Q: What are the benefits of using plastic rainwater harvesting tanks?
Plastic rainwater harvesting tanks offer several benefits including durability, affordability, and convenience. These tanks are made from high-quality plastic that is resistant to corrosion and UV rays, ensuring their longevity and preventing any contamination of the harvested rainwater. Additionally, plastic tanks are relatively inexpensive compared to other materials, making them a cost-effective option for rainwater storage. Moreover, their lightweight nature allows for easy transportation and installation. Plastic tanks also come in various sizes and shapes, providing flexibility in accommodating different space constraints. Overall, plastic rainwater harvesting tanks provide a reliable and efficient means of collecting and utilizing rainwater while being convenient and affordable.
Q: I want to buy another fish tank. I found a 60 gallon for $100. but it's plastic, is that okay?
PLASTIC or ACRYLIC? this plastic tank you are talking about might literally be normal commercial grade plastic, and may really be a reptile tank. These cant be filled to the brim with water because the plastic is not strong enough to hold that much water (water weighs 8.4lbs per gallon, thats nearly 500 pounds) however, if it is an ACRYLIC tank then yes, thats fine. Acrylic is a specially strong plastic especially made for fish tanks, however these tend to be more expensive than glass aquariums, so i dont think thats what youre lookin at for 100 bucks. itd probably be more like 300 for a 60 gallon acrylic
Q: How do agricultural plastic products help with crop yield improvement?
Agricultural plastic products help with crop yield improvement by providing various benefits. They act as a protective barrier against pests, weeds, and extreme weather conditions, reducing crop losses. Plastic mulch films retain soil moisture, prevent soil erosion, and regulate soil temperature, creating an optimal environment for plant growth. Additionally, plastic irrigation systems ensure efficient water distribution, preventing water stress and promoting healthy crop development. Overall, agricultural plastic products contribute to increased crop yields and improved quality.
Q: Are nursery trays suitable for starting plants for reforestation projects?
Yes, nursery trays are suitable for starting plants for reforestation projects. These trays provide a controlled environment for seedlings to germinate and develop roots before they are transplanted into the reforestation site. The trays also allow for easy transportation and handling of seedlings, making them a practical choice for large-scale reforestation efforts.
Q: I have a plastic pith helmet. And I was wondering if UV rays can penetrate through the plastic and get on my skin. I hold it up to the light and most of the light doesn't make it but you can see a little light spots. It's kind of thick plastic, maybe a tad bit thinner than a hard hat but about the same thickness as a construction helmet. Maybe just half a millimeter thinner.
Just about all plastics are formulated with UV absorbers built in, because polymers break down so rapidly without them. This makes everyday objects like your helmet last a long time, even when exposed to direct sunlight. Without these absorbers, the plastic would become faded, discolored, and brittle after a very short time. Because of these additives, and because the plastic is relatively thick, no UV rays will penetrate the helmet. It is interesting to note that this UV protection is built into clear plastics as well. So that something like a plexiglass window, which lets in plenty of visible light, will still block out 99+% of the Ultraviolet light that hits it. So the UV protection is there, whether you can see through the plastic or not. The blocking is described in terms of % blocking, rather than UPF which is used exclusively for sunscreens designed for use on skin (even though many of the same UV absorbers are used in sunscreens and in plastics).
Q: What are some ground cover options for sunny areas?
Some ground cover options for sunny areas include creeping thyme, sedum, vinca minor, and ornamental grasses.
Q: I have a bunch of old torn up bass fishing plastics. I would like to know how i can melt them down and make my own. Do I need to purchase a mold? Can i make my own mold out of my existing plastics? What is the process for doing this? Thanks a bunch.
nothing l can add to afreshpath's answer except the plastic gets to about 350F. use a pan with a thick bottom so you don't burn the plastic. separate your different colors and don't mix with those newer real stretchy things. the regular soft plastics and this particular stuff aren't compatible. if you have another bait you would like to copy, try using bondo auto body putty tor making molds. otherwise, the purchased ones are better. l have seen quite a few molds on OKorder. flat molds will be easier than injection types.
Q: How do nursery trays promote healthy root growth?
Nursery trays promote healthy root growth by providing a controlled environment for seedlings or young plants. The trays allow for proper drainage and aeration, preventing the roots from becoming waterlogged. Additionally, the individual compartments in the trays help to prevent root entanglement and allow each plant to develop its own healthy root system. The trays also protect the roots from damage and provide a stable environment for the plants to establish strong and robust root systems, which are essential for their overall growth and health.
Q: Can ground cover be used to create a colorful landscape?
Yes, ground cover can definitely be used to create a colorful landscape. There are various types of ground cover plants available in a wide range of colors, including vibrant flowers and foliage. By selecting a mix of different ground cover plants with contrasting colors, you can create a visually appealing and colorful landscape that adds beauty and interest to your outdoor space.
Q: In what year did Plastic Bags become a severe problem to the environment?
why do you think they're a problem? They're convenient, light weight, clean, and strong. 100 of them take up less space in a landfill than a milk carton/jug. They are NOT the problem in the oceans. The problem there is plastic fishnets that have been lost by fishing boats. The nets ARE a problem, since they float and continue to catch and trap anything that goes into them. Testing has found that reusuable environmentally friendly cloth bags, used as replacements for plastic bags, soon build up high levels of bacteria as they are reused, so they need to be washed frequently which requires lots of water and detergent. In addition, at a cost of up to $5 each, buying and storing enough of them at home to handle a single trip to the grocery store can get prohibitively expensive for poor families who may use up to 20 plastic bags each trip to market to haul their groceries home. As for a year that plastic bags became a problem....it was the year immediately after plastic was touted as the salvation of the trees chopped down to create paper bags for grocery stores. Never let an environmentalist tell you what to switch to. It'll never be good enough. Just like all the environmental lawsuits now showing up in courts to stop clean energy projects (dams, windmills, solar arrays, geothermal, etc). All they want is for everyone to die and leave the planet to the frickin animals, because surely everyone can see that humans are a blight on the planet and should never have evolved.
