- Personally rather than V-brakes I would go for disc brakes. The reasoning behind this is that the rims are going to get wet and muddy thereby decreasing their efficiency. 3-4 travel on the front-forks is about right. Remember to get the all-important lid (safety helmet), gloves and other protective equipment - doing it for fun is one thing, competing is another. Be safe.

Usually in tough man contests the fighters wear 14 or 16 ounce gloves [most states that allowed sanctioned tough men contests require this], seldom 8 and 10 ounce gloves are worn, but this is for matches not sanctioned by the state. Everlast also makes a decent glove, check the padding on the knuckle area, remember to wrap your hands, this will protect your knuckles. I prefer Everlast head gear, with no sissy bar. Real men don't use sissy bar head gear. I wish we had a tough man contest near me, it would be fun.

My question is the what are the difference between them and say the sparring gloves or the safety sparing gloves. My gloves are from Mexico and have 1.25 in padding that is very soft. They look nearly identical to the pictures of the Super Bag gloves on all the reputable websites. I heard the padding is more like a fight glove in the Reyes sparring glove and the padding is softer and slightly thicker in my Super Bag gloves. - CAN static electricity ignite powder or ignition composition? MOST CERTAINLY! Static electricity is one of the chief causes of pyrotechnic and ordnance incidents. Of course, this is with open/exposed powder generally, with the charge actually hitting the powder or vapors from the powder. NG based powders are really bad about vapors. Much to our safety and relief, however, once you put the powder in a nice, conductive metal cage, the likelihood of the charge going through the powder is slim and none. It's like being in a car struck by lightning. People think you're safe because your rubber tires insulate the car. Consider the fact that the lightning bolt is traveling a few hundred feet in dead non-conductive air first (or next), and suddenly the 1/2 of rubber doesn't mean much. You're safe because you're in a nice, conductive metal cage that the electricity will gladly travel through instead of you. Same goes for static electricity. If it DOES somehow travel into the cartridge, it's going to travel through the metal and not through the lead azide (or whatever) ignition comp in the cartridge. Read up on a Faraday's cage for better info than I can give :). Yes, your body can get enough charge going to ignite lead azide and other ignition compounds. The charge, however, simply can't get there.
