Q:How are all these transmissions going out? People with cars in the 1997-2000s. What are they doing wrong? Not depressing brake pedal all the way? How do you make sure a car you buy has a good transmission
Examine the fluid, it should be clean and free of debris and dirt. It should not smell burnt, like gas, or anything but off-the-shelf Dexron. Test drive and look for any slippage or extreme hesitation. Some cars, especially Toyotas, will hesitate between first and second. This is normal, albeit a strange normalcy. Best policy-look at the driver. If its a kid, assume the torque converter will be toast soon.
Q:What are the basic parameters of a hydraulic drive system?

Q:i have a 2006 Nissan Maxima automatic that has suddenly started showing serious transmission issues. hesitating and rough engagement between reverse/neutral and drive mainly. rougher shifting in general. i did some research and found a lot of the same issues as i have for other people. now, the fix is a new transmission according to Nissan, but, i am curious if anyone knows of this issue and has an alternative cheaper fix, such as a specific component in the transmission versus a new one at $3,500-$4,000. thanks in advance!
Signs of a Bad Torque Converter Transmission Gear Slippage A bad torque converter will often cause transmission gears to slip out of place, especially under heavy acceleration. By altering the flow and pressure of circulating hydraulic transmission fluid, a bad torque converter can prevent optimal hydraulic transmission fluid flow, which can allow gears to slip. Reduced Acceleration Many times a vehicle that has a bad torque converter will seemingly lack engine power and/or acceleration power. Proper vehicle acceleration is influenced in part by the proper hydraulic function of a torque converter. A bad torque converter will often times prevent adequate transmission pressure from developing, which in turn reduces engine acceleration and power. Hard Shifting Hard shifting, which normally occurs when a transmission slams or drops into gear as opposed to shifting easily into gear, is a common symptom of a bad torque converter. Proper, consistent torque converter action, including proper hydraulic fluid pressurization, is mandatory for smooth transmission gear shifting. A bad torque converter lacks the ability to pressurize hydraulic fluid normally, which can result in hard shifting. Transmission Surging A vehicle that surges, or lunges, while being driven at a constant speed is oftentimes a vehicle that has a bad torque converter. This condition, which is normally caused by the erratic flow and pressurization of hydraulic transmission fluid within the torque converter, is a classic symptom of torque converter dysfunction. Transmission Lag Transmission lag is a condition where a vehicle's transmission takes a long time to build up sufficient transmission fluid pressure to affect vehicle movement. Transmission lag is most apparent in a vehicle starting out from a complete stop. A bad torque converter can lack sufficient converter and pump action to provide adequate hydraulic fluid pressure to affect normal vehicle take-offs.
Q:CAN some one please tell me if the synaptic transmission of a stimulus is different from a neuron stimulus transmission?and can any one help me find a complete diagram that illustrates the process of the synaptic transmission!! THANK UUU!!!
I've never been good at answering riddles, because riddles require additional info (what someone has learned) that is not included in the message/ riddle itself. As far as I can tell, though, the big stumper of this riddle is: If you do it once, its good. i_luvclovers, the asker of this riddle, posted this riddle before. He posted it as a sin previously, but changed it to serious crime. I guess that's for clarification. Either way, with that said, i_luvclovers did not change anything else about the riddle. Such as clarifying whether it is If you do it once (in one day), its good. or If you do it once (at all), its good. If a riddle doesn't say anything, don't assume. Anyways, that's my two-cents thrown into the peanut-gallery. I hope someone figures it out, cause it's an interesting riddle. PS: Just for kicks, I'm going to throw in an answer. if you do it once, its good. if you do it twice on the same day, its a serious crime. Jury Duty?
Q:Driving to work. sitting at a stop light, and looked over at a transmission co with the garage open, with couple cars in it. Ford TaurasFord MustangFord Firebird.that sucks.
eventhough ure making assumptions ill point that taurus are transmission trouble,,mustangs might have been there for a tune up or trans oil change.now thunderbirds are rare to break but often will do fail from differential problemsbut hey in that trans shop they might do other jobs too u never know.
Q:I was wondering about how much it was going to cost to replace a transmission filter and transmission fluid for a late '90s Ford Esscort? I'm not sure of the exact year.sorry
I guess it depends on where you live. The mechanic removes the pan on the bottom of the transmission so he can gwet in there to replace the little filter. He also cleans the little magnet that is on the bottom of the pan. Then he disconnects the lines that go to the transmission cooler (which is at the bottom of the radiator) to drain the trans further. And then he puts everything back including a new filter and a new gasket for the pan. Then he refills it. And this is a most important part. He shoud always refill it with the exact type of transmission fluid that is recommended in the owners manual. There is a difference between transmission fluids and the wrong one will definitely cause you trouble. The only other thing I will say on the subject is to NEVER have the transmission FLUSHED. The results of a flush can go either way--good or bad-- and a bad result can cost you thousands to repair. And just one other thing. Stay away from outfits like JIFFYLUBE,,PEPBOYS, SEARS or any other chain outfit. Ask around for a reliable mechanic.
Q:how much would it cost to change my 2005 pontiac g6 transmission oil?
pontiacG6 2005 I cant find transmission stick to measure fluid in transmission or a fill spot??
Q:I put 1 qt of transmission fuiled to the torque converter and 4 qts to the transmission. Is this enought for the for the torque converter. The book I found said the transmission takes 8 qts. So how much more should I add?
add three more let it run for a minute and check it .add untill its full on the dipstick if you need to.then try to shift in drive and reverse.if it goes in gear ok,drive around the block and check it again.shut it off and dont drive for about ahalf hour.start and check it again, you dont want the transmission real hot when you check it
Q:when the car upshifts (2nd gear back down to 1st gear) i feel a slight nudge.ive heard honda transmission shift firmer than other cars.is this normal behavior? also when coming to a stop when the car shifts into first gear it nudges as well, its like a slight bump. i just want to make sure all is ok ) anywone with a honda that shifts more noticably than other cars? best answer gets 10 points!
The year is important. from 1998 - 2004 Honda had a terrible time with the transmissions they hooked to V6 engines. The first source has a theory on what was wrong. In those transmissions hard shifting can be a sign of impending failure, possibly because the failures were the result of Honda trying to make the shifts soft. 1998 and later transmissions should have fairly soft shifts; pre-1998 transmissions have rather hard shifts.
Q:I have a v6 firebird 1999 4l60e, got code p1870 for god knows how long (car dealer cleared check engine light before I bought it). Anyway it slips, has shuttle shifts, grinds between gears sometimes.I already know the transmission is dead, but don‘t know if a used transmission gets rusty (gears, solenoids, etc) overtime?Because there‘s a a rating transmission 12,000 miles but 1999Scared of rusty gears, clutches then its a wasteDoes rust happen in old transmissions with fluid or no?
if the transmission has sat outside then can rust if water does get into it. most yards keep transmissions inside. water can ruin a transmission. pull pan off transmission before installing if o.k then replace filter. if anything looks bad as in water in it or to much debris in the pan return it and get another one
