels and where that would be done. If it is possible, is there a money refund in return. Or would it be better to just take the metal off and get a refund in that way? Looking for basically any answer here.
- yes they are very recyclable, and you would actually be suprised at how much you get back from them just as materials, as there are still very valuable materials in them.... Often solar shops will accept them back for at a fraction of what you paid, as they can send them back to the manufacturer who then do all the material stripping in them and recycle all the materials there. Mainly depends what type of solar panels you have.... Most probably poly-chystalline or mono-chystalline. If they are that cool blue or black psychadelic looking panel also the manufacturing make that effect is also costly so they would probably look to buying that as well.. I would ask a solar shop where it can be done as the silicon in them are still a very prescious substance..... I would definatly not throw them out or pull them apart just yet
- Q: Dont/Cant work alone?when you buya asolar panel you mUST GET bATTERIES, voltage regulators and many else stuff?cant they just work directly? or can i use normal batteres like Car batteries? The one who Really knows 0 pts. thanks
- It is a system, you can get a small scale panel that can do things like charge cel phones and ipods. The type of system I have installed on my home needs a converter that turns the dc current that is produced by the panels into ac current to run in my home. I don't have a battery system because I'm not off the grid. When I'm generating more electricity than I am using I sell it back to my utility and at night when I'm not gernerating any electricity I buy it back again. Basically my meter runs backwards durning the day and frontwards during the night.
- Q: Can solar panels be used to power a skyscraper?
- Yes, solar panels can be used to power a skyscraper. With advancements in solar technology, larger and more efficient panels can be installed on rooftops or facades of skyscrapers, harnessing sunlight to generate electricity. However, the power generated may not be sufficient to fully meet the energy demands of a skyscraper, so a combination of solar power with other renewable sources or traditional energy grids might be needed.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a data storage facility or server farm?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a data storage facility or server farm. In fact, many data centers and server farms are now incorporating solar power as a sustainable energy solution. By harnessing solar energy, these facilities can reduce their reliance on traditional electricity sources and lower their carbon footprint. Installing solar panels on such facilities not only helps them achieve cost savings in the long run but also contributes to a more environmentally friendly operation.
- Q: but is that per day, per hour or minute? How much watts does the average AC unit use?How much does an energy efficient lightbulb use?All in all let's hypothetically say we no longer use the electric company for our energy source, How many of these panels do you estimate it would take to supply our small home?
- It's virtually impossible to estimate how many panels would be required, without knowing your electrical usage, and where the house is located. I'll give our house as an example, but it could be off by a factor of 0 (not kidding) from yours. We have gas heat, no air conditioning, and no pool. We live in a dry, sunny area of California, and our roof is ideally oriented for panels. We would need 25 such panels, but we are grid-tied. If we wanted to disconnect completely from the electric company, we would need 20% more panels to compensate for battery inefficiencies. So, the estimate is 30 panels. Here are some caveats: ) Air conditioning, especially central air, could double or triple the estimate. 2) An area that gets less sun per year (northern US, for example) would need more panels. 3) Typically, when a house has grid electricity, they keep grid electricity when they get solar panels. It's much cheaper to use both in tandem. 4) That's a horrible price for the panel in the picture. You can find a 200-watt panel for less than that. 5) Other equipment is required besides the panels to run your house off solar. You can read up on it on the internet, or ask a professional solar installer for a free quote.
- Q: Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of noise or vibration?
- Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of noise or vibration. Solar panels are designed to withstand various environmental conditions, including noise and vibration. However, it is important to ensure that the mounting structure and installation are done properly to minimize any potential impact on the panels' performance.
- Q: Can solar panels be used for powering agricultural irrigation systems?
- Yes, solar panels can be used to power agricultural irrigation systems. Solar energy can be harnessed to generate electricity, which can then be used to power pumps and other equipment required for irrigation. This can be a cost-effective and sustainable solution for farmers, especially in areas with abundant sunlight.
- Q: Are there any restrictions on installing solar panels in certain areas?
- Yes, there can be restrictions on installing solar panels in certain areas. These restrictions can vary depending on local regulations, zoning laws, homeowners' association rules, and building codes. Some areas may have height restrictions, setback requirements, or aesthetic guidelines that limit the placement or visibility of solar panels. Additionally, historic districts or areas with protected landscapes may have stricter regulations. It is important to check with local authorities and consult any relevant guidelines or permits before installing solar panels in a specific area.
