I sold a small bit of electrical equipment to a guy in Norway - I'm in the UK.Item became faulty after a month - I said I would refund him but I had spent the cash already and couldn't repay him back in one go. Item was returned.He agreed that I could pay it up ?899 over 4 years as I'm just a student and not working full time. It was sent in his currency and ?899Trouble is he is now claiming I've not just to pay ?899 back but the amount is to be much more in GBP's as the pound as got weaker against his currency although he stated he wouldn't add any interest on. Any advice?

Well it isn't your fault that the currency is more or less. Do you have anything in writing? You may want to check what laws are on the books but he can't just change the price on you

You are referring to electromagnetic pulse. The strongest part of the pulse lasts for only a fraction of a second, but any unprotected electrical equipment — and anything connected to electrical cables, which act as giant lightning rods or antennas — will be affected by the pulse. Older, vacuum tube (valve) based equipment is much less vulnerable to EMP than newer solid state equipment; Soviet Cold War–era military aircraft often had avionics based on vacuum tubes due both to limitations in Soviet solid-state capabilities and a belief that the vacuum gear would survive better. Can we use land line phone to control houshold electrical equipments. Is the techonology available. I am asking in sense how we use IVR when we call a bank, can we have someting in similar lines. For example, switing on a microwave at home before i leave office.

The answer is a qualified yes. You can connect your lights and appliances to X10-based switches and dimmers, and use the X10 Telephone Responder to control them remotely by phone. This will not allow you to turn on a microwave, because microwaves require their buttons to be pushed.
