Q: I'm thinking of having solar panels to generate electricity. The drawbacks are that I'm afraid if it needs repair, I won't be able to find anyone. Also I'm afraid that the roof is not very accessible. If it is a new house, should the roof have a roof hatch? What can make the system not work?
Modern solar electric panels rarely fail. Because of this, if you would be installing them over a roof that only has a few years left on it, it would be better to redo the roof, first. In the unlikely event that a panel needs to be changed, this can be done in 30 minutes or so, because the panels are mounted on racks, with everything simply plugging together. I have never personally seen a solar installation go bad, but from what I hear, the inverter (a box that goes in next to your electric service panel) is usually what burns out after 5 years, assuming the install was done right in the first place. If you were to call roofers to repair your roof, they would somehow be able to get to your roof, by ladders, or a special truck. Solar installers use the same kind of equipment. They won't have a problem getting up there. A solar electric system is actually a very straightforward thing. No matter who installs it, if there is a problem, another installer should be able to diagnose and fix it.
Q: How do solar panels affect the property's green certification?
Solar panels can have a positive impact on a property's green certification. By generating clean and renewable energy, solar panels contribute to reducing the property's carbon footprint. This aligns with the criteria for green certification, which typically includes factors such as energy efficiency and sustainability. Installing solar panels can enhance a property's overall sustainability profile, making it more likely to meet the requirements for green certification.
Q: Are there government incentives for installing solar panels?
Yes, there are indeed government incentives available for installing solar panels. These incentives can vary depending on the country and region, but they often include tax credits, grants, rebates, and net metering programs. These incentives are designed to encourage the adoption of renewable energy sources like solar power, making it more affordable and attractive for individuals and businesses to invest in solar panel installations.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on a billboard or signage?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a billboard or signage.
Q: If I wanted to put some solar panels on my roof, how many would i need and how many watts would they have to be to be able to power my whole house?
Actually even if you cover your whole roof with panels, you wont get enugh power to even run a tv, fan and light at the same time. Solar panels give out a very less power output.
Q: How do solar panels affect the property taxes?
Solar panels can potentially affect property taxes in a couple of ways. In some states or localities, installing solar panels may increase the assessed value of a property, leading to higher property taxes. However, other jurisdictions offer exemptions or incentives that can reduce or eliminate the increase in property taxes associated with solar panel installations. It is advisable to consult with local tax authorities or experts to understand the specific impact on property taxes in a particular area.
Q: What is the working principle of solar panels?
Based on the above considerations, silicon is the most ideal solar cell materials, which is the main reason for solar cells to silicon-based. But with the continuous development of new materials and related technology development, to other village-based solar cells are increasingly showing attractive prospects.
Q: I mean when light hits the solar panel where does the energy go and what does it become? Be specific.
Visible light from the sun is in the form of photon before hitting the solar panel. In a silicon solar panel, the photon is caught by the semiconductor material. Energy equivalent of the photon is then used to excite an electron from the semiconductor molecule. The aggregate of free flowing electrons form the current in a closed electric circuit. The efficency of conversion from sun light to electricity is not 00%. The majority of light energy hitting the solar panel is dissipated in the form of heat. As technology advances, the conversion efficiency is improving, hence reducing the cost of solar energy.
Q: What makes them stop working after a while?
could be temperature, poor design and U-V damage If they are outdoor lamps like mine it is more likely the rechargeable batterys are bad.
Q: i wanted to buy solar panels but this guy told me one will just power one light bulb what i want to know is how much thay cost and is it true tat if more power leaves your house than goes in the power company has to send u a cheek
If you are looking into a credit or buy back of hydro, you should be inquiring about windpower not solar...you will have better luck creating more with that than panels. It is not so much the cost of the panels that is a lot, it is the cost of everything else you will need to use/store the power....inverter, batteries...etc
