- Q: Can solar panels be installed on residential complexes or apartment buildings?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on residential complexes or apartment buildings. Many residential complexes and apartment buildings have successfully installed solar panels to generate clean and renewable energy for their residents. This not only helps in reducing electricity bills but also contributes to a greener and more sustainable environment.
- Q: A local air conditioning company is advertising combining their (newly installed) central air conditioning system for homes, with roof solar panels. They say that the combination MAY reduce your electric bill. Nothing I can see to back-up their claims. Hmmmmm. And they offer, if you can get it; central air conditioning that runs on natural gas. Again, possibly cheaper than using electricity.Has any one actually tested to find out if solar panels and/or natural gas DOES, or DOES NOT save you any money to make it worth the bother?
- Don't do it! It takes years to get your money back. Your better to put the money into insulation and or buying geo thermal unit. I knew someone who install solar panels on his roof to generate hydro and he didn't notice much of a change on his hydro bill and then he had roof problems . Central air units in last 2 years have become very efficient . Almost half the hydro of ones 0 years ago. If you can afford buy a geo thermal unit. It uses the heat of the ground in the winter 2 heat your house during the winter and the coolness of the ground to cool your house. They aren't cheap though. If you plan on living in your house for more than 0 years and have the room in the yard to install then go for it. No how you slice it though AC units use way more hydro than solar panels can produce. You would need about half a football field with a huge battery storage system to run a AC unit. When a company states you might on hydro I would stay away. Also remember they do not tell you about the costs of the upkeep on the solar panels and converter and batteries
- Q: I have purchased a 2 volt LED lantern from argos, it comes with a built in 6 volt 4ah sealed acid battery. What I wanted to know is would I be able to charge it using my 6 volt solar panel?
- You okorder /... ] But I would suggest you contact . If you email, be prepared to provide more detailed specifications on your 6 volt solar panel and lantern data. You may just have to purchase a RECHARGEABLE 6V 4ah battery from them. Best of wishes.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed in areas with high winds?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed in areas with high winds. However, it is important to ensure that the panels are securely mounted and properly designed to withstand the wind load. Additionally, the orientation and tilt of the panels can be adjusted to minimize wind resistance and improve their durability in windy conditions.
- Q: So I want to power one of my car fans with some solar panels. I ordered quite a few and I want to power one of my fans under the hood. I've already disconnected the fan and pulled it out of the car to test it later. What all do I need besides the panels, fan, and wiring to make this work. This fan will not be tied to any other system. Currently, the fan is not operated by the car or any system of the car due to a modification made to the automobile allowing me to disconnect it from use months ago.Using the fan powered from the solar panels would help with the modification to increase air flow and speed into the area.Could someone please help me by telling me what else I need to make the fan operational from here?
- You may not like it, but the answer's still the same. A car fan will draw anything from a few to several hundred watts, depending on which fan you're talking about (A/C, ventilation, cooling). A solar array will take up roughly one square meter to generate 00 Watts with the sun shining straight down onto it, so you'll need to cover (more or less) the entire roof (or hood) with solar cells in order to power that fan (minimum). If you still want to go ahead: Solar panels, Fuse, cables. Preferrably one cut-out diode per panel (in addition to the hopefully present internal diodes in the panels) in order to prevent one panle dumping its load into the next instead of into the fan. Much better option: get a low power fan (e.g a slow running computer fan) and connect it to that panel of yours. These fans make do with about 0 Watts (at a much lower air throughput), so you'll actually have a chance of running it from the solar panel without coverig your car in panels.
- Q: I'm doing a science fair experiment with a tiny two-inch solar panel that only gives off like .5 volts of energy, but I need to know how many volts an average sized solar panel (like one you'd get to run your house) would produce. And how many panels do people usually get?
- You should read up on the different electrical units. You say .5 volts of energy, but this makes little sense. Energy is measured in Joules. Power in Watts. Solar panels will produce different voltages and currents, depending on the amount and angle of sunlight hitting them. Power = volts * amps. Before installing solar panels a home owner should do an energy audit to find out how much power they currently use - and how much that could be reduced with some easy changes. Solar panels are expensive, so it makes sense to reduce the amount that you need to install. In some places you can sell extra power back to your utility - so having extra panels might give you some small amount of money back - but this is rarely enough to justify the cost of the extra panels. I put 28 panels on my house (see picture in source URL). My utility has tiered pricing for electricity (first few kWh each month are cheap, but price for extra ones goes up in stages). My panels keep me from having to pay the higher rates.
- Q: Hi everyone, I am a novice in solar energy system. I want to know if I am on the right track. Recently I bought a 30 W solar panel, 5 Amp controller, and a 22 Ah battery, how many watts and what kind of INVERTER do I need? I did an research some said 50 W and some said 300 W. And am I right on the 5 amp controller and 22 Ah battery to provide larger output of electric, or the higher the # the greater output for 30 W solar panel?Really appreciate for anyone who help!!!
- With a 30 watt panel, producing about 2 amps, your not going to have much power from that. A 22 AH battery will give you 2 AH of usage. A battery should never be drained below 50%. What this works out to be is simply Amp draw for 2 hours. Which equals to 2V light bulb that draws amp for 2 hours. Not much. Now to replace that usage with your 30 watt panel, provided the panel is clean and in max sunlight, it will take 6 hours. If you attach an inverter to your system for 5 Volt Usage then the DC voltage drawn from the battery is very high. Example: Say you use a 5 Volt component that requires 50 Watts per hour to operate. The inverter will draw 5 Amps out of the Battery every hour to operate that component. That gives you and /2 of use before the battery is down to 50%.. Maybe that will be enough to charge up a standard Laptop battery. I have 2 30 Watt panels that produce 5 Amps, 4 6V batteries that have 480 AH and a 25 Amp Controller with a booster that increase the amp output to 20 Amps per hour. I live full time in an RV and raise the panels to get max output when I am parked. This system provides me with all the 5V throught the 500 Watt inverter that I need. Good luck on you system.
- Q: I am doing a project for school and i need to power a 9v DC motor using a solar panel. Does anyone know places i could get these for not to expensive, and how many volts/watts i would need?
- I too want to buy the panels to light up my house.
- Q: Need solar panel info with dimensions and also the total cost of the whole equipment for setting up of the required solar panels for a 2-story home
- There are many, upon many variations of equipment needed for a complete solar home. I would call several contractors in your area that deals with it and get estimates. You have to look at what your wattage diet is at your home. How many watts are you using for your AC and heat. Which can vary by age, efficiency, insulation of home, etc. Look at your electric bill for a normal summer month and a normal winter month, then estimate your heating and cooling (Sometimes can be as much as 70% of the bill). You will see on your bill your toal kilowatt hours. ( Kilowat = 000 Watts) Solar systems can start as low as $2.00/watt, but can rapidly approach $20.00/watt depending on the difficulty of application etc.... Here is the great thing, in many areas of the country there may be rebates from the county or state. And what you don't use can be fed back into the grid, and you get paid for it. But as always - Call a quailified contractor and get the right system for your home.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a high-rise building?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a high-rise building. In fact, high-rise buildings can be ideal locations for solar panel installation due to their height and large surface areas. By utilizing the available roof space, high-rise buildings can generate significant amounts of solar energy, helping to reduce their reliance on traditional energy sources and lowering their carbon footprint.
